It Seems Many People Gravely Misconstrue FeminismI have encountered many people who seem to think that "feminist" means "hates men."It Seems Many People Gravely Misconstrue Feminism4 years ago in Personal More Like This
It doesn't. Feminism means believing that women are equal to men, and thus should have the same rights. It's not trying to take anything away from men; it's trying to give both genders the same privileges, the natural rights that every human being deserves. Neither men nor women should be owned by or own one another, neither should be above the other in social station just because of their gender.
A lot of self-proclaimed "anti-feminists" seem to be arguing against something completely different: "misandry," the hatred of men (the male counterpart of misogyny). True feminism in no way condones misandry.
EDIT: Holy cow, I did not expect this to elicit so much response! Wow.

They can call silently...a gentle reminder that words need no sound
They can point forcefully...an undeniable understanding that a guilty conscience needs but one accuser
They can hold and grasp and pinch and tap...elicit tears or present comfort... indeed...they have a language of their own...
These wonderful artists have captured the various prisms of life and emotion that fall within our hands ....please show them some love!

2. What does your username mean?
Katy is a name of Scotch origin. 133 is a number that I keep seeing in my life.
3. Describe yourself in three words.
Cute macabre art.
4. Are you left or right handed?
5. What was your first deviation?
I do not speak of that art piece anymore.
The reason why I don't talk about it isn't because I don't like it or because I'm "ashamed" of it, but because of how much attention it seems to ironically get (due to its "so-bad-it's-good" factor) compared to my current work. People also tend to reblog/post it without sourcing me, so I won't even be given credit for this artwork. And since it's not sourced, it's also not dated, and therefor people don't realise that it was f

This week I am totally satisfied to feature one of our members, who is making art in a very special way which isn’t really used our days anymore.
I am proud to present to you RevolverWinds, an artist from the Isle of Man – and for sure, a lefty.
I just had to feature him this time, because from the first moment I saw one of his submissions in our group I enjoyed looking at his surreal collages.
Every piece he is doing is full of surreal symbols, interesting twists and a little bit of madness – but in a good way.
Making a collage I can imagine you need to be very patient, as you need quite some time to find the right pictures in a „right“ perspective angle,
and I can imagine this is really not easy.
When you look at RevolverWinds pictures you see that he is a master in looking for the right angled pieces – all his pictures do not look like
collages at all. They are perfectly cut out and put together, th

Gaga for DadaThis weeks topic: gaga for dadaGaga for Dada3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Learning about art history can foster creativity, give us a better understanding of art, and inspire us to go beyond our limits. Over the next few months, I am going to be periodically publishing articles about different schools and styles from the Modernist period. I hope these articles not only help you gain a better understanding of history but inspire and challenge you. Thank you for reading.
what is dadaism?
Design is History EXPLAINS IT AS:
"Dada was a cultural movement that was concentrated on anti-war politics which then made its way to the art world through art theory, art manifestoes, literature, poetry and eventually graphic design and the visual arts. The movement, although Dadaists would not have been happy calling it a movement, originated in Switzerland and spread across Europe and into the United States, which was a safe haven for many writers during World War I.
An anti-art movement, Dad

DeviantArtist Questionnaire1. How long have you been on Deviantart?DeviantArtist Questionnaire4 months ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Probably about 5 - 8 years via my old account to my new account.
2. What does your username mean?
I like technology, especially when it comes to robots. Part of it is the assumption that Robots and other AI's can have dreams (think AI Artificial Intellegence, and IRobot) So if they have dreams why not nightmares? That's not very deep, but in reality 99% of the reason I chose this name was because it looked cool.
3. Describe yourself in three words.
Fat, anxious, cyborg
4. Are you left or right handed?
Right, but my hand didn't develop correctly so I can't hold my pencil normally. (it really makes me anxious when people in rl point it out but it doesn't bother me to talk about it privately)
5. What was your first Deviation?
Years ago when I first joined it was an MSPaint d
Lacy Plays: Gingiva (GAME LINK)DAMN this is a WEIRD RPG game...But I love it to bits! its one of my favorites.Lacy Plays: Gingiva (GAME LINK)3 months ago in Personal More Like This
Plot?: Two squids in coitus appear like hands clasped lovingly at the palms. An amboeboid landscape threatens to engulf civilization and all its plastic bottles. Disembodied mouths live in the walls of municipal buildings like household pests. Gingiva features five playable characters, over 100 fully animated creature portraits, multiple paths and varied endings.
I guess that classifies as a plot? anyway, this game is really nice to look at, its very colorful and the way it uses old fashioned images to turn it into something that looks completely unique is a wonder within itself. The soundtrack shifts from a edgy industrial
