Translated, the title means "Ardour of the Nine Races"
These are the peoples from the novel, “An Account of the Wands”, which I have been working on. The first chapter is in the scraps [link]
Well for now I’d like to introduce the races. They all come from Filipino folklore ^_^.
(left to right)
The Sirena are the female half of the Merfolk race. They dominate the seas alongside their Military force, the Merfolk males known as the Siokoy.
The Tao, or humans, are the oppressed peoples of the world. The other races, the immortals, blamed the humans for the destruction of the earth. This is true, for at the peak of human civilization, a terrible nuclear broke out that rendered the earth almost uninhabitable. As the earth recovers from the war, the immortals launched a massive hunt for the humans to destroy the race once and for all. My story begins at a time when humans have regained enough strength to strike back at the immortals.
The Dwende are the most proficient magic users of all the races. At the peak of Dwende civilization, they have established seven magic academies to further develop their craft. These are the Elemental, Mystic, Spellsword, Conjuration, Enchantment, Healing, and Archeology Academies. The main characters of my story, the Seven Wands, represent the seven magic disciplines of the Academies.
The Diwata are the wise and beautiful creatures who have dominated the other races politically. One of the main characters, Makiling, is the youngest and gentlest of the Diwata. Mystery surrounds this race however, as their desire for vengeance against the human race is greatest among the immortals.
The Kapre are noble giants who are also powerful warriors. They are superior to the other races in terms of physical strength. They were once bonded to the Dwende as their Military force. When the human hunt was declared finished, the Dwende released the Kapre from their bondage. The release removed Dwende control over the Kapre, but forged an eternal comradeship between the races. A very powerful friendship between one of the Seven Wands and a Kapre will cause a turning point in my story ^_^.
The Siokoy are bonded eternally to the Sirena as their protectors. The Siokoy are unmatched in combat whenever the battlefield is the sea. Over the years, they have developed tactics to match the other races in ground conflicts. One of the Seven Wands will eventually learn the ways of these agile warriors.
The Tikbalang are the mystical man-beasts who are bonded to the Diwata. They are matched only by the Siokoy in terms of speed. The Tikbalang are considered honorable as duty drives them most of all things.
The Atros are the self-proclaimed princes of war. They are superior to all other races in terms of military tactics and discipline. They are motivated only by combat. They were bonded to the Engkanto as their protectors. The eradication of the Engkanto could only be a result of the Atros’ fall and failure to protect them.
The Aswang are vampiric maiden servants of the darkness.
Speedpaint based on the WOT series by Robert Jordan
In the books the stone of tyr is described as a keep, built with the one force. The rocks of the cliff it stands on have been shaped in a castle making it seems as tho it grew out of the mountain. It is surrounded by the city of Tyr.
