Memories of VietnamMy friends all said "Don't go there it will only bring you tears."Memories of Vietnam9 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
I couldn't believe how right they were even after all these years.
I looked upon the wall; saw the faces in the stone,
The faces of young men yearning to come home.
I looked upon the wall and relived that horrid night.
When the Vietcong attacked and I fought my first true fight,
I still hear the sounds of the bullets whistling by.
I still see the blasts and I watch my buddies die.
Those were men my brethren, their courage passed the test,
In that fight for freedom they found eternal rest.
I remember to this moment every second of that day,
As the Vietcong came charging and took my friends away.
I never will forget until the day I reach the grave.
All my comrades fallen whose lives I could not save.
If I look into the wall this is what I'll see.
My memories of my days in 'Nam will be forever haunting me.
Every night I lay in bed and too the lord I pray.
"Please watch and protect those men who aren't with us here today."

Don't look good on you at all
The funeral is over
The war is gone
Why are you still screamin' in the night?
Baby, just ignore the people
Throwing trash at you
They don't know what you've been through
Stop looking at your hands
There's no blood on them anymore
Everything's fallin' in
Those concert sidewalks are turnin' into jungles
You can barely breath
As you watch your
Comrade's blood fall before you
Wake up wake up
There's no blood on your hands anymore
The funeral is over
The war is gone
Why are you still screamin' in the night?
I can't see you in this concert jungle
I think its funny
How no one saw your glazed over eyes
When you got that shiny little thing
Because its just something for your
Haunted memories to collect dust on
The funeral is over
The war is gone

The recent attack brought about by the unexpected and hitherto unknown changelings and their Queen, Chrysalis, had left much of the city damaged. By some miracle there had been no casualties, only a few injuries here and there. Of course it made sense. The changelings were, after all, using the ponies as a food source. It made no sense that they'd want them harmed.
Ponies all about the capital were grateful that the attack had left only structural damage. Damage which was easily rectified. But for one lone unicorns, the damage was far deeper.
Walking along the red carpet of the main hall of the Canterlot royal palace, Captain Shining Armour was looking uncharacteristically fo

I've wrestled with an opening to this piece for the last week, and I've finally decided to just go ahead and lay it all out for those who wish to make use of it.
Knowledge is power, and knowledge of climate-change science is serious lacking for a lot of reasons. Those reasons, however, are NOT what the True Believers in 'man-made' global warming would have you believe.
A lot of people on this site believe that things are not as dire as the heavily politicized IPCC and those governments which back it, would have us believe. Most of you do not really have the time to find the information you need to counter the often scientifically illiterate responses you get from those who would blame the human race, and more specifically the Right / Conservatives / Christians / the US / White people, for what we believe is just another phase in half a billion years of climate change.

His boss had already denied his existence, this shouldn't hurt him much more but it did.
Had he, America, not been able to stand on his own two feet for over two hundred years? Not only that, but he started by kicking Englands butt! Even though America meant no ill will towards England (he was just fun to pick on) he didn't think he really needed his help! Didn't America kick him out because he didn't want his help anymore? Americans are fully capable of doing heavy lifting, when weren't we? And when we are in over our heads, we never bow our head. We keep them up and except help.
America grimaced. Yeah, maybe he'd been a little overbearing a little over the top. But no!

'I need to see my brother' this lone thought resonated in Alfred's mind during his whole journey. 'I need to see he is alive and well'. He marched on, steadily, with a certain determination visible in his step. His head held high, his shoulders straight, ignoring his still sensitive ribs, Alfred led his troops by foot over to his brother's territory.
They travelled day and night until finally, on the 7th day, t
Bomb Aftereffect - AmeJapHonda Kiku, otherwise known as the nation of Japan, was kneeling on the scattered debris and rubble caused by the atomic bombs. His white uniform tattered and stained with his blood. There was a wound near his left shoulder and gashes on his arms, chest and abdomen. He had never felt so much pain in his entire life and never so much in past centuries. Honda's wounds consisted of his people and land. Dead. Gone. He could see in his eyes that those who survived were awfully dismembered and disfigured and most of them were civilians. Two of his cities blown up! Because of whom? All thanks to the United States of America. The first bomb had caused terrible destruction on Hiroshima, hence the wound on Kiku's shoulder. Despite of it, Japan didn't back down so quickly. There had been enough suffering until three days later. The seco

Cat and Dragon were walking on a New York sidewalk on the beautiful September morning. They were leigerly stroling heading for Alfred's appartment 7 blocks away.
"Hey sis, what time is it?" Dragon asked, looking up to the mighty Twin Towers in the distance.

