I had the idea for this News article when I recently went through the Tutorial list of Emotication. I normally send deviants to Emotication when they need help to create Emoticons. Now that I went through the list I noticed that many tutorials aren't helpful at all. It is "just" a list with very good but also very bad tutorials.
In the first edition of the help corner I want to share tutorials with you that I find helpful. These don't necessarily reflect my preferences in the emoticon creation process
Let me first tell you something about different shadings. Every Emoticonist has different preferenc

My 3CHiya Ryceballs, today I wanna talk about three amazing artists that has inspired and motivated and kinda shaped who I am as an artist today, all three of them has a Deviantart account so you can check out their stuff if you like. And all three of them so happen to have their name starting with C, how about that huh? So I guess a tip is if you wanna become an amazing artist, change your name to something starting with C. Ry is also fortunate enough to know all three of them over time and likes to think of them as my senpais. My 3C2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Chances are if you are on Deviantart long enough you probably have come across his work already since he's been active on Deviantart for 10 years and he's like a megastar in the art universe. When

There is a lot of it.
2013 is all ready [more than] half over. I don't know where the time has gone, but it's gone. Now, Nichrysalis had this fantastic idea about a "recap" of the significant news and events happening around the literature community and he kindly gave me his blessing to do something with this idea!
However, I know how much goes on during the year and one article might be a bit overwhelming [for me to do and for you to read] so I've decided to split it up into two six month segments. January to June and July to December.
Be prepared. :iconscaroutplz:
If you manage to make it through all of this I will let you ride on a unicorn or give you cupcakes. Or cupcakes while you ride the unicorn.

Alright... the feature is finished. And OMG I got so many comments. So it took me a while to make this feature. I said that I'll feature first 80 thumbs, but because so many of you wanted a feature I decided to post them more. So I featured first 136 thumbs. Unfortunately I couldn't feature more, cuz I get errors when I want to put more thumbs. I hope I'll be able to make this kind of articles more often. And I hope you'll enjoy this feature and give these artists more love If you want you can fav this journal, so that featured artists will get more attention which they deserve. Thank you

Commissions infoOr, mini commissions to be exact (: I'm currently trying to work on having a better portfolio and at the same time, scrap by with what i can. Because after the Digipen incident, i'm left with no full-time job and barely enough income each month. I thought by now i would be in school, but obviously shit happened and i gotta move on. I am still vying for a full-time job but i haven't found one suitable for my pathetic skillsets at the moment. There are options of course, but i'd like to earn some pocket money before i actually head out full-time.Commissions info4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I might open more kinds of commissions like i did before, depending on the response. So thanks for looking! And if you're willing to spread the word i'd be grateful
Little nitty gritties
I'm alright with drawing both:
Payment in Paypal only
I would start the drawing once full payment is received
commissions are for your personal usage only (: No re-selling etc.
New Commissions Portal Coming SoonOur team has been testing an early version of our brand NEW Commissions portal. On the Commissions Portal you can find ALL of the (currently) 26,000 available Commission offers from artists, neatly categorized by Style, Type, Price, Popularity, etc. It's awesome!New Commissions Portal Coming Soon2 years ago in DeviantArt Announcements More Like This
When we launched Commission widgets on Profile pages a few months ago, I personally didn't find them to be very helpful by themselves. Without a directory of available artists for commissions, and what commission options there are from across the whole community -- I couldn't be sure that I was buying the right thing.
The new portal (which will be accessible right from deviantART.com's home page) has added an incredible value to my life since I've been playing with it: The ability to easily commission artists!
Because the commissioning process exists in-line on the Commission area, I was able to facilitate 5 commissions in an initial 2 minutes and 30 second
5 LevelsI've spoken as guest speaker a number of times over the years (come visit me at SCAD Atlanta in January). While I'm not the best or most patient teacher, I think my strength is my pragmatic and blunt approach to the business side of comics. In order to help the students think of a "5 YEAR PLAN" (more on that in an upcoming post), I'll often break down the different page rate levels of comic book artists as a way to help analyze the playing field of our industry. If there's a ladder to success, what's wrong with defining each rung? I imagine such a breakdown helpful for moving up in most any industry, not just comics.5 Levels4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Here are the 5 LEVELS of comic artists as I see them--NOT based on talent but on page rates, popularity, and the prestige of the titles the artist works on. You might define them differently or have more than just 5, but I find that less-is-more when it comes to people being able to retain information.

PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your workHello all!PE Daily Deviations- Presentation of your work3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Well we’ve had a fascinating week so far; a week which hopefully has provided some insight not only to the process of DD selection but helped you understand what we look for in DDs as CVs. As we draw to the end of this week, I bring you an article which will whet your Saturday with thoughts that don’t just apply to the DD feature, but something which should be a consideration to everything you submit to dA. I am talking about deviation presentation.
Why is Presentation important?
Art isn’t always about just being “creative”. There are techniques and skills which develop over time which contribute to the quality of the work you produce and alongside this comes a developed understanding of good presentation.
Good presentation could be anything from cropping a photograph, to spell checking your literature. These are common sense things that in the rush of wanting to show off your creativity can sometimes be

Knowing 3D Game Art A Little BetterKnowing 3D Game ArtKnowing 3D Game Art A Little Better2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Hello and welcome to 3D Game-art week! As you all know I have been featuring different kinds of 3D game development work all month long on every odd day (if i have enough to fill it) and to go along with a series of articles giving the community a little more insight on the sub section of the category.
So let's get started shall we Got some awesome artists who help contributed to this and lots of insight. So definitely give it a read!
What is 3D Game art and how is it different from other 3D work?
3D Game art is specifically 3D art that will be used within an original game, game idea, game portfolio or 3D Game art you did at the studio/team you worked at/with and have permission to post. Even one you hope to make some day, as long as that is specified.
"It's getting much harder these days to tell the difference between 3D models used for games, cinema, or other media
Do you believe? So I was going to make a poll out of this but then I thought why not just do it as a journal anyway?Do you believe?1 year ago in Personal More Like This
Anyway, so here's the question(s):
Do you believe that some people are just born more more skilled, talented, and retentive of art theory -- or -- do you believe any measure of skill and talent is only obtained by consistent learning and development?
Do you believe that some people are just born more more skilled, talented, and retentive of art theory -- Meaning someone who is just naturally more in tune and further developed with artwork skills from a young age, somehow just 'knowing' how to do things despite bit being taught or learning how to do it.
Do you believe any measure of skill and talent is only obtained by consistent learning and development? -- Meaning that while the talent may exist the only possible way to further develop it is through a consistent studying and practicing of methods and techniques; despite failing ne

It's the third day that he is with us. And the first day for me where I feel mentally a bit better and I'm eating properly.
He has really shocked everyone. His mentality, he is doing very well, happy, full of life and is fully responsive! How he was acting, managing and behaving in such that state of health- that was something really incredible. The vets gave him very difficult chances of recovery and worried about brain damage that occured him because the first days after accident (when he was at clinic) he was in very tragic condition with mentality. Despite that he was moving his head like a fine dog, he had absolutely no responses. Pretty much like zombie.
Now, thanks to all love, support and warm response he received from us, family, grandparents visited also and friends that came, spoke, took care and spent time with him he has returned to that kind of mental state like accident never hap

Hello, deviants! In an effort to keep the community informed and to provide the best possible experience for our members, we wanted to inform you of changes to our reporting system.
DeviantART is dedicated to protecting our artists, and in an effort to be able to more quickly handle complaints by deviants who have had their rights infringed on, we have changed the way we receive complaints from the artist or the copyright holder.
In the past, we took reports by the copyright holder in two different ways: An informal report via the Report Violation tool and a formal complaint via contacting the Help Desk. While both of these methods were effective, they presented many setbacks.
The informal report did not gather all the necessary information for a formal copyright complaint and was prone to misuse by well-meaning deviants who would attempt to report images they did not own the copyright to
Being Unscientific with SRSmithWho doesn't love science fiction?Being Unscientific with SRSmith11 months ago in Literature Features More Like This
If you just said "me," keep reading—you'll change your mind by the end of this article. (If you don't, I reserve the right to send a drone to your house. Isn't living in The Future great?!) As you'll see, science fiction goes beyond funny aliens and laser beams that conveniently miss. Some have even argued that, without science fiction, the Internet wouldn't have happened, and then we'd all be...outside right now. Quel horreur!
SRSmith has been a mainstay of the dA literature community for a long time, and he showcases other awesome dA writers on his flash fiction project,365tomorrows.
What is "science fiction"?
In my opinion, Science Fiction is any story that uses present or future science or technology as a key component, or where it provides the required underlying fabric on which the story is built. Future science or technology is speculative by nature, a

Communities rely on Pillars made of HeartCommunities of all kinds are held up by pillars made of heart. Typically embodied by people who let the weight of their community rest on their shoulders, willing to let life be life. Sometimes it hurts, and sometimes it's comfortable. Regardless, the result is a halo that surrounds all participants in a community. The healing light of being mothered, fathered or cared for.Communities rely on Pillars made of Heart1 year ago in Personal More Like This
These are very special people who take this role in your community. Maybe this person is you. In which case, please be you today, and every day. Because you are very important.
For the rest of us, we all know who the pillars are that hold up the communities that we care about. We all know the value of what they do, especially when we stop to think about it.
There is nothing in life that I have ever found a deeper admiration for than people who take on this role. Pillars of Community. When a human being digs their heels in, claims territory and begins to show Love towards a group of people, they begin to embody
