New Project Announcement: TOMEWell people, I think I've teased you all enough, so I'm finally revealed one of the big secret projects I've been cooking up for the past month or so. I've prepared two trailers, one an introduction and one an overview, for a new animation project...New Project Announcement: TOME4 years ago in Personal More Like This
TOME: Terrain of Magical Expertise.
So for those of you who aren't aware of the history behind this, at its core, TOME is a re-branding of the very first big Flash Movie project I ever did on Newgrounds, TvTome Adventures. Back when I was a teenager and really obsessed with "cyberpunk" stuff like Reboot, .hack// and MegaMan Battle Network, I created a series with characters all inspired by friends I'd made on the very first message board I ever posted on. The series, at the time, was using mostly ripped sprites from various video game

My Top Ten Paleontological Stories of 2014I've been thinking about this for a while. So I made one of my own. 2014 has been an impressive year for paleontology. But I think these are the best. This list includes published data AND unpublished data. NOTE: NONE of the images used here belong to me. They belong to their rightful owners. One image is scribbled on by me.My Top Ten Paleontological Stories of 20148 months ago in Personal More Like This
UPDATE: I accidentally included an extra entry even though their should be ten. I chose to remove my least favorite on this list which in this case is Qianzhousaurus. Sorry Qianzhousaurus.
10. Nanuqsaurus-From The North Came The Furry Tyrannosaurs
Disappointed about Raptorex and (probably) Nanotyrannus? No worry! We have another pygmy Tyrannosaurid and this time it ISN'T a juvenile of a known species (or unknown in the case of Raptorex). Nanuqsaurus holds the distinction of being the northern most Tyrannosaurid and for being unusually small. It is also likely that it had feathers due to it's location and smal

The new Utahraptor material seems to be not far from Publishing
Emily Willoughby tried a first roconstruction based on an silhouette of Scott Hartmann, so far it looks fantastic and thanks to an surprising short tail and an, for dromaeosaurs, unique dentition Utahraptor will be a really awesome animal when the paper is out.
But it seems that there is now a new picture of the new Utahraptor.
Julius Csotonyi will publish soon a own Paleoart-book (Yeah, our genre expand) and a preview on WIRED shows some of the most interesting Pictures.
Inter alia there is a wonderful Image of several Utahraptors in different growth stages. The text below suggest something awesome: "This image endeavors to restore some of the events leading to the creation of a large block of highly fossiliferous sandstone (containing Utahraptor over a range of ontogenetic stages and Hippodraco) from the Cretaceous in what is now Utah." http://www.wired.com/2014/04/d

There's something fishy about the new SpinosaurusI'm sorry, I don't have a new Spinosaurus skeletal for you based on the new material. It will probably be a while yet until I do. But I was surprised enough by the proportions to want to check them, and the published lengths of the new neotype specimen don't actually match the reconstruction that was published in the paper. Above is my corrected version - to find out more about how I got there you can hop on over to my blog...and I'll apologize in advance for the wall of text that awaits you. There's something fishy about the new Spinosaurus1 year ago in Personal More Like This

Dear Deviants! I'm posting for you here to let you check out the kickstarter of a certain little project to which I got a little involved. The Stomping Land is an online video game in which players undertake the rol of tribal hunters to hunt and survive in a world of dinosaurs and prehistoric creatures.
Luckily I rushed in them just in time to shout out "WAIT! what if...we use non-cliche dinosaurs?" And the reactions were great!
The devlopers are very open and friendly and hopefully we'll be able to see all types of wonderful yet unfortunaly currently unpopular ancient creatures such as prestosuchids and Azhdarchids as well as some dinosaurs that never make it to popular media, like Stygimoloch and my beloved Austroraptor.
So if you are interested in the game as a project (I honeslty think it's a kickass one), you want to support the popularity of new ancient species in the eyes of new generations, or ju

