Please forgive my poor grammar/spelling in advance, I am currently very much sleep deprived after a long flight.
Given that I still have a four hour wait until the next flight of doom I thought I'd actually TRY and write a journal to wish everyone a VERY Happy New Year (and a very belated Merry Christmas)
2012 was absolutely crazy for me, settling into the studio, moving house four times, becoming a Senior... etc... etc... and 2013 looks to be very busy already
Regrettably, I won't be around much this year as well but it will be the good kind of busy XD
I briefly mentioned this in my last journal but I will announce it again here to make it more official:
Redemption, my old manga that got me started into doing illustration and sequential arts in the first place many years ago, WILL be back online again in January 2014!
Redemption had many ups and many downs but I wouldn't be here, doing what I do now, if it wasn't for that manga. I never

Top 5 Lessons learned by John Q. RepublicanTop 5 Lessons learned by John Q. Republican in the 2012 election:Top 5 Lessons learned by John Q. Republican7 months ago in Personal More Like This
Sometimes Pollsters get it exactly right. Maybe it was luck. Maybe for all the wrong reasons. Maybe the lure of free stuff was underestimated. Regardless, many of the polls turned out to be pretty accurate. The problem with a dishonest, inept press is that you can overlook the few times they are truthful.
Stop w/ Democrat-Lite. It is not possible outbid Liberals. We need to convince people that things earned are far better than things given by govt. Both McCain & Romney were the most liberal Republicans and the choice of GOP elders. Failures are a lesson the GOP seems to ignore.
Turnout is key. You can't win if your party stays home. Abandon the base at your peril. If your candidate is on the opposite side of 2 major issues, Obamacare and Immigration, don't expect enthusiasm. Then once Romney locked up the nomination only the precio

If, despite the fact that numerous times I have presented all kinds of evidence against him, you still think Obama is God's gift to mankind, maybe a look at his latest scheme will change your mind. It's almost so blatantly clear that he is planning something he knows people aren't gonna like that it's almost embarrassing that I share a species name with people who don't see it.
You want the good news first or the bad news? Let's start with the "good" news. All the good I can see with our current leadership is that the next election is right around corner and we have a chance to possibly fix things (though not much will change if Romney replaces Obama). Other than that, there's not anything really that good happening.
Let's look at the bad news. It's kind of hard to think of where to begin, but let's start with the sol

Parts of "Brave" I worked onMany people have asked what parts of the film "Brave" I worked on so I figured it might be best just to post a journal entry about it. My role on the film was "Master Lighting Artist" but my general role is "LIghting Technical Director". Don't let the word "director" confuse you. I am not the head of lighting, it's just a term for every Lighting Artist that means our job tends to be technical and most of the "directing" I'm doing is kicking computers to get them to do what I want. For those who do not know what "lighting" means on a 3D animated film let me give a quick description. Pixar movies are not hand drawn like traditional animation. They more closely resemble stop motion film where a physical 3 dimensional puppet is made, a set is built, real lights are put in place and then an animator moves the puppet slightly then takes a picture, moves it again and takes another picture, until you have a whole "s

Our story begins in 1950 with Benjamin Francis Laposky, a sign painter and army veteran who was also an artist and mathematician. In addition to getting a kick out of creating Magic Square Puzzles, Ben created what is arguably the first set of computer generated images, "electrical compositions" using a cathode ray oscilloscope:

Hello everyone,
I have just recently received the opportunity to become the "Science Fiction and Space Art" Community Volunteer Gallery Moderator here on deviantART.
I am looking for "Science Fiction and Space Art" deviations to feature as Daily Deviations, and you can help.
If you know of any submissions that you think should gain more exposure and be Featured as a Daily Deviation,
and they are "Science Fiction and/or Space Art"related, send me a DD Suggestion via note.
I have info on my front page regarding how to suggest a DD if you have any questions.
I would prefer suggestions for artists that have less exposure and little to no previous DD's,
but I am not against awarding a Daily Deviation to worthy art from a more well known and decorated artist.
I simply want to try to focus on putting a spotlight on lesser known artists that have amazing art to share, so that their work ma

Comics Are ArtComic-Con Journey to the Heart of The New Summer VacationComics Are Art11 months ago in deviantART Blog More Like This
Americans have a long summer vacation tradition of visiting the foreign capitals of the world and being sure to spend at least one day in each nation’s most iconic art museum. In Paris, we visit the Louvre. In Madrid, the Prado. In Rome, the Borghese. We feel far more comfortable in identifying the different peoples of our planet through examples of their greatest art works than we do about identifying ourselves as being represented by any one iconic “American” art museum or artist. Maybe the country is just too big for one musuem and so it has always fallen to our pop arts to carry the true visual narrative of what’s going on in the hearts and minds of the masses.
Comic-Con has become the new arts and culture go-to in domestic summer vacation destin

The chaptered comic strip, has been collected into a 100-page graphic novel – and to the still-uninitiated:
It is not quite like anything you’ve probably ever seen before. The story follows “Zee Captain” and his sidekicks as they amble through a post-apocalyptic landscape. And while that hardly seems new and different, it’s the unusually superlative graphic quality of the comic cells and the Monty Pythonesque dialogues and leaps of logic that can become quite mesmerizing. Zee Captain, his face hidden by a gas mask that gives him a Darth Vaderish look, wears what looks like a Soviet Red Army uniform from WWII, and the strip does have nourish WWII feel. It’s as if the nuclear holocaust on Hiroshima and Nagasaki had never ended and spread to every major city on Eart
