Trapped - Ch 3 - A Firefly FicJayne had finally taken a seat near the door, still twitchy but having decided that pacing wasn't worth it if it got Crazy all riled up. Occasionally he glanced over at her. She was always staring at him with that unnervingly steady gaze. He found himself annoyed that he kept looking over, but he could feel her eyes on him and it made him nervous.
"Wouldja stop lookin' at me like that?" he growled finally.
"Like what?" River said, innocent as a child.
"Like you're readin' my mind," Jayne muttered, and River laughed.
"What should I look at you like?"
"Shouldn't look at me at all," Jayne replied gruffly.
"I like to look at you," River said, and slid of her hammock, walking that dancer's walk to crouch next to him. "You get uncomfortable." She cocked her head, grinning, and reached out a hand to touch his arm.
He flinched, and immediately felt weaker for it. To prove he wasn't shy of her touch, he reached out and grabbed her wrists, both of them in one hand. They were so thin that he was
Trapped - Ch 4 - A Firefly FicA number of thoughts ran through Jayne's head, which rarely happened to him. The first was Hell, if I kiss her, she'll lose. The one immediately following was Hey, I think she wants me to kiss her! Then came Wait a second this is River. Crazy girl who gored me with a knife. There were a few other thoughts, too, that weren't quite so savory.Trapped - Ch 4 - A Firefly Fic6 years ago in Fan Fiction More Like This
His eyes flicked up to meet River's again and his mind went blank. Her big brown eyes that he'd thought so childish before were strikingly adult, long, dark lashes sweeping over them like a veil. Jayne realized that he'd never really looked into a woman's eyes like this before. Girl. Not a woman, a girl, one part of him argued. But another part of him that Jayne tended to pay more attention to was insisting that she was, indeed, a woman. And if she wanted him to kiss her, who was he to turn her down? I mean, he could do the girl a favor. Couldn't he?
Inexplicably nervous now, Jayne tried to recall her exact wording t

"Jayne," Kaylee interrupted, not moving her eyes from the engine in front of her, one hand busily working a wrench.
"Yeah?" Jayne said. His hands were hovering near his hip holsters, as though he suspected something would jump out and shoot at them. It was a nervous habit, and Kaylee knew it.
"Shut up," Kaylee said kindly.
With a huff, Jayne turned around and started pacing. He glanced out the engine room doors and then turned back toward the girls.
"C'mon, Kaylee, can't I just lock you two in here for safekeepin' and go out and help 'em? Vera's itching for some action."
"You heard the Cap'n, Jayne, he wanted you to stay here. Anyway, we need your strong, manly protection." River's mouth twitched into a half smile at this little jab, but Jayne seemed to think Kaylee was bein

River was perched on the edge of Kaylee's hammock in the engine room. Jayne was pacing, which was difficult because the engine room wasn't exactly spacious, and Jayne was, as usual, heavily armed. His chest was bare and streaked with blood.
"Each hand contains twenty six bones," River said, gazing at her own hand, smudged with engine grease. "The scaphoid, the lunate, the triquetrum, the pisiform, the trapezium, the hamate, the capitate "
"Will you shut that crazy mouth?" Jayne said sharply. River shut her mouth with a snap and glared at him.
"You're ruining the fun," she said, and stuck out her tongue.
"You're ruining the thinking," Jayne said, grasping for an intelligent reply and coming up short. Jayne actually was thinkingor trying to. In most situations, he could just shoot first and ask questions later. When he needed brains, Mal was there to tell him who to shoot, and when. Jayne was never the mastermind. But what was he going to

Jayne stood on the catwalk, trying and not suceeding to ignore what was going on below. He'd never seen Moony dance, and he'd never heard the feng le music she was dancing to either. The happy woman whirling around the cargo bay was nothing like the crazy girl he held at night.
That first night, he'd fallen asleep with a warm lapful of Moony and woke up with a crick in his neck. He would've chalked it up to a bad dream, 'cept for the strands of long, dark hair and the scent of honeysuckle on his blankets.
He didn't know why he let her stay the second night. It just seemed easier than worryin' on what kinda trouble she might get into if he kicked her out.