Best Day EverMy whole life I've had a problem.Best Day Ever3 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've never wanted to be alive. Ever.
There was no point to me, I was going to die one day,
it was inescapable, so why try?
Why not just live?
Why strive towards things, or fall in love, or be happy?
Nobody ever answered this question, until today.
My English teacher has helped me out before, but not like this.
He'd listen when I was upset, or stressed, and tell me about himself.
There was something more.
"Hey, can I talk to you?"
"Sure! What can I do for you?"
"I-I really just wanted, to, kinda, thank you."
"I'm not sure what you mean..."
"For using the one life you have, to help others."
"Oh, well gosh darn. You don't have to thank me for that!"
"Yes I do."
"Well. Alright. Then, thank you. That means a lot.. Really.
I know that life isn't always easy, so, I'm glad to help during that time.
It does mean a lot that you're grateful."
There was something unspoken there, maybe the way he sounded so, happy.
It made me

Science and Religion? One of the greatest philosophical conflicts in our day and age, and perhaps one of the most unreasonable, is the conflict between religion and science. It seems to the underlying theme behind every argument.Science and Religion?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But do they truly conflict? Are science and religion truly at odds with each other?
The following is from Jackson Spielvogel's account on the theology of William of Occam:
"Occam posited a [new] interpretation of nominalism. He asserted that all universals or general concepts were simply names and that only individual objects perceived by the senses were real. Although the mind was capable of perceiving individuals objects, it could not establish any truths about the nature of external, higher reality. Reason could not be used to substantiate spiritual truths. It could not, for example, prove the statement, "God exists." For William of Occam as a Christian believer, this did not mean that God did not exist, however. It simply indicated that truths about religion could only be known

Calling out the so-called 'Red Wolf'Okay guys, we've had our fun calling out the hypocrisy of fanatical wolfaboos and Animal Rights proponents. Now, I think it's time we focus more on Anti-Wolf's educational side. In this case, I'd like to draw your attention to that taxonomical mess that is the red wolf.Calling out the so-called 'Red Wolf'3 years ago in Personal More Like This
You'll have doubtlessly heard numerous differing view points on just what the hell this animal is meant to be: is it a unique canid species, or is it simply a coywolf? Well, it turns out that we've had the answer to that question since last year, but for some reason *cough*, it has not been widely publicised (hmmm...).
It turns out (through undertaking the most in-depth and advanced genetic study so far performed on wolves) that the red wolf is indeed a watered down coywolf (indeed, it's only 20-25% wolf... the coyotes in the East coast can do better than that!)
Seeing as the media and wildlife services have seemingly completely ignored this, and insist on not updating their wolf websites, I think we owe it to our fanba

The daily life of a Wolfaboo. Please read before reading the rest of the text below:The daily life of a Wolfaboo.3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After seeing the amount of wolfaboos on places such as deviantART, YouTube, Facebook etc, I thought it would be interesting to try and reconstruct the life of the average wolfaboo and get an insight to just how arrogant and pathetic these uneducated people are. Another thing to point out is that the text below is written in decent-enough English, and that a wolfaboo would rarely, if ever, type/ write like that, just so you know.
The daily life of a Wolfaboo...
Saturday morning. I woke up and saw it was 11:00am, but I remembered that having the wolf as my inner animal meant I had to stay up late last night and howl at the moon when my mother had gone out. I growled and stretched like a wolf would, because after all, I am a wolf, right? I looked at all my wolf books and stories all over my messy bedroom. I saw my Wolf's Rain DVDs, and I sighed with happiness. It was all true. Wolves really can leap at very high altitude, have a pa
Top 5 reasons why My little Pony is overratedFirst I want to tell all Bronies out their, that I don't hate My little Pony: Friendship is magic. I really think this is a good show for kids, to show and teach them stuff like friendship and loyalty and other educational matters. But this big hype about this show is really going on my nerves. And here I am going to count down my Top 10 reasons why I think MLP is the most overhyped show since Spongebob Squarepants.Top 5 reasons why My little Pony is overrated2 years ago in Personal More Like This
5: The show itself
Before I ever watched one episode of the show, everyone one the internet told me, that MLP is the best cartoon show since decades and that the show is more an adult like cartoon, or at least a kid show, who have a few child friendly adult jokes similar to Animaniacs or Ren and Stimpy. I trusted them and I watched one episode and... well it was not that they have promised me. I watched another one, and it was still more a kid friendly cartoon. The episodes are not bad, I'm pretty sure 5 year old kids will have their fun with it, but for me, it's nothing co
