I use a 9x12 Wacom Intuos 3 and a Wacom Cintiq 24 HD. I don't prefer one over the other! If I'm in my studio, I'm on my Cintiq and if I'm on my laptop I'm on my Intuos. It's really just a matter of where I'm doing my work from.
My digital paintings are made with Adobe Photoshop CC. Every so often, I'll start my drafts on paper but it's far more common for me to build my drawings up completely in a digital environment.
How long does it take you to make a drawing?
How long I spend on a drawing really depends on the complexity. For my larger more complicated drawings, it takes anywhere between 6-20 hours. Smaller and more sketchy drawings take around 1-4 hours.
When did you start drawing? How did you learn to draw?
I've been doodling since I was a kid but I didn't get serious about drawing until I was in college. I majored in Studio

1950 - Laposky's Oscilon
Our story begins in 1950 with Benjamin Francis Laposky, a sign painter and army veteran who was also an artist and mathematician. In addition to getting a kick out of creating Magic Square Puzzles, Ben created what is arguably the first set of computer generated images, "electrical compositions" using a cathode ray oscilloscope:

A robot must obey orders given to it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

If you've ever read anything in your life, watched a movie or followed any sci-fi you were influenced by Asimov, even if you didn't know it.
Biochemist. Professor. Historian. Author. Pioneer. Even humorist. Asimov was a very prolific artist writing over 500 books, essays, short histories, scientific articles and even a spoof chemistry article which confused more than one. Asimov wrote 8 hours a day everyday, armed with nothing more than typewriters for most of his life.
Probably the biggest contributions of Isaac Asimov were to the field of sc
Thumbs up from Valve!!! Portal short is a go!Wow, how did I forget to post here, where all the publicity started, that last week Valve gave my Portal-based animated short film the thumbs-up!Thumbs up from Valve!!! Portal short is a go!3 years ago in Personal More Like This
After a whole lot of effort, Claire Hayes (producer) managed to get on the phone with Valve's head of legal, and not only do we now have their express approval to make the film, AND to raise money for the production (!!!), but we even got praise for what we've done so far!
I love the smell of victory in the morning. It smells like napalm.

Morrowind FeatureMorrowind Feature4 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Elder Scrolls III Morrowind is my favourite game of all time, and it will always hold a special place in my heart. I've been planning for awhile to put together a game-inspired feature; unfortunately, it is very hard to find genuine fan art since most Morrowind-related deviations on dA are game screenshots (or manipulations thereof), and I found only a limited number of devs I could use.
For those unfamiliar with the game, Morrowind is an open-ended first-person RPG with an expansive and detailed world, released in 2002. The central plot concerns the deity Dagoth Ur, housed within the volcanic Red Mountain, who seeks to gain power and break Morrowind free from Imperial reign. In addition to the extensive main quest, there are detailed discursive quests for a variety of factions, including various guilds, religious organizations, and aristocratic houses.
Lord Voryn Dagoth had been a good friend of Lord Indoril Nerevar, but they tu

Tutorial Treasury 04In the Tutorial Treasury, you will find tutorials geared towards Photomanipulators and some that will deal with a broader subjects, such as lighting, colour etc. The tutorials will be from dA as well as from all over the web and in each episode, there will be 3 to 6 tutorials for your reading pleasure (any more than that I guess no one will have time to read anyway). If you find any good ones, shoot me a note so I can include them in the next installment!Tutorial Treasury 044 years ago in Art Features More Like This

Street and the CityEXTREME STREET PHOTOGRAPHY - IIStreet and the City2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Are there places were street photography is impossible? Are there countries easier than others, or harder than others? How is it street shooting like in exotic places, or places you never visited, places that are completely different from what you are used to? I asked a few street photographers around the world to share with us their experiences.

Ready for the Rainbow Bridge?Why... Just why....?Ready for the Rainbow Bridge?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
A few past days, I've been dealing with quite traumatic moments with our family dog- battling for his life.
That family dog, named Dingo, is a very special dog for us- that no other dog in whole universe can replace him for us, in meaning of loving another dog in a very special way how we did to him. (Just to be clear, we have only two dogs: Arnaq as my own dog and Dingo as family dog.) I really regret that I never spoke much about him there but only Arnaq was center of attention.
He is our very first dog. We adopted him as a 5 month puppy when I was... 11 years old! I was a mere child and my brother was 9. I was raised with him for entire childhood until adulthood that where I am right now. All animals that are/were with us are treated with the best love and care from us. All are/were important, but Dingo was more than just a pet as family member. More than who Arnaq is for me. He was a big bro fo

