Howl ch1 pg1"Hey, can I borrow a pencil?"
These words, as casual as they were, sent shivers down my spine. It was the way he said it; so normally but at the same time disturbing to no end. I wasn't sure if I was the only one that was scared - no, terrified - of him. Don Barker gave me the creeps... but I couldn't resist him.
"N-No, sorry," I replied quickly. I pretended not to notice the odd look he had given me, obviously wondering what he had done wrong to make me act so cold. It hadn't been the first time he had spoken to me. He asked me plenty of questions, but mostly trivial things such as borrowing a pencil or a sheet of paper, or what tonight's homework is. For this I was thankful. One, because I knew that if we got into a full conversation, I'd blubber like an idiot and blush uncontrollably. Two, because every word he said sent me unbearably over the edge. Whether I was crazy, had a sixth sense, or just paranoid, I didn't know. I couldn't stand to hear him, let alone be close to him.
Dear You pg5I was finally able to get the stupid grape out of my pants without anyone except Sasori noticing, and he laughed his head off the whole time. It was kinda bad, because I even had to unbutton them to get it out. I held the damn thing in my hand for a minute, then threw it at him. He yelped and said, "Gross! I don't want your disgusting pants grape!"Dear You pg55 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
I could have sworn I saw him turn red. As I had done earlier at the lockers, he looked away to hide it and said, "That's nasty."
"I went through a lot of trouble to get that grape out," I laughed. "At least you didn't get one stuck in your pants."
"I think I'd die of embarrassment, to tell the truth. If I were you I probably would have kept it in there."
It was the day of my birthday. It was a Saturday, which was pretty lucky, so I didn't have to go to school. I was pretty excited to finally be eighteen, but I didn't really feel older.
The phone rang, and I had no choice but to get it since I was home alone (my mother was out shop

That smell, so familiar to my sensitive nose, so taunting and tempting at the same time. The first and tiniest drop of that crimson liquid might as well have me insane already. I want it, but it's on my forehead and I can't reach it.
My wrists are bound above my head, my ankles tied to the board as well; No way in hell I could possibly reach that liquid.
Maybe this is Hell?
It sure feels like it.
Whoever thought of this device was a bastard.
The smell is filling up my nostrils and I can barely take it. The drops of blood are so warm and inviting on my head.
I wish I could extend my tongue and taste it.
I didn't mean to hurt one of my own kind.
They provoked me. It was their fault. I shouldn't be here.
If they were still alive, they should have been the one in here, under this twisted version of... what's it called?

"I think all we can really do is call the police."
He looked at me, shocked. "I don't want to end up in jail," he said quietly.
"They're bound to find out sooner or later," I pointed out. He shook his head.
"I have a plan."
Fifteen minutes later, we were standing in broad daylight out on the sidewalk next to a corpse with blood on our plastic-gloved hands. The murder weapon - or the fake murder weapon - lay next to his body. It was a steak knife, taken out of the utensil drawer. The real weapon had been a scalpel. I didn't know how Sasori had ever gotten one, but he had cleaned it off in the bathroom sink and hid it back in the closet with the puppets of his parents.
"I swear, you're like a goddamn criminal mastermind. Why the hell do you have these latex gloves?"
"These, the scalpel... I got them back when I made my parents into puppets. Well, actually, the scalpel used to be Granny'
Dear You pg4We started hanging out daily. We got to know each other more and more. I figured out that he was, in fact, seventeen. His birthday was November eighth, and I told him that mine was May fifth. I was upset that I had missed his birthday, because I really could have gotten him something nice, but since my birthday was only a few weeks away, maybe I could invite him to a party or something. Just the two of us, because he was pretty much my best friend. Sure, I had tons of friends, but I didn't get along with them as well as I did with him. And since whispers were already going around the school about how people thought I was hitting on Sasori (which I was, but he didn't seem to notice), my friends probably didn't trust me as much as they did earlier. Hell, they were probably a bit scared of me. I knew that some of the girls I was friends with would be totally disappointed, but hey, no one's perfect.Dear You pg45 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This

