but not your mind.
Well, at least not that much.
without the sinful touch.
You're so silent
and buried well,
behind the velvet curtain.
are these feelings certain?
I keep falling
back to you,
in realms of dark confusion.
Like evening tides,
I wander ashore,
seeking your love conclusion.

what about the ones that crack right through

You're Not Just a WriterYou're not just a writer. You may know it or you may not, but you're also a psychologist, a sociologist, and an anthropologist. Good writing captures humanity on a page and resonates with the reader, whether you want to fill their head with sad truths until they cry them out, or play with a reader's expectations until you've tickled their brains so hard their stomachs can feel it and they burst out laughing. You're Not Just a Writer2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Studying these things is awesome whether you want to make a profound statement about humanity, or just entertain people (or both at the same time). They can up your arsenal in your idea-pool to draw from, too. What makes a comedian funny is making witty observations that ring true to life--the audience won't find a joke funny if they can't relate to the situation in it.
I'm not saying you should necessarily go to college for these fields and study them really in depth. Knowing the names for each different type of brain cell isn't really what I'm talking about.

Devious Journal EntryDear Bullies, You see that 15-year-old girl holding hands with her one-year-old son that you called a slut? She was raped at 13. You see that boy crying that you made fun of for being a cry-baby? His best friend committed suicide last night. You see that girl that you make fun of for having all those bruises? She is abused by her parents. You see that bald woman that you made fun of? She is dying of breast cancer. You see that old man that you called ugly? He got a serious injury to his face in the war. You see that man that you made fun of for having all those burns? He ran into a burning hospital to save his dead daughter. You see that girl that you called fat? She is starving herself. You see that boy you called stupid? He has Down Syndrome. Like this journal and re-post if you are against bullying.Devious Journal Entry2 years ago in Personal More Like This
-Bullies are the real cowards in life. If anyone should be made fun of, its them. They are the scum that lines our planet and pollutes it with their harmful and insulting words.-

Imagination, Inspiration, and CurationAs deviants, we are serious about our craft, hobbyist or professional. We study hard to become better at what we do. There are many great tutorials here and elsewhere on these kinds of craft based skills and techniques. However, sometimes all that serious study and hard work gets in the way of our imagination. Therefore, it is important to remember to establish a wonder filled mindset, actively seek out inspiration, and curate a library of inspiring content to reference in the future. This article explores some ways to do these three things, and I encourage you to comment and share even more tips on this for other deviants!Imagination, Inspiration, and Curation2 years ago in Art Features More Like This

The biggest part of imagination is playing the part of Peter Pan. You might be 99 or you might be 12, but it is often important to imagination to be in the head space of a 5-7 year old. I

So lately It seems that a lot of Sexual Offendermans fans have been looking to explore the darker, more disturbing side of Smexy, along with the less proactive of the Slenderman fandom who are content to simply complain that sexual offenderman isn't scary enough, or is too much of a farce, or worst of all that he is ruining the fandom!
if you dont know who Sexual Offenderman is, Read this

while I'm not one to be swayed by those who refuse to give him a chance and yet pass judgement anyway, i have to admit that I have not been as skillful as perhaps i should have been in depicting how terrifying of a monster he can really be, since admittedly as an artist i lean more towards being a comedic one rather than one that writes horror story's.
It's quite obvious that i need a bit of h
suggesting DD's (daily deviations)Edit on Sept 3, 2013: I changed this article a bit after I had a friendly chat with some of the (former) volunteers and senior members of the website. I hope the details help you in making even better submissionssuggesting DD's (daily deviations)2 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Everybody on DeviantArt seems to know about the Daily Deviations, or DD's. The handful of artworks that makes it to the frontpage every day. The artworks that are shown at the bottom of the site all day long, and get loads of exposure. I guess they're the wet dream for many people on DA.
DD's are usually a reason for discussion. I can't even begin to count the topics on the forums that are about why some deviations are chosen over others, and how the quality of those deviations keep declining year after year. Not many people know, however, that's it's not entirely up to the staff which works are picked. And that we can have our own vote on this.
So I can have an influence
LITERATURE ROADTRIP SIGN UPS CLOSED!EDIT:LITERATURE ROADTRIP SIGN UPS CLOSED!1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Yes, sign-ups for Literature Roadtrip 2.0 are now closed. There are so many of you, and I am so happy because of this. (Though this does mean it will be more difficult to choose for the first three days! Ah!) But I look forward to travelling around deviantART and discovering some amazing literature. I will be spending the next few days narrowing down everything. A timetable will be posted on January 9th. And everyone will receive their list of deviants around the same time, as well as some more information, through notes/messages.
Get excited fellow deviants!
Yes, you are correct, I am hosting another 'Literature Roadtrip'!
Back in June 2013 I created the first ever 'Literature Roadtrip'. I have had a number of requests to do another one, and have finally found the time to host it. However,

As a founder of the biggest advertising group, I want to help every artist, every dream, and everyone.
On December, 29, 2012. I started researching on "how to get your art notice and more popular, Not only on DA, but around the world.
I have come across lots of advertising websites, to test out which site can help you get most views and noticed results.
After 2 weeks of researching and comparing dates. I come to found out Reddit.com has the best Feature,Designs and sources to help you get your art more noticeable and gain more views.
What is reddit.com?
It's basically a free advertising website.
How to Advertise?
You basically just need to copy a link of your art in DA and submitted the link to advertise.

