Gerard-- a life in quotes (part 1)"There’s angst but it’s different. I think we’re rebelling now as a rock band. We’re trying to keep it pure, but we’re not playing victims anymore. We’ve realized that we’re one of the youngest bands at our size. So there’s a responsibility that comes with that, whether it’s to fans or to outside listeners who aren’t fans, to be the greatest American rock band. That was the goal. And it took a while to get there, but we’re just being the best My Chemical Romance that we can be."Gerard-- a life in quotes (part 1)3 years ago in Personal More Like This
“I write them wherever I may happen to be when I get hit with inspiration. A lot of times I just make notes of sentences. What I usually do is write paragraphs of free style, just really descriptive phrases and I’ll draw upon those phrases later. I try to get the sound before I get the lyrics.”
"Freedom is a real big theme. We needed freedom to happen for us on this record so

“It’s amazing to be here with people who love music in a non-violent way. If you’re mad, don’t throw a punch, don’t start a fire about it, don’t shout about it. Sing, that’s the most powerful weapon you have.”
"I thought if we made an album that tried to change the world, or give it hope, it would really happen. But all people found was death and destruction and misery and self-hate. I learned that the world doesn't want to be saved, and it will fucking punch you in the face if you try."
"Me and my kid brother used to grow up—we used to grow up? Everybody used to grow up! We had comics, and that’s the only thing we had to escape the kind of place we lived in. And it made us lift up our heads, make

“We have the best fans in the world because they are pretty much as crazy as we are.”
“I don’t know why but I’ve always hated myself. Hopefully that self-hate is growing into something else now; hopefully it’s grown into caring about myself and wanting to stay alive.”
“Nobody’s in the middle with us. It’s either ‘I love them’ or ‘I want to kill them’. People love us and believe in us or they want to see us destroyed. And I love that.”

Gerard-- a life in quotes (part 2)“It’s more important to keep yourself alive, there’s nothing worth ever hurting yourself over. I mean, I’m a person that goes through a lot of depression, and stress, and things like that. I’m generally happier these days. But I have, it’s normal, it’s completely normal to be depressed. "Yeah, obviously we use vampires as a metaphor for something else, something deeper than just the supernatural. But there's just something about the bloodsucking walking dead, that can say so much to people. There are really so many people trying to get control over you on a daily basis and steal your soul in some way, take a part of you..."
"It all started off with the best intentions, but I took it too far and I ended up on a trip. There were some moments when I felt like I was on a crusade. I don’t k

Killjoy Name-maker :DJust a random idea I had sometime ago...Killjoy Name-maker :D5 years ago in Personal More Like This
For those of you who might have trouble thinking of a killjoy name for yourself or are just bored feel free to use it!
The name might sound odd or something, so if you want you can just mess around with the names. Just thought this would be cool.
Okay, this is the first part of your name. If your first name starts with the first letter here, the first part of your killjoy name is word next to it.
Now the second part of your name. If your last name starts with the first letter here, the word next to it is the last part of your killjoy name.
Stalking vs. Normal Fan BehaviorMy Chemical Romance, as far back as I can remember, has never had a normal fan base. The fans have always had a certain passion and drive for the band that many other bands cannot replicate and arouse in their own fans. This devotion has led to good developments within the fan base with such projects like #Sing it for Japan, a music video driven by mostly fan made creations. Yet amidst all of this are some controversial acts of devotion that have sparked a split within much of the fan base in what is right or wrong.Stalking vs. Normal Fan Behavior3 years ago in Personal More Like This
The controversial behavior in question started to appear more frequently during the band’s Black Parade Tour in 2007. Video footage of fans stalking them to their hotel is all over YouTube: fans screaming for them to sign things well into the night. It should come to no surprise though. My Chemical Romance’s The Black Parade had sold 1,169,697 copies in the U.S alone by August 25, 2007. It was certified as 2X Platinum in the UK. By 2010, in t