"Thanks," he said, still sniffling.
"Uh-huh. As long as you don't do that to me."
He had apparently taken this sentence seriously, so he looked at me wide-eyed and said, "Never!"
"I was kidding!" I laughed. I sat next to him. "So, does your Granny know about them?"
"Yeah. She found out not that long after I made them. She apparently saw me sitting in front of the closet, staring at them." He laughed a little. "Must have been creepy since they look so real."
"I guess I'll have to burst Hidan's bubble and tell him that I'm not leaving you." I said.
"So, he hinted to you about them?"
"Yeah. I think he was trying to get me to break up with you so he could be the guy that I come crying to. God, what a retard."
Sasori did his cute giggle and said, "Well, I can see why he would want you so badly. You're certainly the best person I've ever met."
"Ha! Do you use that line on your Granny when you want more wood?"
Dear You pg26This time, the thing he pulled out was a vial of what I could see was purple liquid. There was no way it was anything good. I knew that instantly.Dear You pg265 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
"What is that?" Konan dared to ask.
"Swallow it and find out," Sasori replied, his eyebrows furrowed. "It's something I've worked on for a while. I started it when I was away, actually. Of course, I kept it secret from the guards. I wrote down every material I put in it. Nasty stuff." He popped off the cork and tried to force Konan's mouth open, but she struggled too much. She grabbed the vial and backed away, closer to me. Before I knew what she was doing, she had pried my mouth open. She held the cold glass dangerously to my lips and warned, "I know how you feel about him. Call the police and turn yourself in or he gets it."
Sasori growled almost like an animal and picked up the switchblade again.
"Wrong move!" Konan said quickly, and before he could do anything to stop her, she tilted the vial.

"Will you shut up already? You're not going to jail."
"Why would he go to jail?" Mom asked. We both jumped. She had been standing in the entryway from the living room to the kitchen. We stared at her for a minute, racking our brains for lies.
"He's not. Uh... It's a line from a movie." I said nervously. He nodded and she raised her eyebrow, then said, "Okay..." and disappeared again. He sighed and stopped tapping his foot, switching instead to chewing his fingernails.
"Okay, I know you weren't this nervous when it happened to your parents," I said quietly.
"Yeah, but when it happened to my parents, I didn't know that what I was doing could get me into a shitload of trouble."
"Stop chewing your nails. It's annoying."

Dear You pg16"Deidara, someone's at the door for you," Mom called. It was the first day of summer and I was sitting alone in the living room, staring at the television but not really seeing it. "What do you want?" I demanded. Hidan was looking back at me, his emotions unreadable. Mom gave me a warning glance and walked away.
"Just decided to drop by and say hello. Mind if I come in?" He smiled sweetly; I wasn't fooled.
"How do you know where I live?"
He ignored me and pushed past, inviting himself into the living room and looking around like a fat kid at a bakery. Being in my house must have been like being in heaven to him.
"Is this your room?" he asked, eyeballing the door on the left wall of the living room.
"Don't go inside." I spat. What the hell was he planning? He turned the doorknob slowly. I walked over to him and threw a mean fist at him, but he jumped to th
Dear You pg2Ah, I guess I jumped into the story a little much there, didn't I? Let me introduce myself. My name is Deidara. I've got really long hair, but I don't want to cut it because I personally think it's kickass. There's this big long strand that covers my left eye. I've got blue eyes. I'm also not afraid to wear eyeliner (guyliner, ha!), so I put it on every day before school. Hey, someone told me it looked sexy once. Too bad it was a girl, though. They're okay, but there's just something about guys that's just a lot more appealing. I admit, every once in a while I see a girl that I think is cute, but not often. Call me whatever you want.
That guy I was crushing over? His name is Sasori. He's got kinda shaggy reddish hair and hazel eyes. He also has really thick eyelashes, but it just adds to his charm. He's definitely the best damn thing I've ever seen, and I don't regret saying that because it's true. Male or

"Uh, Sasori... How do you make puppets?" I shifted a little, not sure what I was getting myself into. Hidan had seemed genuinely worried in the hallway, and for some reason, it bugged me.
"Well, first I think of a design. Sometimes I base them off of real people, but not very often at all." I had just sent him into a long explanation. "Granny knows a guy who's a professional puppeteer, so we get the wood and stuff from him. I work on most of them in my room, but sometimes if I get lonely I sit in the living room. It can take a long time, but if I feel really inspired then I finish it in about a day or two."
"Weren't the puppets of your parents the first ones you made?"
"Oh, yeah." He smiled sadly.
"What did you make them with, since they were your first?"