How to Get a Life.Exactly a year and a half ago today, my mother had turned to me and told me something. She had said, "You will never manage in the real world. You will never be independent. Stop trying, you just don't have it in you."How to Get a Life.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Today, I am happy to say, I have proved her wrong. Because I did exactly what I was supposed to do. I went out and got a life, and the kind of life I am proud of.
Over the last year, I have found my soulmate, completed my Masters, gone to Sweden and South Africa, got a job as a teaching assistant in a special needs school whilst I figure out my PhD and, as of the 8th of March, will be moving to my own very nice apartment with K.
Remember this. If I can do it, ANYONE can do it. I am not special, I am one of the 99 percent, and if I have the strength to fight, it is because you were all by my side every step of the way. Thank you...thank you for being there for me. Thank you for helping me change my world for the better.
I am back for good now, and I am going to try and ge
From SpecialIf everyone is special, then no one is specialFrom Special2 years ago in Personal More Like This
If everyone is a winner, then no one won
If everyone is included, then your secret club is not secret
If everyone is invited to your party, why would I feel unique by being invited?
If everyone deserves to be successful, then why bother working hard for your goals?
If everyone is special, then special means being normal
If everyone is a winner, then winning means the same of losing
If everyone is included, there is no club but generic mankind itself
If everyone is invited, then unique is the same of equal
If everyone is deserving, then an inventor is the same of a robber, a soldier is the same of a hobo
then life is the same of death
then happy is the same of sad
Equality is not a virtue. Equality is the destruction of meaning
That Equality is considered a virtue is the greatest tragedy of the modern man
Crazy Stuff that people are supposed to believeA lot of common-sense and survival instincts are supposed to be suppressed, and we are supposed to believe in this MAGICAL stuff:Crazy Stuff that people are supposed to believe2 years ago in Personal More Like This
- Don't judge a book by its cover: It asks us to ignore our senses and our sight, and put ourselves in danger. If you have to take a taxi, will you choose one that looks destroyed, with crappy doors, and with a dirty driver, just because HEY may be it is a hidden jewel!! No, it is not. It is stupid and illogical. You will end up abducted, raped or murdered. If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.
- Stereotypes are false: We are supposed to think that that stereotypes appeared magically without a reason. The truth is that stereotypes are the collective product of accumulated experiences. YES, we know that NOT all the snakes are poisonous, but if the stereotype is that Snakes are poisonous then I have to be careful around them because DARN a bunch-load of snakes are poisonous a

The Art of LifeWe have opportunities of exploring "entire worlds". We can express the deepest thoughts of our soul. The Art of Life1 year ago in Personal More Like This
We can create our masks and go through great distances. Nothing is impossible.
When we complete a connection, we feel we've expanded our world - real or imaginary. Each creative production we see is a possibility of looking through different eyes... and learn. It's an endless apprenticeship.
Perhaps in many moments we work in the dark. But undoubtely it's very good to feel this energy that move us. This strengh gives us huge options, and everything seem to be boiling. There's no intense search that is calm.
The human mind has many entrances and maybe only few ways out. And when the ideas come, we feel like creating is life.
And life is movement and unquietness.
And life is too much to be nothing.
HUMANS ARE FINE!!WE ARE GREAT!!!HUMANS ARE FINE!!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
HUMANS ARE NOT THE WORST EVER
But humans are cruel!
Facts: Dolphins rape, Lions kill other animals they wont even eat. It does not mean we have to hate them!!!
Because the world is not perfect. You cant expect the humans to be perfect when the world is not. WE ARE FINE!!! WE ARE GREAT!! We are the only animal that has visited the Moon!! WE ARE EPIC!!! STOP THE WHOLE "Humans are evil" BUSINESS!
BUT HUMANS ARE THE EVIL!! THEY HAVE WARS AND STUFF!!
Wars occur between primates, and between ants. War is natural. Nature is just that way, cruel. HUMANS ARE FINE!!!
BUT WE HAVE BRAINS AND INTELLIGENCE!!
It only means that we will be more effective in our wars. If dolphins could, they would NUKE each other I AM SURE!! BUT THEY CANT BECAUSE THEY ARE STUPID!!! HUMANS ARE THE EPICKER!!!
