God Exists Because I Say SoEvery time I get into a theological debate, the pro-God side says something to this effect: God only exists if you want Her to.
This argument is nothing. Sorry, it's not nothing; it's just pointing out the obvious.
Of course you will believe in something if you want to. It's simply a matter of prioritization. Say you don't want to be alone, more than you want to live in an enlightened state. You will create a God, who you can always talk to and thus never be alone, to avoid this loneliness. However, not everyone is willing to give in that easily.
The mistake that so many of the pro-God make is the assumption that the anti-God somehow does not want God to exist. Yes, I know, that's very contradictory wording.
In some cases, yes, this is very true. I still haven't found a religion that proposes a wholly good God, and so I would not want any of their models to exist. I'm not going to force myself to believe in the Invisible Pink Jesus, or the Fallen Spaghetti Angel.
Still, let's just say
Offended? It seems that, every time I open my mouth, some overemoting pussy gets offended. Usually, this is without reason it was not directed at them, but at a friend, or was specifically aimed at a belief they agreed with. These impersonal statements are sent through the Internet, of course- have you people no shame? The Internet is only as serious as you make it, and if a teeny, weeny insult brings a tear to your eye, you're hanging yourself up for the trolls.Offended?5 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Learn to be less butthurt, and apply your education. There is not a line that I cross with my beliefs or the way I present them. If you are offended, it's on you.
Your god is fair game. Your sexuality is fair game. Your family, if you so choose to bring them up, is fair game. The insults you use, if you so choose to use them, is fair game.
Everything you say, and everything you do, are completely open to everyone you speak to. If you do not like how the person reacts, then you might have just been hit by what I like t
Emo And SceneIf I had a dollar for every time some emo/scene kid told me to stop bothering him for being a whining ass-faggot, I'd have enough money to make Bill Gates my personal adult entertainer.Emo And Scene5 years ago in Editorial More Like This
Dear Reader, you are probably confused, so allow me to explain. Emo/scene, which are really the same thing under different names, is a sort of social movement and cliché. They wear darker clothing, frequent Hot Topic, and can't tell a gay boy from their reflection. They claim to have real problems, are depressed, or at least repress their positive emotions, and cannot fucking stand being bothered for their own faggotry. A regular complaint with them is BAWWW! Nobody loves me, so I'm going to drown you all out with the $1000 entertainment system my parents, that don't care about me, got me!
Of course, the emo crowd is one of my favorite targets. Like all teenage cliche's, they are annoying and horribly superficial. Also like all other cliche's, they ad

New York City is extremely cold in the winter, and that was something she currently despised; that, or her leaving a jacket back at her apartment. She had thought, oh, what the hell; well be in a limo or Carnegie almost the entire time. The result was startling; her mind kept flashing back to that same leather jacket, slung over the couch, simply mocking her. Of course, wearing a low-coat dress did little to help the situation.
James held out his hand to her in what he undoubtedly considered to be a gentlemanly expression. Suppressing a disdainful glare, she accepted the offer, and felt herself being tugged out of the limo, as if by a divine force. The limousine driver, a middle-aged African American man, nodded curtly to her while James grinned, cheeks flushed from the cold. Meanwhile, she looked downwards a bit to hide her feelings regarding the date.

