PE: How to Make a Large EmoticonHow to Make a Large EmoticonPE: How to Make a Large Emoticon2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
I have been asked many times how I make my big emoticons. How I shade it, dither it, etc, so I am going to make a step by step tutorial on how I make large emoticons. Even if you already know how to, you might find something useful in this. Be aware that I am using photoshop elements 3.0, so this technique can be preformed in almost any program that has layers and custom pencil brush sizes and or a hollow and filled circle tool. If your program doesn't have layers or adjustable circles of any kind (whether it be the pencil tool or the circle tool), you should be able to get around it somehow, but if you can't figure it out, I would recommend gimp. It works on Macs, Windows, or Linux computers. You can get a free download at gimp.org.
Start by making a hollow circle. The color of it should be a really dark shade of the color you want the emote to be. I'm making a blue emote, so

Let's get started
Let's see if there's any official FAQ about it:
There's quite some! I recommend you to always read these FAQs before doing anything or visiting :#help: on dAmn
So, let's try out something, shall we?
When you enter your freshly created room you'll notice the following things:
The Title are will be empty
There will be no topic area
You will be placed into 'Guests' by default
You may ask the following; Why am I in the Guests privclass?
It's simple: because the room is in need of setting up and since you've just created it, no one ever joined it before!
You must promote yourself into the highest (Founders is the default privclass for that) group there, so others will know that you're in charge of that room!
How to do that?

In this toolbox you will find helpful tips for digital typography. For those of you new to the topic, let's start with a short explanation
Typography is the art and technique of arranging type in order to make language visible.
Pretty simple, eh? Basically as you are reading this you are "reading typography". What I will refer to in this article is digital artistic typography, though. This is not the everday typography you see on street signs, books or on websites.
It can be anything! Which is amazing and scary at the same time
Here's a little overview of this article:

There are different ways how to get more specific and maybe also better results in the Emoticons tab.
Keep in mind: only the Emotes are shown that are in the Chat friendly Emotes category and smaller than a certain size.
The Emoticons in your Favourites:
I heard that deviants have create a Folder in their Favourites for Chat friendly Emotes to have a quicker access to them, but there are a few problems with that:
Only Premium Members have access to this tab.
You are limited to 5 thumbs in your comment.
But there is another way to find the Chat friendly Emotes that you have in your Favourites!

What were your first artistic influences, and did they have a hand in the development of your resources?
Ah, this one i remember. In college, for my photography A-Level I was researching digital artists and came across Mika (Mary) Borsiss in a photography journal. She did wonderful fantasy manipulations, so I emailed her (not expecting a response) and a lovelier person you couldn't ask for. She explained all about how she creates her art. After that I was hooked on digital. 4 years later I went over to the resources provider dark side because of the frustration of not being able to find certain stock.
Whats one of the most rewarding aspects for you as a resource provi

Modern Elite CSS Contest - Premium Prizes to winHi fellas,Modern Elite CSS Contest - Premium Prizes to win3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
A new contest is in the house! Yes, you have heard me right! A new CSS contest with premium prizes to grab for yourself is here for you!
You and I can see a lot of journal skins present in our DA's Journal & Gallery Skins category till date but we see only a few of them are modern style designs. As, many of you probably know that I mostly like modern design for my journal skins. So, I want you to go crazy with your own creativity and do the same for this contest.
Many of you might wonder, what is modern style web designs anyway? Please mind that I'm using the word "web design" here because journal skins in DA are nothing but web designs that we code in CSS. So coming back, a modern design generally..
1) has few colors
2) contains simple yet elegant images to make the design look smart
3) has all it's elements well arranged
4) has minimalistic touch (not always though)
5) includes high usage of typography

Comment count under thumbnails
I've never been comment-conscious before. I don't care if people "fave bomb" my work, or if they fave it without commenting (with exceptions on tutorials for feedback sake when necessary), but now that they have the comment count plastered under every thumbnail, I'm forced to focus on comments whether I want to or not. Now I see a piece that only has a comment or two and it makes me self conscious, when before I would just post my art and move on. I also feel like it might have an effect on others. For me, when I see that a piece has over 200 comments, I definitely feel less of an urge to comment on it before faving. I figure "everything that I would want to say about this piece has probably already been said, so I'll just fave it instead." Anyone else feel like that? Now that we
