Here's my newly reorganized and cleaned-off desktop - I've finally gotten used to Libraries in W7, and I'm a fan. See my gallery for icons etc. Uses zero background processes (and therefore resources) besides "Skinny Clock." See fullview for crisper detail. Yes, netbooks have small screens. Yes, my netbook is my primary computer, and yes, all graphics were created by running photoshop on it.
This is a minor mod of the basic Aero theme for Windows 7.
It removes: - White gradient in upper corners of window frames - White diagonal stripes behind all aero glass (window frames, taskbar, etc.) - Dark smoke behind the start orb and clock area of the taskbar
The theme makes Aero look much better against dark wallpapers.
To use, first download and run the Universal Theme Patcher [link]
Then download my theme, and extract it to C:/Windows/Resources/Themes
Go into the Themes folder, and double-click on aeroplain.theme to apply.
You may need to restart again after you apply the theme to remove the stripes from your taskbar.
[UPDATE | 03 July 2009] Removed the dark smoke behind the start orb and the clock area (not shown in screenshot). Taskbar is now uniformly transparent. Thanks to Generator at sevenforums.com for his help!
These are simple, minimal icons for common file types designed to compliment the dock-style application icons in Token [link]
Each of the 32 icons has a dark and light variant, and is saved as a windows ICO that displays crisply at pretty much any resolution you throw at it (the 16x16, 32x32, and 256x256 sizes are each tweaked for their resolution).
The above preview shows all the icons currently included, before you go through the trouble of downloading.
I haven't published anything in a while, but I have been experimenting with some new icons as I transition over to the Mac. I know many users of Token run Windows 7 - rest assured if I publish icons I will do so in device-neutral formats as well.
Using Mailplane, iStat, Candybar, SlimBatteryMonitor, Black Menubar. Wallpaper is Childhood from the Dreams2 pack I've used before.