"Sis... I there an airport near by....?" She asked worridly.

Why Free Market Capitalism FailsIn this essay, I expose the flaws in the two mechanisms that are supposed to power the free market: Adam Smith's invisible hand and trickle down economics. The notion of the invisible hand holds that in a free marketplace, the buyer's self-interest will tend to drive the price down, while the seller's self-interest will tend to drive the price up, so that both parties' self-interest will naturally cause the price to settle on an amount that both find reasonable. Trickle-down economics maintains that the rich are the ones who start and expand businesses and hire employees, so the laws should favor them increasing their wealth as much as possible so they can hire more people, thus growing the economy. Why Free Market Capitalism Fails4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This

'Give up' on the Constitution?!'Give up' on the Constitution?!3 years ago in Editorial More Like This
The New York Times just ran an editorial, "Let's Give Up On The Constitution." I don't think this effort can be considered some kind of anomaly. Virtually all of the media campaign for gun restrictions is based on precisely the idea that the Constitution has no relevance for public policy. So I see this article written by the professor of constitutional law at Georgetown University, Louis Michael Seidman, as simply cover for what is already going on.
"Imagine that after careful study a government official — say, the president or one of the party leaders in Congress — reaches a considered judgment that a particular course of action is best for the country. Suddenly, someone bursts into the room with new information: a group of white propertied men who have been dead for two centuries, knew nothing of our present situation, acted illegally under existing law and thought it was fine to own slaves might have disagreed with this course of action. Is it even remotely rational that the offici

"Feli," his voice raspy; he sat up in bed. "Feliciano Vargas,"
"Ve~, huh? What is wrong, Fidanzato?" was the answer he got from the Italian.
Trying not to glare in suspicion, Ludwig cleared his throat several times before asking, "What happened when I caught you doing something in the bathroom?"
"Ve~," Feliciano squeaked, not knowing how to answer. "N-nothing happened, L-Ludwig," Both of them could tell he was lying.
"Spill it, jezt!" Ludwig shouted. He wanted the answer, not tomorrow, not later; now!
"I DIDN'T KNOW!!" Feliciano screamed at him. "I didn't know, but now that I do, you'd probably kick me out and ban me forever! It's not worth it." He turned his back to Ludwig.
"What's not..?" the German tried to put a hand on Feliciano's shoulder.
"Leave me alone." The Italian muttered. "LEAVE ME ALON

You may know him as I am, I am Who I am, Yahweh, Jehovah, The Lord, The God of Israel, or simply God. So how did I end up here. I had wife named Asherah who was the most beautiful being in existence and had a total of 70 children. We lived peacefully but I felt at the time that we should create other beings since we thought that since we had the power, why not use it to make something good. Of course you all know the story and how it went bad. I can't say that I'm completely blameless since I didn't stop these things from happening. Unlike my son, I don't claim to be all powerful or all knowing. Well this is my story...

War Torn Heart"What a long horrible day." Ivan sighed as he sat down on a bench. He leaned back and looked up at the warm sun then closed his eyes. "I wish it is always this warm." He muttered to himself. As he leaned back forward he heard a familiar plop sound. "Not again." He sighed. He looked down and sitting in his lap was his heart. As he was about to put his heart back he stopped for a moment to look at it. He never noticed how beat up it was. Some parts of it where scarred and bruised and it seemed to be struggling to keep going. "Is it really beaten up this bad?" he wondered "I remember it was in a lot better shape, but that was a long time ago when I opened my heart to everyone. Before they betrayed me." His face saddened at these thoughts. He continued to stare at it thinking it could stop any second now.War Torn Heart6 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

It was a cold, dark night out in Skyrim, which was normal for the Northern Province. However, this particular night was even darker, and colder than the others, because Winter was fast approaching. However, it also provided for a wonderful ominous setting for what was about to occur. In Skryim, the winters were some of the coldest, given its northern location in the continent. Despite everything about the place practically shouting "COLD", an Argonian man wearing Dragonscale armor, a sign of having slain several dragons, was seen walking through the roads, with a woman of Nordic descent trailing closely behind. The Argonian had dark red war paint over his eyes, and dark green scales all over his body. Two horns sprouted out from the back of his head, and smaller horns lined his eye brows. His golden eyes looked along the wild scenery, taking in the still-breathtaking sights of Skyrim. Now, just because the Argonian man h