Being in this band for the past 12 years has been a true blessing. We've gotten to go places we never knew we would. We've been able to see and experience things we never imagined possible. We've shared the stage with people we admire, people we look up to, and best of all, our friends. And now, like all great things, it has come time for it to end. Thanks for all of your support, and for being part of the adventure.
My Chemical Romance
Right now I can't believe it's real. It feels like a dream. What upsets me most isn't the loss of new music: I still like MCR, but they haven't been my favorite band for a long time. I'm not sure what happened, I guess I just "grew out" of the music and started listening to other things.
But I was still very invested in the guys and their lives, as well as the fandom here, and-- as silly as this sounds-- i
News on Gerard and Ray + and MikeyEdit: There's some news on Mikey after all: according to this article, he's performing backing vocals on one of Gerard's songs. Wow, a duet (kind of) with the Way brothers. Am I dreaming?News on Gerard and Ray + and Mikey1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Gerard won two Kerrang awards: Hero and (I've heard) Best Twitter. He also did an interview with BBC radio. You can listen to a clip here about the break-up and his upcoming music, and download the whole interview at the link provided. He also posted some selfies, including this gem:

Neither of them say much that we didn't already know, but it's still interesting.
Gerard actually posted an address for fans to send him mail: http://www.altpress.com/news/entry/gerard_way_my_chemical_romance_posts_fan_mail_address_reflects_on_mcr_album Wonder how many fans are going to disregard the "don't make it weird" rule...
Also, Gerard, Frank, and Ray are apparently working with James Dewees on his new album: http://www.kerrang.com/blog/2013/03/three_members_of_mcr_linked_to.html
And Christopher Gutierrez (one of Mikey's friends) made a good Tumblr post that I think fans will appreciate: http://deadxstop.tumblr.com/post/46089580615/thank-you-friends
Finally, you've probably noticed this already, but Mikey's been tweeting again. Good for him.