Americunts, I Am Your KingI fucking hate Americuntry. We started off well, it seems. This country began with the vision for freedom; oh, sure, that was a biased form of freedom, but since then, we've expanded on those freedoms. We can have guns; we can't have guns; no one can take our religion from us. We are here to be free, and to enjoy it. So, I ask only this: why are people using their freedom so poorly?Americunts, I Am Your King5 years ago in Editorial More Like This
We exist to fit into others standards. We slave away for a mediocre existence, of mediocre quality, with less-than-mediocre work, and complain about it all our lives. We try to be something we're not, just for attention and superficial delusions of love. The men act like sex addicts, but condemn it the moment they walk into church on Sundays. No, women, you're not fucking special; you dress in flashy clothing, coat yourselves in more make-up than clothing, and always complain us men are 'perverts'. We claim our laws are unbiased and logic, but then use them to fight for the Ten
deviantART Popularity Contest Amongst the retards- sorry, deviants- there seems to be a growing rift. The issue is a simple one: Should deviantART be a popularity contest? For starters, popularity has just become a massive buzz word. What the bloody fuck is it supposed to MEAN? Lots of pageviews? Lots of favorites? Lots of watchers? Or, how about the way I see it- a lot of people who read/see what you produce, and happen to like it?
It's a fucking public website where you post art, in the hopes that people will see it. How can you NOT want popularity? Oh, the art matters, not the numbers! Well, where do you think the numbers come from? What About Darfur? Two years ago, all of the conflicts in Darfur mattered. The news couldn't shut up about it, teachers were trying to inform us about it, there was political action that wasn't being taken, and there were protests on what people viewed as being a subject no one cared enough about to fix. Now look at where we are. When was the last time you heard a self-proclaimed humanist talking about how they want to stop the Janjaweed? I can't remember; not in awhile, really. You'd think, with the increased certainty that troops will be withdrawn from the Middle East, people would be suggesting we go into Africa and kick ass, Americunty style. I can see why we wouldn't, but has anyone made any suggestions for it? Nope. Nothing. It's fucking silent. The Phantom of Faith Charles Darwin, many years ago, and with great ridicule, suggested the evolution and metamorphosis of life. He believed that, through years of trial and error, all life forms, from humans to insects, and from plants to fungi, changed and mutated in order to survive and reproduce more beings like themselves. Any organism whose hereditary traits did not adapt to that species' specific environment, did not survive, and thus no longer exists. In one way or another, all aspects of life undergo this process of elimination, -this system of thinning the herd. Even an inadvertent eye can identify this speciation of culture throughout the course of human development. For instance, the dawn of the gasoline-fed motorcar brought forth the demise of the horse-drawn carriage, and the emergence of television retained and tamed the former rampancy of radio. Mile high sky scrapers drowned out the family farm, as thousands of disposable napkinsThe Phantom of Faith5 years ago in Academic Essays More Like This

Their entire problem is that Obama isn't strictly against abortion. They feel that, because Notre Dame has Catholic roots, he should be banned from campus, or some stupid shit like that.
This sort of binary ideological war is exactly why Americans can never agree on anything. The moment someone says something that doesn't match your personal morality, this other person is automatically branded a heretic, and so annoying more that they say should be ignored.
But the very job of the president is to maintain America, so that freedom can be had for its citizens. This means that someone would have a choice to get an abortion- it isn't the president's job to declare that abortion is wrong, and it is instead his job to make sure we don't get invaded by Commies.

Dear Reader, I'm certain you've encountered at least one argument on the subject. It can be summed up like this...
Optimist: You're too depressing!
Pessimist: You're too naive!
Both: I GUESS WE'RE NOT FRIENDS ANYMORE!
So, I made that last bit up, but the first two statements describe all the ignorance present in a similar situation. Very seldom will someone consider freedom from this bideal. [Now, that word's a zinger! Bidea! Bi- for two, -ideal for concept... Bipartisan bullshit!] Similarly, looking at these opposing absolutes from the outside is never considered. At this point, I wouldn't even venture far enough to say that people truly understand the other half of the bideal.
It should be incredibly simple: Both are wrong.

When I look at you
The world seems to slow
How your lips move the certain way they do
How your eyes glisten the certain way they do
Apart from the rest and yourself you have always been
Never one to conform to the popular trend
And that is what I oh so love about you
How you aren't afraid to be you
How you don't care what anyone else thinks
Because in the end, what matters is what YOU think
And that makes me think worlds of you
You, this person of immense inspiration
A person who makes me feel like I can do anything
But you aren't a super hero
You are you, and I would ask for you no other way
For, were you any different, you wouldn't be you
And you without being you is no good
For in my eyes, there is only you
And without you, there is no me.

The Existence of EvilIn this point in time, in our world, there are hundreds and perhaps thousands of movies portraying the classic good versus evil struggle. But as I ponder on it, I start to wonder, is evil even real? Or is it a man-made concept? The Existence of Evil5 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Let us look at a few points. We basically look at these things as evil: Murder, lying, rape, theft, and dishonesty.
If you narrow it down even more, it comes down to Murder and Dishonesty, because rape is a kind of theft (taking without consent) and theft and lying are kinds of dishonesty. But if you look at it even more abstractly, you see that we all do bad things. To kill someone is, according to society, a very bad thing. But our governments create wars and our corporations fund them. So, killing is bad...but killing people in another country is justifiable? That, in itself, is a form of dishonesty. You are not being true to yourself if you try to justify killing someone for your country if you believe that killing is bad in the first place.
