The Fading KnightThe Fading Knight10 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
He rides through an open forest,
His visor down in grief.
Trees sway away from a worthless, pathetic knight.
Noble deeds forgotten by the ones he trusted.
The guiding light is now gone forever,
Knight's armor was once gleaming, now broken and dishearten by betrayal and lies.
Rusted into metallic decay,
Without the will to struggle on.
Lady in white, who would stay by his side, is faded into shadow.
Love has scarred this unfortunate soul,
Mending the wound shall prove to be difficult.
Sorrow-stricken heart is torn apart once more,
Happiness was within grasp.
Sadness has bestowed ash and torment.
Forgetting the purest of hearts and passion.
Once he was the upholder for truth and goodness.
It seems to be wasted for nothing.
No matter how hard he fought,
In the end, his hardships wasting away like frost-bitten skin.
Torment passes through these veins,
Love is all but a memory.
Dreams of bliss go into the river of Styx.
Still he rides along this path,
Sands of time will heal these wounds.
