The MomentTurning the plastic egg over in my hand, I stared at the dirty surface. It was painted on the front with "Baby's First Bank" and had my name and birthday on it. Although I knew what was inside I gave it a slight shake to hear the clatter and clink of the coins. My fairly new grown adult teeth bit down on my lower lip as I debated. My hazel eyes shifted to the bedroom door then drifted to the poster over my bed. My 'White Knight' stared back at me with his coy smile, his pet tiger cub descending his leg as if crawling off a rocky perch. The Moment5 years ago in Written Entries More Like This
The little dial on the bottom turned easily, easier than I'd expected, and the coins dropped out into my hand. Quarters and dimes, Susan B. Anthony coins, Pesos from my uncles, and the large Kennedy coins. The Kennedy coins were the size of my palm and likely worth more than their face value, but they were all I had. MJ Forever- a tributeIn memory he lives on,MJ Forever- a tribute5 years ago in Written Entries More Like This
His presence never truly gone.
A hope for a brighter day.
His love to light the way.
He gave of himself to all,
And broke down each and every wall.
United the world with one song,
In hopes that we could all belong.
No one was alone but him,
In the media's every barb and whim.
So many thought ill of a good man,
I never realized I was such a fan.
In trying to erase the pain,
I have removed the infernal stain,
Of others' views so wrongly told,
Just looking at them makes me cold.
Let him rest in peace at last,
Without the scars of recent past.
Let his family live without remorse,
To follow their chosen course.
Who he really was is unknown to most,
But in this I give him a deserved toast.
For all you've dealt with and rose above,
To want to return nothing but your love.
I thank you here and now,
And make this written vow:
To cherish what time I have,
And walk a more loving and thoughtful path.
Inspired by one so far away,
That I had forgotten until this day.