Dear You pg7We sat for only a few minutes after that, then spent two whole hours walking around. We laughed at kids that fell off the monkey bars and "accidentally" kicked sticks in front of skate boarders. Sure, it was mean, but it was a hell of a fun time, especially spent with Sasori. He seemed to get a kick out of it all, and every once in a while he'd give me a hug or gently brush away the strand of hair covering my left eye. His fingers would brush against my cheek, tickling me. Sometimes it made me laugh a little, and he'd chuckle along with me.Dear You pg75 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
Eventually we got tired of the park, so he grabbed my hand and wrapped his fingers around it again, pulling me. I asked him where we were going and his only reply was, "It's a surprise."
"Not even a hint?" I begged.
"Nope. Don't look so scared - I know you'll love it." He kept smiling to himself, and it was driving me crazy. I didn't hate surprises, I just hated wondering what they were.

"So, what made you even want to go out with that guy?" he asked, starting with the most annoying question.
"Is that really any of your business?" I countered.
"Well, sorry. You know that I'm just concerned." His face turned pink. "Even though it's none of my business."
"It's alright. I shouldn't be such an ass to you." I snickered. He forced out a quiet laugh. We were keeping our discussion to a whisper, only half-paying attention to the teacher. I only looked at him from the corner of my eye to assure that no one else in the class saw me talking to my "enemy."
"You have an excuse though, because I'm the same to you. Worse, even. To be honest, it's mostly jealousy." He shook his head and chuckled again, his cheeks now a bright red. "Bu

"Stop being such a baby," he said with a grin.
"I HATE butterflies!" I growled.
There was a giant, colorful butterfly on his nose. It had flown into my house from when we walked in, coming home from school. I had started freaking out when it landed on his nose, so he had somehow tackled me without the butterfly flying away. He was sticking his face really close to mine in a very awkward position. I hoped Mom wouldn't walk in.
"Why do you hate them so much?" he asked, crossing his eyes to look at it.
"They're disgusting. You think they're all cute and pretty but when you see them up close, they're so nasty-looking." I turned my face to the side so I wouldn't have to stare at the stupid butterfly. He finally climbed off of me and walked outside to let it fly away. When he came back, he was laughing to himself. He laid down on the floor next to me.
"I can't believe you're scared of butterflies," he laughed
Dear You pg3The next class was Social Studies, so all you really had to do was listen to the teacher rant and only write down the really important stuff. I followed Sasori to the very back row of desks. We sat side-by-side in the corner. I knew that where he sat was his usual seat, because I often looked back at him as he wrote. As soon as the teacher started talking, he asked, "What made you want to talk to me?"
I gulped. Did he seriously have to ask that? What the hell was I supposed to say? You're the most gorgeous person I've ever seen and I couldn't resist your charm? Sure, that would go down well.
"You looked lonely, is all." I shrugged as if it was that simple.
"Really? That's it?"
I nodded. He laughed a little - the cutest laugh I've ever heard - and it made me smile. Shoot, I would have held his hand right then and there if it wouldn't h
Dear You pg1There he was. That gorgeous kid that always sat by himself at lunch. I knew I had been holding back for too long, and I knew that this was my chance. After all, it was spring and I had practically stared at him every day. I usually went home after school starving because I forgot to eat, too distracted by him. It must have been something in his eyes. Something secretive, something... that kept pulling me towards him. I don't know how to explain it, but it was like it was calling me. It had been calling me all year and finally, I decided to walk over to him and set my tray down next to him. That way, I could glance at him from the corner of my eye without him noticing.Dear You pg15 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
I was shaking, and I knew it, so I began idly poking my rice with my fork. I cleared my throat and said, "I realize you sit by yourself a lot." Not good - my voice was trembling, as well. I felt myself turn beet red. What a moron.

