Anatomy BooksCan anyone recommend any really good anatomy books, I've heard of them, in folklore and stuff, but whenever I'm in the enchanted forest of Bukstorre, the creatures always evade me. I thought I spied one swinging from a lofty branch, and swiped it with my net. But on closer inspection, it was a terrifying medical anatomy book, with pictures of organs and things, which is often the case, and at that the creature chuckled cruelly and clambered back to the tree boughs it called home.Anatomy Books3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I heard titters from behind the bushes, cruel whisperings designed to confuse. As my mind tried to fathom the distant sounds, I deduced rumors of the creature I seek. "But where?" I panted "at what price?". The air was still and I was abandoned. I clutched my bag of coins tightly to my chest, and swore a promise to it. That it would not go wasted on unnecessary quests. Determined to consult the oracle for direction, I transcended to the Web of Wonder, and sought an audience with the oracle of art, who knows wh

Getting involved with the Community and stuffHeya. So as some of you know, my Community Volunteer work is almost done, expires in 2 days time, back to being a :iconheartless-plz:.Getting involved with the Community and stuff2 months ago in Personal More Like This
I realise that there are many people out there who ain't aware of the Community, be it the contests thats happening or the charity events that are going on, or even just Deviantart News. In fact before I became a CV, even I wasn't aware of what is going on in Deviantart land, I was just in my own little dark basement drawing alone in my underwear not realising there are life outside of my cave. So to keep it simple. Here are a few groups to get your going. Getting involved with the community also gives you an extra boost in exposure to your art by the way. Its great.
:icongetdailydeviations: Is a great group to follow, as you can submit art in the group for a possible chance of getting a Daily Deviation, and a DD REALLY helps in letting people see your art. I mean look, you can be Michelangelo uploading the Sistine Chapel on Deviantart, the people who s

Edit: here are the answers : ) sometimes I gave it more thought/shortened to make more sense than in comments. Sometimes I changed the questions and cut my blabbery to make a concise FAQ. Sorry for that!
1. What program do you use?
It's been Painttool SAI for everything recently. I used Artrage and Photoshop before.
2. What brushes/brush settings do you use?
3. How long does it take to draw single illustration?
I should be answering this question under every deviation, I know, but I suck at artist's comments and usually it's just hard to tell O.o for paintings it's 8-10hrs for not-so-detailed rendition, and 20+ for fully rendered illustration. For Example:
(probably more, I've been working on that illust on and off. The stick itself took me
First Semester o' art college things!Well art college is a bit of a lie since it's not a strictly art-only school -- but the art department is dang wonderful.First Semester o' art college things!2 years ago in Personal Journal More Like This
ANYWHO I thought it'd be fun to show off some artwork I'd never really do on a normal basis for ya'll! And tell a bit about my experience in my classes so far :> I'll skip the English and Art History claseses though since that was just writing essays and listening to 50-minute lectures eugh.
This is probably going to get extensive an d descriptive, so bunker down with some nice hot chocolate and cookies while you read : >
When I first heard the title I thought I was going to be opening rifts in time and space, but turns out 4D is a fancy term for film class really. But it was cool! We learned a lot about the history of film and I got awesome grades with both of my projects. You see, in -every- class I had, minus art history, you get almost daily critiques on things. Critique sessions were wonderful, since it was probably the most helpful and supporti

"To escape criticism - do nothing, say nothing, be nothing."
Everyone wants to be praised for their work. It's the extremely rare individual who creates things and doesn't care how they're received. Dealing with criticism can be painful, but at the same time enormously helpful.
Let's begin with understanding the function that positive and negative feedback serve. Positive feedback (pointing out things you did WELL) increases commitment to the work you do, by enhancing your experience and your confidence, white Negative feedback (pointing out things you did WRONG), on the other hand, is informative - it tells you where you need to spend your effort, and offers insight into how you might improve.
With that being said, positive and negative feedback are affective and motivate differently, their impact varies from different peop
