What is wrong with fan characters? So what is really wrong with having a fan character?
Apparently, theres something wrong with having one. And having one with a very developed story that intertwines with the characters of said fandom (assume its Naruto and I WILL destroy you). What really is wrong with having one is beyond me, but it seems if you do a few stories with fan characters, or original characters to be specific, the story will go unread.
Really, are you that shallow-minded?
Ive been writing fanfictions on and off for years now, since 2004, varying between what my interests were at that point. So YES I have a Naruto one, BACK. OFF. It was originally going to be a different story, but I got so pissed off with people saying it was amazing, I revamped it and now its just basically smut with a bit of a plot. And its STILL faved and commented on with a Continue please (insert annoyed s

Part One: It's Not As Bad As You Think
Any writer who has opened their work to criticism or posted their work on the Internet (oh wait, that's the same thing), has undoubtedly heard the term "Mary Sue." In all likelihood, you've heard this term because one of your characters has had this label thrown at them. Perhaps the fear alone of having your character turned into a dartboard for flamers has driven you to discover the definition of this term. In fact, it's likely that the fear of this label has altered your writing and characterization in some way. Has it driven you to be less shallow, and make your characters less shallow? Good! Has it driven you to think more carefully about your plot devices to make sure you're not pulling a Deus Ex Machina, and to keep a close eye on your characterization to make sure you're not derailing any of their personalities? Good! Has it driven you to b

Chapter 1: Questions and Answers
You knocked on the office door of your very good friend, Orihaya, Izaya. NO ONE wanted to be enemies with him yet no one wanted to be his friend. You did see why people feared him but he really was a nice person if one was friends with him! Well at least you thought he was a nice guy. There were times when he did act strange, like randomly burning chessboards, but who wasn't strange in Ikebukuro?
You saw the door open and there stood Namie, a slightly annoyed look on her face. Not directed at you...but at the work that Izaya was giving her and comments about how her brother preferred a head to her.
"Konbawa." You bowed a bit to her before entering. She closed the door behind you, going back to putting files and books away.
"Ah! ____(First Name)-chan! How are you tonight?"
"Izaya-kun! Genki! Anata wa...?"
"Mhm! Genki!"
"Anyway, what is it that you wanted to talk to me about?" You smiled as y

There are so many of them.
They light up the sky with their brilliance.
The moons lights up the sky as well,
Softly, as I sigh I just ponder why I'm here.
Why am I alive?
What is my purpose?
I close my eyes to try and think,
And as I do it begins.
Slowly, almost as if like an old movie scenes flash before my eyes.
My first best friend,
Playing kickball in grade school,
Moving across the country and leaving behind the only family I've ever known.
Arriving in my new state and meeting the family I didn't know I had.
Watching them all interact,
While I'm stuck on the outside not knowing what to do.
Then, suddenly the scenes begin to speed up.
My first big southern storm flashes as brightly as the lightening did that day.
Moving an hour away from my new family.
Starting school late and feeling all alone.
Meeting my new friends,

Chapter 2: I won't Black Out!
Screaming, cursing, and throwing of objects were what your ears were used to these past few days. Crying was also another thing both your ears and eyes were growing tired of. You have tried to be mature about the situation and talk with your ex boyfriend, Nobuso. He became defensive and tried to cover up what he has been doing without your knowledge. When he finally realized that he was caught, he tried to turn it against you, as if it was your fault the relationship failed.
You were so angry and frustrated with his excuses! You knew that you weren't going back to him, but you wanted to at least know why he did it. The answers he gave you were not what you were expecting, making you wish you never asked. The reason why you were still trying to talk to him was because of the apartment issue.
Who was going to be the one moving out? Not only that, but who will pay for the upcoming rent? You usually split the bill, but now that you t

You stared at the large, shiny bruise. More specifically, your large, shiny bruise.
'I knew I shouldn't have played baseball with him and Gilbert!' you mentally yelled at yourself.
The day before, the three of you had been playing a simple game- you were pitching, and Alfred and Gilbert took turns hitting and fielding.
You didn't expect for Alfred to hit the ball right into your eye. And you definitely didn't expect for that to happen the day before the monthly World Meeting.
You groaned. No matter what you did, you couldn't do anything to hide the overlarge black eye. You had even called Elizaveta up, hoping she had some suggestions, but she only had one- wait it out. Well that was helpful.
You stared at your reflection again then sighed. There was nothing you could do about it, and if you didn't leave soon, you were going to be late. And you had already missed last month's meeting due to the flu, so you weren't about to miss this one.

