About the pic

I ever wanted to do such a pic. And finally I'm pretty happy. I know there are still some things that seem to be kinda off but I don't care because the whole image is (in my opinion) in harmony. The most time I spent on the galaxy that is about to be destroyed by a giant black hole. Some last Star-Destroyer are on the run. Unfortunately this epic scene takes place behind the planet, so you won't see it :( I'm really sorry but I had to pay some attention to realism, and a planet isn't transparent. :giggle:

Prodigium

:bulletred: All wallpapers also are available at GT-Graphics.de! :bulletred:

Prodigium is my first entry for Luminarium's latest exhibition named Genesis. What does Genesis mean? An origin, creation, or beginning. The act of producing or causing to exist | A genius creation.

My first thought was, to creat again a dual-screen wallpaper. I made a poll and it was very clear that you guys wanted one again. I really enjoyed working on the pic and it took me a lot of time to finish it. The concept and composition changed several times (most helpful advise came from ^gucken. Thanks again! The scene should be very clear. If not, please tell me what you see there.

Please note

There are really large sizes available this time. You only are allowed to use it as your personal desktop-background. Prints and commercial use only on request (and paid). If you run a wallpaper-page and want to include this wallpaper, ask me. You're not allowed to add it to your page without permission this time due to the file-resolution.

There'll be no excuse for theft and I'll use every help I can find (little hint: lawyer)! Thanks for your understanding!!!

Supremus Lucernarium

It started as a little play with world machine and ended up as a new wallpaper. To avoid confusion: the planet on the right side got hit by an asteroid. The asteroid had enough power to cut a rift into the planet. The image shows the moment when the sun is right behind the planet and shining through this hole. I'm not completely sure about that part because it also could be some kind of crazy explosion. But due to the strong light of the sun, you won't see the hole itself. But I hope my little explanation made it clear :)

The rest shows a peaceful planet with some smaller colonies. The viewer (you) stands on a platform enjoying the sight. And yes... there are birds on this world. Why? Because I made a cool photo and because I like birds :D

Victim of Gravity

:bulletblue: Ladies and Gentlemen.... I proudly present my victim :D
This was some hard thing to do. It's the best that is possible for me now. I ever wanted to creat a dual screen wallpaper. And here it is. Broken planet in the middle of the screens was my intention to get a better blending from one to the other screen.

:bulletblue: Story behind it? The pic speaks for itself. If you have a problem with realism: I don't care :D I wanted it the way it is. The biggest problem was the huge planet on the left. Why? Because of the filesize :D

:bulletblue: Some information
- 13.333 x 5000 px @ 300 dpi
- 50 layers (more painting this time :D)
- Photoshop, 3dsmax, Wacom Graphire 4

:bulletblue: Wallpaperpack
- 3360x1050
- 3200x1200
- 2560x960

- 1440x900
- 1600x1200 (2)
- 1680x1050
- 1920x1200

:bulletblue: If you use this wallpaper, pls fav it. It's supposed to be a wallpaper and no stock. No use for other pics without my permission. And of course no commercial use!

edit 5-31-2009: changed nebula, added ship, changed details on both planets, added some more wallpapersizes

Asteriant Prime

:bulletblack: Asteriant Prime is a highly developed planet with giant city-scapes. There also is life on his moons. Due to the climate, which is very cold and windy , there are only a few savage colonies. The image shows the search for a shuttle that crashed on one of them.

:bulletblack: The snow is not falling from heaven but blown away from ground by heavy storm. I used the freedom of art and ignored some issues ;)

:bulletblack: Timeframe: about one month (unregular working-time), mixture of photo, painting and 3D
:bulletblack: Hardware used: Wacom Graphire 4, Canon EOS 350D, 50D
:bulletblack: Software used: Adobe Photoshop, 3dsmax
:bulletblack: Other important things used: coffee, music

This is my entry for the latest exhibition "Reverie" of =theluminarium, which can be found here: TheLuminarium

Latitatio

This image has been made for Advanced Photoshop Issue 67. I wrote a tutorial about it which has been published there. I know it's not my best, but it was a very new task for me to create a tutorial for a whole image.

You can buy the mag here and have a little preview here. I really hope it helps some of you out there.

Thanks for reading :-)

Phlegethon

Bit of fantasy this time as I wanted some more possiblities and less restrictions regarding physics etc. You don't have to tell me that this scene is kinda unreal and not possible :) The image is not about reality but about a feeling I had. That is why it turned out the way it is :D

Whatever the scene is showing to you: it's right :la:

:bulletred: Eternal Moment :bulletred:

This is the second picture in my series named "First Snow". I really had fun doing the image and I love the mood I finally got there. I would love to see such a morning.

Used Terragen as base, but only the smaller mountains in the background are original, rest are own stocks. I also tried to improve my flares. And, of course as usual, some little details such as the pengiuns standing there an chilling :D

Excidium
The end of a beautiful day

So what? What if everything is fine or even nearly perfect and then the worst case happens. How to react? Just accept it or try to fight against it?

And no... everything is fine (at least for me. just a bit busy but who isn't) It's just a question I'm asking myself from time to time. I had a lot of dreams in which the world ends (my world). And my brain explores different ways of handling the situation. Sometimes I just gave up. Sometimes I tried to reach the persons I love before the end. Sometimes I just enjoyed the last days of my life and they were beautiful.... peaceful and warm. And sometimes I experienced the feeling of dying. The heaviest dream I can remember was the one where a nuclear bomb detonates above my hometown. I was feeling the fire burning my skin. I don't know how it feels if your skin is burning because I never experienced it in reality. But if it's like in my dream, I never never never want to die this way.

Some deeper thoughts this time, I'm sorry for bothering you. But that's what art is for, isn't it? Expressing feelings.

I hope I'm not the only one having such dreams... that would scare me :D

Rest is Photoshop and done with my graphic tablet.
