Inspired by the films (and trailer) - S(tar)T(rek)T(erminator)S(alvation)T(transformer)S
EDIT: I apologize for not being able to answer all the notes and comments I recieve! But you all know how much I appreciate it! Info - I spent about one week, on and off, on this painting. There are some photographic elements, like the fire.
I had time to make one more before client work kicked in, so happy! It's so much fun to do some personal stuff once in a while, especially when getting so much positive feedback from you guys. It makes it 10 times as funny!! I'm really glad you liked my D9 tribute!
Prolly spent around 4-5 hours on it, photoshop cs3. This guy has been playing some grab ass with his robot buddies at the office.
I was a little rusty when I did my previous matte so I decided to do another one, kinda stole the idea of people living in mountains from Dylan Cole.. in the same fashion I've stolen most of my ideas from him.. but nevermind that! Anyway, maybe this is how Stockholm could look in a postapocalyptic world.
I wish I had painted something else but I'm still going to dedicate this painting to our beloved sweet little cat who's unfortunately going to have to leave us tomorrow. She has been a part of our family for 13 wonderful years. I love you dearly my little friend and I truly wish you didn't have to go....
Sometimes I think I'm to fucking fragile to be a part of this world.
As for the painting itself, I hope you like it. Robots again.. started on it yesterday, finished today.
Alright I give up, I don't have the strength to work on it anymore! There are some errors in the composition but I wasn't going for the perfect comp, I was going for action and mayhem and I hope I managed to deliver that.
I might update it with more stuff later.
EDIT: Yes, there's a lot of over painted/integrated photos in this one!
where do I begin... I rarely have time for personal stuff these days. As some of you may have seen already I am working with Radical comics and director Joseph Kosinski (Tron Legacy) on a graphic novel set to be released sometime next year. That + a few other freelance gigs is keeping me pretty busy these days, but after seeing District 9 last week I just HAD to make some fan art. I LOVED LOVED LOVED that movie, I thought it was absolutely fantastic and brilliant in every way and I can't wait to see it again. Now I know there are inaccuracies all over the place but I had almost no reference pics to look at and a limited amount of hours to spend on it so... Hope you dig it anyways.
I also want to thank everyone for all the comments, faves and notes I recieve, and I'm truly sorry that I don't have the time to answer you all.. :/ It's just impossible for me right now.... But I appreciate it, you know that!
Also, if you manage to figure out the nonhuman language at the bottom you might be able to figure out the story of the painting.
[PATHETIC RANT] Seriously guys, I don't mean to bitch and moan in every new post but I just gotta blow off some steam. This may not come as a surprise to some of you but if you're new in this business, especially in times like these, get ready to get seriously fucked. I'm fairly new in the game but I'm already becoming more and more cynical. I mean I work hard and I try to be honest and fair to people, but the way you get treated in return... is it worth it? You have to be immune to bullshit in order to survive. Or just not trust anyone.
oooooh well, another friday night, and still have no life.. feel sorry for me dammit! [/PATHETIC RANT]
This one's heavily influenced by the works of [link], [link] and Gears of War. Was planning on adding alot more stuff but I got tired of it.. Wanted to move on with something else. I've been painting so much enviros lately I'm beginning to feel uncomfortable with painting characters. Gonna have to mix it up a bit.
I tell you the only thing that keeps me going right now are you guys. I'm totally serious about this. At least you're not lying or trying to screw me over... Love ya'll!
Shit I'm beginning to sound like a complete drunk.. Better get some sleep. Been a long time since I got a good nights sleep..
Have a nice weekend my friends
P.S Check out the latest vid from Realtime: [link]
This was done before I started working here though, it was actually our friend [link] who did the concept/matte work for this.