Celty halted Shooter and took out her PDA.
[(F/N), what are you doing here alone?]
The raven-haired girl looked wild, like an animal as she did when they had first met.
“I’m looking for Izaya Orihara. Can you take me to him?” Her voice was strong and she seemed determined.
[Izaya is bad news. You shouldn’t get involved with him. Especially now that you’re living with Shizuo…]
(F/N)’s eyes flared with anger.
“I know he’s bad news. That’s why I want him to get away from my sister. She’s changed by just living with him for a few days.”
[Does Shizuo know you’re out here alone?]
“No and frankly I don’t care about him right now. Getting that creep away from my sister is my top priority. I mean no disrespect when I say this Celty-san, but if you won’t help me find him than you are of no use to me.”
(F/N) walked off leaving a shocked Celty behind. Celty knew it wasn’t right for the high

Sasori sighed and stretched, forcing the blonde to slide off of him. No big deal, Deidara. We needed to head back early anyway, so its better that you woke me up early, instead of vice-versa. Deidara was the epitamy of an anti-morning person. Hed even gone as far as to throw bombs at people who dared to wake him too early. This had never happened to Sasori, but in the puppets mind, it was only a matter of time.
Deidara sneezed again, and Sasori gave him a concerned glance. His partner had been out in the rain for six hours the night before, and had gone to bed with a wet head. Dei, are you ok? he asked, reaching out to feel his partners forehead.
Of course, un! Deidara sprang out of the bed to prove it, which also moved

It wasnt that Deidara was talking too much, or blowing things up. In fact, he hadnt disturbed Sasori the whole trip. Which was what was bothering the puppeteer. It was ironic, he thought, how he was annoyed both by his lovers talking AND the silence he had always sought for. Sasori figured it wasnt the silence itself that truly bothered him, but the idea of what the silence meant. Silence meant Deidara was thinking. And if Deidara was thinking this hard about something, most of the time it wasnt good. Sasori snuck a glance towards the fellow artist and felt a pit of worry form in his stomach at the dejected look on his face. He decided the best thing to do would be to express his concern. Before the silence drove him mad.
Brat, what are you sulking about now? Deidara scowled slightly, and Sasori reflected there were probably gentler ways to let his partner know he was worried.

Alright, come here. Deidara walked over to the chair Sasori was sitting in and sat on his lap, receiving a hug and kiss. Better?
Slightly, un. Deidara sighed and leaned against Sasori. I dont wanna leave you, un.
Its just for two weeks, brat.
Im not a brat, un! Sasori chuckled and gave Deidara another kiss. Then quit acting bratty.
Deidara rose to his feet and walked to the door. Bye Sasori danna! With that he was gone.
Sasori turned his chair back around and returned to working on his puppets.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
The two weeks went by much faster than Sasori would have anticipated. He was almost upset when th

Deidara and Sasori had been going to the same school for years, but the red head doubted the blonde even knew about his existence. Theyd talked a little in class, played on the same team in P.E., all the usual stuff. But they never hung out, they never talked just for the heck of it, and they knew absolutely nothing about each other.
Well, that wasnt entirely true.
Sasori knew that the blonde had a speech impediment, and liked to let his hair stay long. Kids often teased him about it, even going as far as beating the poor kid up before or after school, calling him a freak. Hed often seen Deidara come into class with cuts and bruises on his body, with his trademark grin still painted on hi

"Itachi...you're being unfair. Un." He grumbled to his dark haired friend. "Please..."
"No, Deidara. For the last time." The Uchiha responded, not taking his eyes off of the long, Arizona road that lay stretched out before him as he drove.
Really, why did they listen to Hidan's bright idea? Driving from Texas to California instead of doing it the easy way and flying? That was ridiculous!
Male Bonding Time, he said...tch. They lived together, went to school together, occasionally fucked together...what more 'bonding time' did they need?

Sasori sighed and rose to his feet. He really should be used to this by now. Deidara, why are you wearing my shirt again? The blonde seemed to be making a habit out of stealing Sasoris sleep shirts.
Deidara giggled. Cause theyre comfy and smell like danna, un. The same answer he gave every time Sasori asked him that question.
Sasori sighed again and sat on his bed. Deidara stole his shirts fairly often, usually after the article in question had been worn for a day or two, so it was softer and really did smell like Sasori. He was seriously tempted to put a lock on his dresser, but never actually got arou

Sasori and Deidara were currently sitting in their room, doing nothing out of the ordinary; Deidara was molding his clay, and Sasori was going back and forth between paperwork and his puppets. The duo had just returned from an extensive mission, so there was a pretty good chance that Pein wouldnt give them a new assignment for a few days, maybe even a week. Needless to say, the two artists were bored out of their skulls.
Deidaras mind had begun to wander around, finally coming to rest on a single thought that had been bugging him for a while. Too bored to let it go and far too curious to find out what the answer was, Deidara had finally voiced his question, much to Sasoris surprise.
You heard me danna. Do you ever get nightmares, un? Deidara was pretty sure the puppet master had dreams when he slept (with more then a few of them had involved Sasori whispering the blondes name in his sleep), but in the entire c

The boy listened as he sempai gave a frustrated sigh from inside the room, followed by the sound of bedsprings creaking, indicating that the blonde was now seated on the bed.
In spite of the pain he felt in his heart, Tobi couldnt help but grin. Hed managed to get Deidara to talk again. And in the masked nins opinion, that was a huge accomplishment.
Ever since Sasori had died, the sculptor had been, well, mopey, to put it bluntly. He rarely left his room, unless he had a mission, and hardly ever spoke with another member. The only way Tobi could get any emotional reaction out of the bomber was to annoy him.

Sasori didnt move; this person must be an assassin. But obviously not a very good one, or else he would have already noticed the puppet mans movements. Maybe it was his first big job.