American Internet Censorship Bill Part 2Yesterday I posted a journal about my thoughts on the American Internet Censorship Bill that was being voted on by the House of Representatives. Within minutes of me posting I found out that the bill was defeated by a majority vote (though a very close one). So for now our precious internet is free once again, but it also raises an entirely different discussion...American Internet Censorship Bill Part 23 years ago in Personal More Like This
A lot of the comments I saw on the various websites I went to dealt with upholding the true definition of "freedom" on the internet. It was quite apparent that a lot of people who were upset at the idea of internet censorship were more or less concerned that they might have to be held responsible for their bad behavior online.
See, we all participate in illegal activity online. If you've ever downloaded a movie, or used a torrent, or uploaded images that weren't your own, or played an emulated NES game, or even uploaded video clips from a TV show to YouTube... you're technically participating in illegal activity.

The girl you loved isn’t that person anymore.
Is everything what you thought it would be?
You need to understand that she’ll never be the same again.
Are you happy with yourself?
You only love her because you remember what she used to be.
Why not IchiHime? This is NOT a rant about why IchiHime sucks because I like Ichi____ or Ori____ better. This is exclusively for about my reasons why I don't think IchiHime will happen, or why it would be bad if it did.Why not IchiHime?3 years ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
Why not IchiHime?
There's a lot of reasons why I just can't ship IchiHime, in spite of Orihime's obvious "love" for Ichigo.
***The BIGGEST reason I doubt IchiHime will ever happen is because Kubo himself seems too chickenshit to have Ichigo get together with ANYONE. He doesn't want to piss anyone off by having Ichigo choose between Orihime and Rukia, even though if he had to, I'm certain he would choose Rukia because their bond is so much deeper than his bond with Orihime.***
Chances are, if it EVER comes up, Kubo will do like the writers of Macross Frontier did with Alto by having Ichigo say something stupid like "You're both my wings" and have both girls be totally okay with that for some reason. And then have a movie where Alto gets toge

Its a widely known fact that bad things happen to everyone, but a less accepted reality is that the worst kinds of things always seem to happen to those who least deserve them.
The following event (which bears much relevance to the aforementioned law) will not be told entirely from my perspective, because I wasnt there for all it.
This is just one of those things on the need-to-know basis about us Sorry if it bothers you.
Iggy mounted the stairs and trudged down the corridor, trying to remember just what it was he needed from his room. A pen? That would seem to fit, as Xeeva had wanted one for the daily crossword. But werent there pens downstairs? He paused at the door to think, his eyes not seeing the obnoxious hand-written signs tacked to the wood because hed grown accustomed to having them there.

This is it. Roland brought the car slowly to a stop in a garishly lit car park. After the soothing darkness of the highway, the hard light made my eyes ache. I was sure that my bodys disagreement with the new environment was a sign but when I looked out the window the type of buildings I saw were not unfamiliar. Their brick walls were not swathed in the pale concrete of the City, and there was dirt on the pathways, a little grime on the window panes.
Having wanted to remain safe in the car forever, Id found that the trip seemed spitefully short, but judging by the view perhaps it actually had been.
Where are we? I asked quietly.
Just off the Fringes via the Silve, Roland said as he killed the engine. They call this area petit Enoir. A lot of migrants from Aunice live here, they moved over just before the State turned back to agriculture, but I wont bore you with that sob story, He fin
Missing the PointI've been noticing a trend lately where people seem to deliberately be missing the point behind stuff in order to complain. I used to think it was just me, as I watched people write up lengthy articles nitpicking and "debunking" a comic I made because they simply missed the point, but I've started seeing it happening to other people too.Missing the Point3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Recently over on The Oatmeal, artist Matthew Inman made a joke about guy gamers vs girl gamers. The joke was pretty simple: A guy gamer makes a mistake and gets bitched out by his fellow teammates online. Contrast to that, a girl gamer makes a mistake and her fellow teammates try to comfort her, tell her she's doing great, and make suggestive comments about hooking up. To me the joke was clear, guys treat girls differently online. However, that's not how the rest of the internet saw it...
From what I've read of the whole Oatmeal flare up, the reasons for the hate seem grounded in the fact he depicted the girl as blond and bubbly (ie: stupid) and not as
