Poem: The Song of My HeartThe Song of My Heart
From whence does the rhythm come?
From whence does the tune arise?
From whither shall it fall?
And who shall answer its beckoning call?
Shall it glide in the growing twilight?
Shall it waltz in the rising light?
Shall it pass through shadow fair?
Or shall it be left in memories care?
Will it once more dance with the body?
Will it once again teach the mind?
Shall it never again caress the heart?
When will it cease to break apart?
Is it a memory of the past?
Is it a call to the future?
Will it continue its prayerful song?
Or is the magic truly gone?
When shall the trumpets resound?
When shall the drums beat?
When shall love grace the strings?
When shall the words begin to sing?
When will grace carry sorrow?
When will mercy overtake horror?
When will melody ease grief?
Why can't I attain this wholesome relief?
When shall it again dawn with morning?
When shall the moon recover her memory?
When shall the babe dream in time with the score?
Why can't I acquire this kno
What I BelieveI used to believe, I'll tell you why,What I Believe6 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
What made me change, what made me cry,
I was made to believe a story of lies,
It's what they do, what I despise,
All this nonsense about peace forever,
It made me think, we're not all that clever,
Belief is a strong word, that's all I'll give you,
Many in the world, thats what they pursue,
But in the end, we all give up, belief keeps us going,
Till the end is near...When we just get scared and hide in fear,
Remember now little one; don't get caught up in lies,
Just read this again and it'll tell you why.
You were the river..."You remind me of the river."You were the river...6 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I remember when you said this to me.
[...But it was you that was always moving, seeing the world and leaving me behind.]
I know you always wondered why I never closed my eyes when you asked me to.
[ It was because I was afraid you would disappear as soon as I did.]
You were always changing the color of your hair to match your mood.
[I was always trying to match you,but you were always one step ahead.]
While you were frantically packing your bags before I got home.
[My heart was teeter tottering on telephone wires, while your's was already miles away.]
When your hands were busy exploring all her curves.
[Some where I was writing love letters you'll never see in old books you'll never read.]
After all you were only good at one liners.
[I was only good for one night stands.]
No GoodYou're no good for me,No Good6 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
I know this,
I've told myself this,
time and again.
I return to you,
and all you have to do
is smile and say my name.
I'm like an alcoholic,
like an addict,
I keep going back
to the one who hurts me most.
I know you can't love me,
not the way that I love you.
I keep hoping, keep wanting
you to love me,
you to want me,
you to need me.
To have you crave me
as strongly as I do you.
This love is poisonous,
so toxic to my heart,
and I still cannot stop.
Even though I know,
you're no good for me.
What You Cant Give HerEvery night, she cries herself to sleepWhat You Cant Give Her11 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
She prays to God, for him her soul to keep
But God's not the one that listens to her plead
It's Cupid, and he's not inclined to let her begging succeed
She doesn't really know what to do
She's got a real love, and she's so in love with you
It's a big love, a love quite unrequited
Look into her heart, do you see what you've ignited
She's on fire with the passion of youth
It's not her fault, she doesn't understand the truth
Types don't change and she's not the one for you
It's just that she doesn't know how to give up on her views
And in her eyes you're absolutely a hundred percent perfect
Even though you're breaking her heart with your willful neglect
But a broken heart is what she's used to
And she doesn't know quite how to blame you
She's a pretty girl, but not quite pretty enough
It's a hard world, but on her it's especially rough
She's got a shattered heart, its pieces fixed on you
And you're not the kind of guy that'll give her something new
Picture With A Thousand WordsI want to write you a poem in red and blues, greens and yellows.Picture With A Thousand Words6 years ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
I want to write them into the shapes of flowers and meadows.
Take the sun from the sky, each ray a word.
Visions of a breeze, movin through, unheard.
Seas of desires and wants, an ocean of hopes.
Vines that wrap around the sound of your voice like ropes.
Words of affection flowing down like rays of sun, warming the heart.
Basking in them, never wanting to part.
A picture with a thousand words, writing the landscape in my mind.
Calling for them to move mountains, written using every word I can find.
The letters, the syllables, none can quite do.
The job that the landscape can, that I paint for you.
So I'll write you the poem, and with it, the world.
The expression from the heart, that you have unfurled.
A picture with a thousand words, each on required.
For you, to you, and of you, all I've desired.
