1. Hello! For the beginning, could you tell us something about yourself?
Hello! My name is Šárka, pronnounced Sharkah. I’m a 20 years old student of biology at Charles university in Prague. I come from the south of Czech Republic (the country with beer) , from beautiful South Moravia (the region of wine). I have a tarantula called Ungoliant and I love everything related to J.R.R.Tolkien.
2. When did you read Tolkien's books for the first time, and what impression did they leave in you?
When I was 10, I found an interesting book in a
On Writing - DialogueAnother article for :iconthe-bards-college:On Writing - Dialogue2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Dialogue is one of the hardest parts of writing for new writers. You would think it should be one of the easiest since we talk all the time, but it is very easy to fall into a stilted, unrealistic, boring conversation when you first start.
1) Listen to real people talk
I found this tip time and time again when I was researching this tutorial. By listening to how people talk – absorbing their cadence, slang, phrasing, pauses and exclamations, we learn how we want our characters to speak.
As fanfic writers, we have an added bonus in that we can specifically listen to our character's ways of speech over and over by replaying their dialogue multiple times. I know when I started writing Cicero, I would obsessively look for clips of his dialogue to study the rise and fall of his voice as he talked and pick up phrases that he used.
Sometimes when I am stuck on how to write dialogue without sounding stilted, I will pick u

Song from the other wallSo I've been living in my single room dorm for 2 years straight for college. There's a song coming the wall from the left side of my room from time to time, only in the bathroom actually.Song from the other wall4 years ago in Personal More Like This
It's very well sang, like that of a professional singer, and it's a very old era song, like something from an opera.
I've always thought it is a very nice song, and didn't think too much of it.
But actually, no modern college student would sing a song like that, and it definitely doesn't sound like from a record machine.
I didn't give much thought about it since I'm surrounded by other college students.
But then, only now it came to me that the left side of my room is a locked room and noone lives in it.
I could hear the song so clearly it could only be coming from the left side of the wall.
Asked my neighbors around and noone even sings, not to mention the tenants change frequently in my dorm and I'm the only one who actually stay for 2 years in the same room.
I've been pretty blunt about this althou

:iconchefugluk: continues working on his LEGO Skyrim project, and he has already gotten as far as Bleak Falls Barrow!
Check out the latest episode! (it has to be one of my personal favourites)
A buddy of mine, :iconchefugluk:, is undertaking an ambitious project to shoot a LEGO stop-motion movie based on the main quest of TES V: Skyrim, with a few additions from other quests and add-ons! Working painstakingly to recreate the environment of the frozen Nordic province, he uses modelling clay and LEGO bricks in impressively faithful models of locations such as Helgen Keep and the upcoming Dragonsreach. He also reassembles and alters parts of conventional LEGO figurines (such as Marvel's Loki or Tauriel from Peter jackson's Hobbit trilogy) to create LEGO likenesses of TES NPCs, from Ulfric and Tullius to unnamed Stormcloak soldiers, as shown in this process video:
The first episode, Unbound, has already been released:
Excitingly enough, it earned a re

In what universe is it okay to say, and I quote, "You're pretty pale for an Indian, but it's in your eyes; all Asian-like."
For those of you who don't know, I'm half Mi'Kmaq. And it always surprises people because I didn't inherit my mother's darker complexion. They don't believe me until I show them my card, sometimes.
I've never been suspended before. I will now give you the full story, before you jump down my throat.
So, we're studying the aboriginal peoples of Canada at the moment in my Canadian History class. I usually find the class pretty boring, but I need it if I want to take Global History next year. But obviously I'm pretty perked up over this unit. Now, my classmates were already giving me grief, because if I haven't told you already, you should know that I normally don't talk in public. As in, I only say two or three things in the run of the school day. When I was younger, Jeffery would speak for the both of us, and I never had too. And

Photography Troubleshooting: Capturing AutumnFor many Photographers, Autumn is now officially here and is one of the most exciting seasons to capture in terms of colour, change and vistas. Early morning mist, late afternoon sun, orange, red and golden hues - Autumn has a lot to offer in many countries. If you're like me, Autumn often arrives all at once and it can be tricky to know how to make the best of the season before it's over. A couple of days of high winds and rain can ruin the best Autumnal captures by ripping the leaves down before you've even got the chance to snap - so it's great to be prepared for the season.Photography Troubleshooting: Capturing Autumn3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Leading lines are particularly useful. Yet so many people quote ' Look for leading lines...' or 'You've captured the leading lines here perfectly' and really do we even know properly what they are? The purpose of a leading line is to draw a viewers eye into the photograph and then on a journey - through it. Think of it as a visual narrative. They can be intentional and ind

The liberals don't care about those kids who were killed in Connecticut. They were salivating at the mouth the moment it happened as this would give rise to the final straw in their anti-gun agenda. Infact, after the Aurora Movie Theater shooting, Bloomberg was already preparing propaganda for the next mass shooting, and the shooting that followed Aurora was Sandy Hook http://politicker.com/2013/03/after-aurora-how-m
Guide to being a Sane fan: HetaliaNew to the Hetalia fandom?Guide to being a Sane fan: Hetalia4 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Getting tired of being called a 'Hetatard?'
Fans of Hetalia calling you the 'reason people hate Hetalia fans?'
All of these and more?
That's why I'm here to help.
This will be a mini guide on how to be a sane Hetalia fan.
1. Don't be obsessive over your OTP (one true pairing) or OTPs. And especially remember to only hate the ship, not the shipper. Let's face it. They aren't canon. The only one's that could be called canon is AusHun, ChibitaliaXHoly Rome, and SuFin. The rest are just ones we the fans made and support.
I'm gonna pick on FrUK for a second, so bear with me FrUK shippers. You're the 'biggest' FrUK fan ever. So you're going through your messages and you see the pairing you hate the most - USUK. And you know what makes it worse? It's not even a picture. It's a fan fiction with horrible grammar and spelling (the horror!).
You see this abomination. You comment on it with this - 'FUUUU!!!111!!!FRUK IS CANON!!!!111!!!USUK SUKS!!U SUK!!!!FRUKKK IZ DA LUV

For many of us, the first “art gallery” to command our attention (and constant, even daily, monitoring) in our
lives existed within the pages of the local newspaper. It was called “the movie section” and its ever-changing movie
advertisements were like little frames that rarely contained less than pure magic for young imaginations.
The Film Poster has existed since the earliest days of silent movies and the pulse-elevating excitement of the
first sight of an upcoming adventure, action, or sweeping love story that we might have only “heard good things about”
still packs a psychic punch throughout movie lovers today.

A Warning in Another’s Eyes
Stop and Stare
Staring is not the same as intently gazing into another person’s eyes as a manner of communication.
That can be a quite pleasurable experience. Staring into another’ eyes too often presages the delivery of a warning or very bad news. The fixed stare is the facial equivalent of a flashing amber light, indicating you should proceed but only with great caution. Keep that in mind as you peruse t

For the love of all things. Learn to speak the English language. If English is your native language, you have no excuse to speak it incorrectly.
1. For starters, if you don't know what a word means don't use it! It irks me so much when I hear someone use words incorrectly. They use it just because it sounds cool. Like irony for example. It is ironic how often that word is misused. Irony does not mean sarcasm. Irony does not mean something weird. If you want to use the word irony, know what it means first.
2. Second of all, sentences never end in a prepositional phrase. Don't know what that is? Honey, go back to first grade. A prepositional phrase is a word or phrase describing where something is placed. For example: in, at, from, in front, behind... The most commonly misused I hear are at and from. 'Where's the book at?' or 'Where did you get the paper from?' You do not end sentences
