* This is NOT my cosplay. I don't know who these people are, I just took a picture of them.

Character: Julia
Series: Cowboy Bebop
Photo taken by LJinto at Katsucon 2012

A photo of our Bebop group at Katsucon. ~Dessi-Desu as Julia, ~TresWildCosplay as Faye, and my wonderful boyfriend as Spike. Also, take a look at the awesome wig fluff that is Spike's hair. I'm absolutely awful at styling "messy" styles, so ~TresWildCosplay stepped in and took over, so it looks a lot better than it originally did.

Julia's suit is probably one of the most mind boggling things. It's full of why's everywhere. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed wearing this at Katsucon with my wonderful group. Aside from the heels, this is probably my most comfortable costume.

Construction notes on Julia:
Construction-wise I'm not completely satisfied with everything and want to make some revisions. Next time I wear this costume, I'm hoping to have the buckle casted. This time around because of weather and time constraints, I opted to just make one out of paperclay. It ended up cracking a little, which I expected, but for the most part it held up like a champ.

This was my very first time using vinyl! I used a 4-way stretch vinyl, which has a very beautiful sheen. I knew, when I made the decision to cosplay Julia, that I wanted the details on her suit that makes it distinctly her catsuit. I ended up studying reference images of her to figure out what all was going on. I decided to put some piping details along the zig-zags on the torso, under the bust, across the back, and I even did the weird butt piping that you can see going across Julia's bum in the infamous image of her and Spike together, with her back facing the viewer.

I really did enjoy wearing this costume and it was the highlight of my weekend. The costumes in our group were so well-received and it was so rewarding to see how excited it made Bebop fans around the con. I can't wait to make some improvements on it and wear it again.

My Quorra costume was constructed by me. Chest and arm armour constructed from scratch out of craft foam, cardboard, styrofoam and tons of super glue Suit and identity disk are made with reflective tape. These photos are taken with flash photography which create the light up effect. I am currently working on lighting the suit for the movie premiere December 2010.