Is Your Skin Too Thin?A lot of writers on this site fantasize about having a book published someday. But even if you don't, pretty much everyone still posts for an audience, even going so far as to hope for honest feedback. Is Your Skin Too Thin?3 years ago in Literature Features More Like This
Hell, who doesn't like improving?
If you are honestly truly really, after much introspection, writing only for yourself and not particularly interested in critical feedback, I would skip this. There's no point.
Here's the thing: improving depends on having some thick skin. How do you know if you're there? Read on below.
Please imagine these comments directed at you, most likely in an email (though hopefully not the same email), about your favorite and most polished work ever, the one that you'd like to see on the front page of the New Yorker or with a prologue by Neil Gaiman or something. IDK man. Poets, fill in whatever you need here.

About Orohn*UPDATED PeopleAbout Orohn4 years ago in Personal More Like This
This is information about the Orohn Region. I think it would be great to develop a game from this but i don't have the time. If I did make a game, they would probably be called Pokémon Inferno and Pokémon Hurricane. Or just one version and call it Pokémon Z (for Zerudez, my disaster trio master).
This is a work in progress and will gradually be updated through time.
The Orohn Region is a huge island located in the northern seas, just above the equator. I based the region on several of my favorite places that I would love to visit one day - Japan, London, Spain, California, Texas, and I also based some parts on Hawaii, which is beautiful and where I live. Orohn is very distant from the other Regions. The region has a dorment volcano located at the northern east of the region.

Movies featuring the latest in high tech digital effects, eye-popping CGI environments and ear-splitting surround sound, are often described as “pushing the envelope.” But they’re mega-million-dollar productions that are delivered back to the studios by the filmmakers precisely as pre-ordered. Rarely is there danger of disaster, so what envelope has been pushed?
“Envelope-shredder” might be a better designation for Brian Taylor...
Who, usually in collaboration with partner-in-mayhem Mark Neveldine, has given the world such films as Crank, Crank: High Voltage, Gamer, Pathology, and recently Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance.

Have you ever wanted to hack Brawl, but didn't want to hack your Wii for whatever reason? Or simply found installing Homebrew to be too complicated/too much of a hassle? Via the Smash Stack method, it's possible to use a simple exploit in the Stage Builder to temporarily hack Brawl until you turn off the game. Here's a step by step to successfully install Smash Stack on your SD card, and have everything ready to hack standard Brawl.
Note that you will need a SD card that's no larger than 2 GB (a SD card larger than this will not work). Also note that SDHC cards will not work.
Step 1: Remove all custom stages from your Wii, as well as from the SD card you plan to use. If you don't want to lose your custom stages, move them to another SD card, or if you don't have one, back them up on your computer. Custom stages must be en

The fact that Kyurem is starring in this shouldn't be surprising. Since the second generation all third version mascots have starred in the second movie of their generation.
Also, some think it may take place in London.. Why do I find that amusing?
I'm like...wtf and meh and excited all at the same time. :3
Like seriously, despite my favourite Unova Pokemon starring in this, I don't have any hopes for it to be good. <3
Five legendaries. FIVE FUCKING LEGENDARIES. o_O
Pokemon 2000 only had four. And three of them where all "Ima firin mah lazor!!!".
Kyurem didn't need to be in this..seriously. Who the hell is Meloetta going to co-star with? Genesect? But..it's always one event legendary per year. >_>
The Kami trio is having their debut in the anime. So they won't star in one of the movies. Why have them in the anime BEFORE a movie? Makes no sense from an advertisement stand point.

The soft mount fad and taxidermy have been taking off like a rocket in the past year or two and what I keep seeing is children thinking they can mimic what took some folks years to do in just a matter of days. Expensive, rare, and stunning hides and pelts are being turned into jokes. Licensed taxidermists state for a reason to practice upon small animals (mice, squirrels, etc.) for a while long before starting with a predator as it takes a lot of practice to do it right.
Now I'm seeing "how to make a cheap soft mount!" stuff popping up everywhere. "Cheap" should never be affiliated with "Taxidermy" as if it's not done properly, with the tools, materials, and chemicals specifically designed for the job, it's not done right. Yes I can see carving and modifying an existing base as many have to do that... but subbing in hot glue for hide paste or stuffed animal eyes n for glass taxidermy
