Site Update: Uplifting the Profile TabsIn our continuous effort to improve the deviantART experience, we're publishing weekly Site Updates to keep members informed and to gather feedback. Uplifting the Profile Tabs (Beta Testers)
As part of an initiative to make deviantART more user-friendly and clearer to new users, tabs on the Profile Page have received a visual and functional uplift! The tabs on Profile Pages (Gallery, Prints, Favourites, and Journal) have been visually improved for consistency, cleanliness, and a more modern appearance. Navigation elements have been moved to the left column of the page, and the placement of major elements of each tab have been aligned so that the transition from one tab of one's Profile to anot
The Secret Club(s) of the EliteImagine that there was a a secret club where the financial elite, the top politicians, the media moguls, the intelligences, the royalties of the world come together in secret meetings at one occasion a year. Then you have the Bilderberg Group. Since 1954 on Hotel Bilderberg in Oosterbeek in Netherlands, they use to have an annual meeting some days in the beginning of June. Despite from the local papers on the places where they meet, they are mostly totally unreported by the mainstream media, so don't sweat if you never heard about them. In the EU parliament, Gerard Batten put a question about them. You can see and listen to him below (about 1 minute),The Secret Club(s) of the Elite3 years ago in Personal More Like This

The "them" and "us" mentality and how it negatively impacts us all
Its one of those things that unerringly pops its head up month on month, and its something that is frustrating, often hurtful and hard to read about. Let me explain some of my thoughts.. (warning I have a lot of thoughts I want to put down)
1. a person who voluntarily offers himself or herself for a service or undertaking.
2. a person who performs a service willingly and without pay.
We all say that when we see another user on the site with a volunteers title or a staff symbol, or whatever it is that marks them out as "different" something fundamental changes in our attitude.
Perhaps its envy, or jealousy or hate. Perhaps its simply respect and admiration and pride.
I would honestly LOVE it if it was the second set of emotions but I'm not going delude myself
Tip of the Day: Doubters and HatersBefore you start off your career (or perhaps you just started your career) there tends to be more doubters and haters around you.Tip of the Day: Doubters and Haters3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Most doubters and haters lurk at the bottom because they're too fearful or ignorant to try.
Sometimes many of our biggest doubters aren't bottom lurkers but our relatives or friends. Most of the time they mean well but they are not YOU. They don't know what you are capable of.
For many people, you are your worst hater and doubter. The only way you can find what you're capable of is by trying your absolute hardest. True failure comes from not trying!
Sending positive vibes to you all!

"I suppose I have a really loose interpretation of "work"
because I think that just being alive is so much work
at something you don't always want to do.
Being born is like being kidnapped. And then sold into slavery.
People are working every minute. The machinery is always going.
Even when you sleep."

Interesting Mandelbulb 3D Image NewsInteresting email ~Interesting Mandelbulb 3D Image News2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I received an interesting email this morning. Someone contacted me through my Fine Art America site requesting that I make a print available. I forgot to ask how she found the image, as I hadn't even posted it there yet. Anyway, it turns out this person is the daughter of Karl Menger, who's most famous popular contribution to mathematics (according to WikipediA), was the Menger sponge, a three-dimensional version of Sierpinski's carpet. The Menger3 formula (and other forms of it) certainly seem to be some of the most widely used and popular formulas for many that use Mandelbulb 3D.
The image she was interested in was one I recently posted here at DA, Wreck Of The Menger. Eve pointed me to a very interesting video that explains the Menger sponge quite well,

Just when my day was all muggy, grimy, gray, drizzling in rain, teeming with early morning to afternoon summer school, I come home and all is boring but the second I enter the kingdom on the internet I was greeted with such kind and sweetilicious birthday wishes from so many of you darlings, on the internet, through the power of chatting, and even through texts. In all honesty, you guys MADE my birthday fun. Not gonna be a skeedle and lie maliciously, but I shall say that I was extremely depressed that day; got scared of time, felt like the soul was sucked right out of my system, it was less than a merry day. But coming here and all of y'all showing yourselves, both here and on tumblr, talking to specific Susaniciously awesome folks on the phone, chatting with mad rosy loves of epicness that night, I was just about corrupted by th

While searching DeviantArt for images for the Earth Day article, I became intrigued with how trees have become not only such a central focus of our current environmental concerns, but also how they play such a central role in our art, whether as background or actual subject matter. There are so many Enchanted Forests on DeviantArt that it made me wonder if trees, so mundane and taken for granted yet at the same time so vital to life on earth and so steeped in myth, have always been the revered subjects of the world’s artists.
Pay the PayPal FeesHave you seen someone take commissions with the following in their terms: you must pay the PayPal fee (calculate it at a site like http://www.ppcalc.com)?Pay the PayPal Fees3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Every time I run across someone with those terms, I tell them this is against PayPal's terms of service. Some respond 'oh, okay' and remove it, others argue with me and say it's not against their terms. One person has said they will refuse to work on the commission unless I do pay the fees.
I contacted PayPal directly regarding this to get final word on whether this is a violation or not.
Here is my question:
When I am shopping online, I often see people have a rule that if you pay with PayPal, you have to calculate the "paypal fee" and add that on top of the price of the product or service. Some people will refuse to ship or work if they do not receive the "full amount" (without the paypal fee added in).
Is it against the paypal terms of service for these people to do this? What should I tell them
Username changing and you!I recently posted a forum thread here about people's thoughts on username change. I find that a lot of them would like it, but know that deviantART has openly stated that they will not transfer anyone's content over.Username changing and you!3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Relatively recently, Xehara, a deviant who wants to change her username posted a deviantART Suggestion here which got a Daily Deviation. I was a suggester, which shows that I am in full support of this idea.
On this Suggestion, I commented the following:
"I like this suggestion, but I know that dA's thing is that they don't want to confuse people by having people's profile links broken. So, I was thinking that instead of putting your old username back open for anyone to get, you pay the fee to have it disabled and whenever someone goes to that link, it redirects to your new page (like with Skittleboi redirecting to Josh)!"

One day, humon was surfing the internet.
She was just looking at her favorite pages when all of a sudden a new tab opened up.
She was confused, since she didn't click on any link whatsoever. The tab didn't show anything, just a white screen. When she tried to close the tab, nothing happened. She kept pressing the X to close it, but instead the tab turned to full size. Suddenly, the white screen of the tab turned completely black.
It wasn't only the tab screen that turned black, all the button and everything else on her screen did the same.
Even her mouse disappeared off the screen.
After a little while, she decided to turn her computer off because she simply thought it was broken.
This was a fatal mistake.
Out of nowhere, a full screen picture of :iconcaptainfanclub: appeared on the black screen.
It was most unexpected.
