Got a chance to go behind the scenes and get up close to some western lowlands gorillas. It was pretty cool being just a couple feet away from this big Silver-back named Mrithi. He is the leader of the Western Lowland Gorillas the Pittsburgh Zoo.

I went to see my favourite Orangutan today.. Emma..

and she came over to see me as she usually does and she has had a baby!! It was so lovely that she wanted to show it off

the keepers didn't even know she was pregnant.. and I haven't visited for a while because of work.. so it was the first I knew of it.. I don't think the baby has a name yet.

She wasn't staying long though as there were people beginning to flood in so she went and hid behind a bush for some peace and quiet..

I did what I could to share it with everyone.. I never use a flash because she is so close and I wouldn't do that to her..

RIP Charlie. This image is of dear old Charlie, the mascot for Monkey World in Dorset, he died in May 2008. He was with the sanctuary since it opened and he will be sorely misssed.
