This skin is now too buggy to use. I do not recommend you install it.

I'll be writing a new version for deviantART v6.x eventually, but these things take up so much time and effort that I'm not that motivated right now.

If someone wants to put forward a donation to motivate me to update the skin now, well, I wouldn't say no to that, but otherwise you'll just have to be patient.

11th June 2008
I've updated the stylesheet over at userstyles.org with the work I've done towards updating the skin. It doesn't address all of the issues, but does fix most of the major ones.

The update only applies to v5 of deviantart, I plan to do a total re-write for v6.

~SGAlteran was cool enough to help me out with a whole bunch of the bug fixes, so much respect for his contributions.

UPDATE: 19th April 2007 - BACK IN BLACK!
major one being that Journal CSS is no longer interfered with by dA5pook! :D

There's a minor bug where some links or headings wont be coloured - it's rare, so don't worry - but if you spot any send me a note with a quick description and I'll fix it

Hopefully `the-faun doesn't mind me using his journal in the preview image :blushes:

TO INSTALL (two steps!)
:star: STEP ONE: Visit dA5pook Black @ userstyles.org and see the section titled 'Install options'. Firefox users will see a button that reads 'Load into Stylish' or 'Update in Stylish' if you've got it installed already. If you don't have Stylish, get it.

Alternatively, if you know what you're doing, you can @import it from http://devart.koopseht.net/skins/black/

If you're a Firefox user still using DeviantSkin to install your skins - disable/uninstall any skins you have, uninstall DeviantSkin and start using Stylish instead. DeviantSkin was awesome when `bluespeed9 first published it, but to compare it to Stylish would be like comparing IE with Firefox.

If you use Opera, you can still install it, though you'll probably need to edit the skin beforehand (to remove the Firefox only @-moz-document bits. I've only tested the skin in Firefox.

If you still use IE - got cry to mommy, you're not ready to use the internet.

:star: STEP TWO: Install the following Greasemonkey script - noCSSForJournals.user.js - it's a helper script that makes sure journals look pretty. If you don't have the Greasemonkey extension installed, click the link and get it.

You could get away with not installing the script, but some journals (those without CSS) might be hard to read or look wrong. So, INSTALL IT! ;p

TO STYLE v4 PAGES (ie. message center)
I have provided a modified version of my old v4 skin so that you can install it in conjunction with the new v5 skin to have those half-baked pages styled black too.

Visit oldblack.css and copy the entire contents of the page. Then click on the Stylish icon in the bottom left of Firefox and select 'Write Style > Blank Style...'. Add a title (ie devart: oldblack) and then paste the contents of the skin into the big text area. Hit save, and you're done :)

Don't use the @import method, as I will never update oldblack.css

TO CHANGE LINK COLOURS
...new instructions to come shortly.

---

If you want to read the back-story, check out my journal - skinning v5. I've also set up a mini site of sorts - [link] - where you can find a few other CSS goodies you can install in Stylish.

I hope you enjoy using it, and if there are any issues, drop me a note and i'll be right on it
