DA Lit : Who We AreI am proud to be exclusively a literature artist. I really don't know how to do anything else. Here on DA, Literature is not necessarily under appreciated by most of the people in the community, it is just widely ignored. I think, really, many of us are completely okay with that. For the most part, we aren't here for popularity.DA Lit : Who We Are2 years ago in Personal More Like This
We are here for each other. We don't have thousands of followers. We don't have millions of faves. But for the most part, we have been able to find other artists that help us to refine our art. I've said it before and I'll say it again: I truly cannot express the appreciation and love that I have for my friends who consistently critique my work. One ~monstroooo, ~ChibiDomo, or any other of my adamant critique-rs is worth a thousand faceless, nameless followers.
We are a community of our own. There are many groups here on DA that inspire writ
Quick Tips: On Referencing AnatomyReference from real life whenever possible.Quick Tips: On Referencing Anatomy2 years ago in Personal More Like This
When you reference or copy from another artist's studies/sketches/art, you may be copying their mistakes as well. Furthermore, an artist's studies are their notes and --just like with history or chemistry notes-- copying someone else's notes will not help you fully understand the material. To completely understand anatomy, you must take your own notes and build your own understanding through observation.
This is probably a no-brainer for many artists but... ~scruffynerfherder and I were talking about this last night, and with the increase of "anatomy studies" showing up on dA's front page, it's been on my mind. DA's resource category has some great material, but I also feel like there is a lot of misleading information taught by amateurs who really probably shouldn't be teaching things like shading or anatomy, because they have a less-than-stellar grasp on it themselves. I'm not trying to knock anyone here, but it's a bit tr

The United States Congress is proposing two laws that address the problem of wide-scale unlicensed distribution on the Internet of motion pictures, songs, trademarked goods, and patented pharmaceuticals.
One of the proposals is called SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and would direct search engines in the United States to block Internet sites outside the United States that are primarily engaged in distributing unlicensed content.Another proposal called PIPA (Protect IP Act) would block websites located in the United States as well. The Obama administration is putting a stop to these proposals. It wants the Internet companies and the content companies to get together and come up with more functional and less destructive solutions.
human natureive been noticing far too much lately that people are hating on the human race - guys, i know it can be discouraging what with the things that we hear, but contrary to what the media likes us to think most people are gentle well-meaning things who are often insecure and sometimes their insecurity manifests itself in negative ways. they are not meaning to be malevolent, they are sometimes just misguided and confused, and very likely frustrated. unfortunately people after this strain unintentionally make their feeling of insecurity and pessimism infectious, and the pattern continues in this way unless it is broken.human nature4 months ago in Personal More Like This
i do not mean to sound like a hippy who professes of a world without any violence or displeasure (as both of those things are necessary in moderation), but i would like to highlight the value of communication, understanding, and sympathy even in those who you may not think deserve it. you do not have to like everyone, but it is essential for cooperation that you understa
