Freely EnslavedYou poison your mindFreely Enslaved4 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
With beliefs, divine
A part of your life
now left behind
You've no common sense
You weave a defense
Of some plan which was made
Without your consent
You justify how you behave
And choose to be, freely, enslaved
Check the cons
Break the bonds
Free yourself
Don't become their pawns
Escape from the hold
Say you won't be sold
No more messed up stories
From the days of old
Maybe it's time to misbehave
Show them you won't be freely enslaved

Think. Don't Know.Certainty is a plague. Avoid it at all costs. Don't be certain, ever; think, don't know. Crusaders were certain their actions were right; the radical terrorists are certain they were doing good; many criminals are certain they won't get caught. They knew, but didn't think. Think. Ask why. Ask how.Think. Don't Know.4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
Don't ever just accept something, follow the evidence. Don't just accept there is evidence, study it, experience it firsthand, if possible. Think. Society stabilizes through doubt, not certainty, knowing leads to not trying, not learning. Knowing isn't really knowing, it's a combination of faith and apathy. Thinking is security, a blend of skeptic

Don't Save MeAs an atheist, I see things all the time, telling me about this god or that god, religion fueled attacks, racist cults, harassment at military funerals, and bigotry. Some call me hopeless, immoral, an infidel, an antichrist, the devil, blind, and countless other derogatory names. I'm told I'll burn in hell, that good deeds alone won't get me into paradise, and if I don't repent for my blasphemy, I am doomed to suffer. As a religious person (hypothetically) you see a moral obligation to convert me before it's too late.Don't Save Me4 years ago in Philosophical More Like This
People ask me how I can be moral if there is no god? My reply: love; empathy; individuals of all cultures, but their words, n

We can travel to other giant rocks
We can lose ten trillion dollars
We can kill a million people with one well-placed bomb
We can knock down towers with planes, killing thousands
We can fight a hundred wars
We can make fifty religions
We can sustain birth of sextuplet
We can deny science
We can blame science for ignorance
We can sell out arenas for fighting matches
That is all easy, what's really tough, what we can't seem to do, is get along.

A Thank You To Civil Rights SUPPORTERSI have noticed something as I have been sociopolitical over the past few years. I will focus for this case on LGBT+ protesting, because it's the clearest and easiest example. There are two types of supporters, LGBT+ members themselves, and nonLGBT+ SUPPORTERS. That is, people who identify as straight and identify their sex and gender essentially the same. These people are VERY important to a cause like LGBT+ rights. They have a crucial job in making the voice spread. I think it's something like 10% of people identify as LGBT+. That makes nonLGBT+ voices very important in building steam.A Thank You To Civil Rights SUPPORTERS10 months ago in Editorial More Like This

The S WordTheres a reason sin and crime dont mean the same thing. Sinning is not wrong, some sin is natural and good (but not all thats natural is good, hence dome crimes.) Homosexuality, a sin in your typical religion, happens outside the human species, hurts no one, and does good for those who prefer it; its not a crime because that would be stupid. Doubt, a keystone sin in any worthwhile religion, is not a crime because that would be dangerous; believe everything authorities say and see how far that gets you. Wealth, viewed as a sin by a share of religions, is not a crime because of the nonsense of such a ridiculous claim. InThe S Word4 years ago in Editorial More Like This

The religious are not evil.
Atheists have killed, stolen, in fact, committed all the same crimes as the religious.
I wouldnt say otherwise.
Theres one difference:
Atheists dont kill in the name of no god.
Atheists dont steal in the name of no god.
They dont use their lack of religion to restrict rights.
They dont try and halt science to keep their lack of dogma intact.
The individuals, alone, act out of lacking self control.
Those individuals, alone, are responsible.
Those individuals are bad.

Health Care in the USAdmittedly this is more of a rant than an essay but here we go anyway. And really if you dont live in the US then it doesnt really apply to you so no real reason to read this. Also I fully understand that my proposal is one of those idealized cases that though it would likely work it would never be done for one reason or another.Health Care in the US4 years ago in Academic Essays More Like This
But one of the things that has been going around again in the politics (or more specifically Obamas address to congress) is the idea of universal health care. Now Obamas actual plan probably only goes so far as to dump a bunch of money into it and say Give us it, somehow. Now hone

The Phantom of Faith Charles Darwin, many years ago, and with great ridicule, suggested the evolution and metamorphosis of life. He believed that, through years of trial and error, all life forms, from humans to insects, and from plants to fungi, changed and mutated in order to survive and reproduce more beings like themselves. Any organism whose hereditary traits did not adapt to that species' specific environment, did not survive, and thus no longer exists. In one way or another, all aspects of life undergo this process of elimination, -this system of thinning the herd. Even an inadvertent eye can identify this speciation of culture throughout the couThe Phantom of Faith4 years ago in Academic Essays More Like This

The F WordsIt takes faith to be a religion. Its a religion, not a relationship. Faith and fear guide religion. Follow or suffer. Theres no evidence, but its true! If you think contrary you will be condemned. Faith or fire. The F Words4 years ago in Editorial More Like This
Science does not take faith. Faith is anti-science. Faith demands submission without question. Science questions, always. Science is skepticism on steroids, it not only doesnt believe anything in its entirety, it constantly tries to disprove conjectures. Faith causes the fall of science.
Atheism, sans gnostics, requires no faith. Disbelief is not belief to the contrary. Demanding proof, or simply not caring,