A Fab-Seeker's Guide to FabFirst of all, a big HEY to all you Kayjays out there. It’s been several apocalypses and a half since I last spoke with you lovelies, and I want to thank you for hangin’ in there with me. How the hell’ve you all been, tumbleweeds?A Fab-Seeker's Guide to Fab2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Before you ask, I’ve been fabulous. And if this surprises you, you should promptly take out your 3D glasses, stick ‘em onto your nose, and keep reading.
I’ve been hearing reports of a BL/ind-hosted website that uploads videos of us Kayjays for BL/inders’ viewing pleasure. Now, here’s the do: the videos have been edited so much that we look and sound like a bunch of goddamn BL/ind employees (wtf, right?). I mean, if you’re gonna edit the fab out of my style, you might as well go pop the world with a needle and watch as it squeals away into the darkness while you’re at it.
So we come to the loud climax: a list of BL/ind edits, visual and verbal, and what they really mean. There are thousands of
A Killjoy Christmas PoemA Killjoy Christmas Poem2 years ago in Personal More Like This
‘Twas the night before Christmas, and in the first Zone,
A little red Killjoy was headed for home.
His sled was a Trans Am with sand-crusted tires,
And a sleek gleaming hood with a spindly spider.
The windows were down, and the radio blared,
And a chill winter wind whipped the frost through his hair.
The Trans slightly swerved on the ice-covered road,
Leaving slushy brown tracks in the powdery snow.
In the trunk of the car sat a small leather bag,
Covered in stitches, old patches, and tags.
Heavy lumps shifted beneath the worn leather,
Clanking and chilling in the icy cold weather.
Inside the dark kitchen, with a rusty steel grill,
Kobra curled up on a mattress to ward off the chill.
With a glowing orange heater that hummed on the floor,
And a heavy blue blanket that warmed him to the core.
Ghoul was sprawled out in the cramped storage room,
Squeezed in with the buckets, the towels, and brooms.
His mouth hung wide open, and he let out a snore,
Mood Meme for WritersMood Meme for Writers11 months ago in Personal More Like This
A while ago, a "mood meme" circulated the Internet where people would draw their characters with different expressions. I was thinking today that you could do the same thing, but with writing. That might sound too simple, or even impossible--what do you write? "She looked sad." "He felt happy." But it's a lot more complex than that, and the advice I'm about to show you completely changed my views on writing.
The first piece of advice comes from Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club.) The entire quote is here, and it's the single best piece of writing advice I've ever read. I've heard the "show, don't tell" rule before, but this explains it an entirely new way, and opened my eyes to a lot of "telling" that I didn't even know what I was doing. After you read it, I guarantee that your writing will become clearer and more vivid.
Some words on the cheating scandalThis hasn’t been confirmed by the band (at the time of writing this), but there’s very strong evidence that Mikey has cheated on Alicia with another woman, who he’s now engaged to. Normally I wouldn’t bring this up until it was officially confirmed, but I do think certain things need to be said. Some words on the cheating scandal2 years ago in Personal More Like This
First of all, here’s the story: a woman named Sarah (I’ve heard she’s a 20-year-old model) posted photos on her Instagram of her and Mikey kissing and cuddling, and claimed to be engaged to him. Here are the photos: http://ffrankiero.tumblr.com/post/41569121654/moette-what-the-hell-is-going-on-im-so (She made her Instagram private after fans found it and started commenting.)
At first people thought that Mikey and Alicia broke up and didn’t tell anyone, but Alicia tweeted she’s devastated (she’s since made her account private), and Lyn-Z has backed her up and made angry tweets that are presumably about Mikey. So apparently this was news
Mikey finally tells his side of the story...aaaand, there was no cheating involved. You can read his tweet here: http://www.twitlonger.com/show/n_1rrjs19Mikey finally tells his side of the story2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Now that the air has cleared a bit, I feel like there's a lot of subjects that I need to clarify. As I've said before, my relationship with Sarah had absolutely nothing to do with the band breaking up. The band had dissolved prior to me and her ever being together, but it wasn't announced until much later. Secondly, the infamous Tumblr post that circulated the Internet was full of fudged facts in an attempt to embarrass Sarah and I. It was full of slanderous and untrue statements in an attempt to make a "good news story". In fact, much of it was directed at a person other than Sarah. It was blatantly made by a friend of my ex who did everything in their power to make us look like we were "horrible people". The fact that the post was magically deleted proves that the person knew I would find out their identity, and they would have faced serious consequences. Sarah and I di
9/11-- Just a reminderMCRmy Boston made a good post and I think it should be reposted here:9/11-- Just a reminder3 years ago in Personal More Like This
To those of you who are old enough to remember 9/11 you have some understanding of how horrible it was. I understand at this point, some of you were too young or just babies at the time, but I want to remind you that this is a serious thing and it's not to be confused as a celebration because MCR was formed from after it and it is not to be taken lightly so I hope that whatever you may say online today, on whatever site you go to, is respectful and tasteful on behalf of all MCR fans.
So just as a reminder, yes, something good came out of this tragedy, but please be respectful and don't try to use this as a party day. I think I can trust most people in this group not to do that but I'm posting this just in case.

Also, Patrick Stump posted a great blog about "haters" of his music and how it's affected him: http://www.patrickstump.com/post/18474641989/we-liked-you-better-fat-confessions-of-a-pariah I know that's not MCR-related, but even if you're not a fan of Patrick or Fall Out Boy, every music lover should read this. It really makes you think about musicians and how thoughtless words can affect them.

I’ll give you a generalised being from what I’ve seen/read/whatever (and you might learn some psychology from this also);
There’s this guy, let’s call him Terry- ok? This isn’t someone I know, this isn’t anyone you’ll know, this is just a made up person called Terry who carries all of the opinions of all the people I’m talking/will talk about later on.
Now Terry likes Rock, Metal, Alternative, Screamo- all of that side of the genre. And in his life time he has either seen/experienced a lot of teasing for liking Rock and wearing black. So he’s moderately angsty. These people usually like the other side- Pop, R and B, Rap, Hip Hop etc etc. He doesn’t like those people, he won’t listen to that ‘crappy music’. He’s heard of Sophie Lancaster (a young british woman who both she and her boyfriend were attacked for being goths- she