Dear You pg8It was the huge moment of truth. I had no idea how to spill the beans. "If you don't say anything, I will," he mouthed while Mom wasn't paying attention. I cleared my throat and said, "Uh... Mom?"
"Yes, dear?" She looked up at me sweetly. I started getting jittery and I couldn't help but think: What if she was disappointed in me? I wouldn't be able to stand it. Before I realized I was just staring at her, she asked, "Is something wrong?"
"N-No," I said quickly. I thought for a minute and continued, "I... I have to tell you something."
"What is it?" She looked worried, seeing the way I was hesitating.
"Please, just... Don't start fussing and freaking out." This was a really bad way to start the whole deal, I could tell, because no

"Get it, get it, get it!" I growled again. The ball flew right by her. I turned and ran as fast as I could for it. I finally grabbed it and tossed it back to the pitcher (or "roller" as we called it - after all, we were playing kickball). I jogged back to my spot and sighed angrily, "Pay attention once in a while, yeah?"
"Geez, sorry." Ino flipped her wispy hair and rolled her eyes.

It was a picture of us. Well, more like it was a picture of him with this evil grin on his face while he took off my shirt, and I was copying the grin and directing it towards whoever looked at the picture. Looking at the drawing made me blush. Who knew he could draw something other than puppets? There was only one thing that threw it all off.
"Why does it seem like you're seme?" I whispered. He broke into an uproar of laughter. The teacher stared at him for a minute, but continued sorting through papers.
"It's just a drawing, Dei." He looked at the drawing again and said, "But I have to admit, it came out a lot better than I planned. I never draw complete humans."
"I can only draw stick figures..." I said sheepishly. "I'd never be able to draw anything like this. Only thing I'm really good at drawing is explosions."

The phone rang about five times before I gave up and set it back on the hook. I sighed irritatedly and banged my fist on the wall. Mom walked in and asked, "What's wrong?"
"My life," I growled, not raising my head.
"Oh, no." She hugged me. "Tell me what happened."
"Sasori... um... broke up with me."
"Why!?" She stopped hugging me and turned me around by my shoulders. She looked straight into my eyes, and I couldn't hide my disappointment. I replied, "I accidentally... kissed someone."
"How do you accidentally kiss someone?"
"I didn't know that it wasn't him!"
"...Huh?" She looked at me quizzically. I took the time to explain the whole thing to her. She gave me another hug and told me that everything would be alright and Sasori would come to his senses soon enough. I told her that I didn't think so because it was a pretty intense kiss. It made me get a bad taste in my mouth again, so I went to get some juice from the fridge.

"Sure. What's wrong?" Something told me he was crying. Maybe he wanted to see me in person, give me a huge hug, and tell me that he wanted to get back together. My stomach was filled with butterflies. After another moment of silence, he replied, "Just come over. As soon as you can. Granny's not home - I'll leave the door open for you. The only difference between us was that I was just an inch taller than her and her hair was down to her waist. Mine was only a little past my shoulders.
"Are you having anyone else come over?" she asked.

"Plan?" Konan repeated, swinging open the door and stepping out of her house. Sasori (or Toshio) and I were on her doorstep, and he had just knocked. She had been quick to answer, most likely worked up about the origami. She shut the door behind her. "What plan?"
"Well, I thought that maybe..." he hesitated for a moment, looking at me as if I knew what he was up to. I raised my eyebrow and he finished, "maybe you'd like to get something to eat with us?"
"I don't like eating out," she said rudely.
"You can teach us how to do origami while we eat, then."
"You're hell-bent on hanging out with me, aren't you?" She eyeballed him suspiciously. "It's going to creep me out soon."
He shrugged, turned around, and started walking down the sidewalk. Konan and I followed. She asked in a whisper, "What's up with him?"
