MarshmallowsHer fingers curled nervously around the ceramic hot chocolate mug. She was particularly amused by the little marshmallows that floated aimlessly in the pools of creamy brown. "Like little clouds," she mumbled to herself in the utmost of private fashions. She lightly stirred a small spoon through the mixture and watched the little clouds twirl and swirl as she sighed, wistfully glancing out the window to the waning light shower. The droplets weren't heavy or overwhelming enough to bring gloom bubbling up to the surface of the café, yet it certainly hampered the mood. It was a lazy day, she remarked to herself, which should have meant thatMarshmallows5 years ago in General More Like This

As the tide washes away
Our worries
Our cares
Our hopes and fears
And our sandals
We can walk barefoot through the sand again
And laugh
And love
When time has no meaning

Wanderer at DuskThe waves' foamy fingers creep and caress a shore of white crystalsWanderer at Dusk5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
A gull gives its salty caw to the sea
Sweet tears fall like bedsheets
The sun licks at the sky with hungry tongues of flame
And a man walks alone
Happy
With The breeze washing away the fact
That he was ever there
And life goes on

From a man with no arms
Eating poppy muffins
In the sky, yeah, in the sky
Cause we all float by
And give him two cents
When nothing else can bring him down
There's a farmer's deed
In the old crow's nest
Of an old pirate ship
On the sea, yeah, on the sea
Cause we all float by
And write our initials
In permanent ink on the parchment
And our cellphones ring
Their ding-dong chime
Of new text messages when they arrive
On the screen, yeah, on the screen
Cause we all float by
And no attention is paid
To the late roses of June

Without YouThe water's dripping down nowWithout You5 years ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
Across my mottled back
In circles and in corkscrews
Into an old rucksack
Of burlap and of canvas
Tied up with bits of string
That never seem to mention
Their views on anything
Don't you know
I've got nowhere to go
Without you
Oh, without you
In a home
Up on a lonely street
There we'll meet
Just you and me
In summer or in winter
I'm feign to unbelieve
That people are the causes
Of everything we see
The newsmen with their papers
The TVs with their screams
Mean nothing to my ego
They're all just make believe
Cause you're
My meaning
You're a
Song beating
Through a
Cold sunshine

The Spiders DanceIn the heart of Africa,The Spiders Dance5 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
In Chicago town,
In a vacant building lot
Rustic, gold, and brown
There the spiders gather
Coming by the pair
To dance the dance of Ireland
With Springtime in the air
They dance on streets, on building blocks
That children horde and save
They dance on flowers, petals wide
They dance on pretty graves
The graves of all the businessmen
Who never saw their kids
The graves of ragged protestors
That never shut their lids
They dance on through the looking glass
With Alice and the Hare
And rarely stop to notice
The weight their dancing bares
For to them, it matters not
If you be rich or poor
They'll tramp

Dry-clean onlyI can't help but rememberDry-clean only5 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
The empty hill we climbed
With leaves crunching like fireworks
With each labored step you took
(And how you wanted me to kiss you
But I didn't)
Or
Your jet lagged glances in my direction
Like little bells ringing through my head
That left me wanting more
I can't help but remember
Time well spent
Feeding each other ice cream
As the rain poured cats and dogs
Outside the little shop on the strip
But most of all
I can't help but remember you
And though we're apart
I'll never forget
Cause our love is dry-clean only

The Looking Glass TreeIn the Spring there's a fieldThe Looking Glass Tree5 years ago in Urban & Spoken Word More Like This
Where the poppy seeds grow
And we go there to be together
It's a place in our heads
That we barely can reach
And it always has perfect weather
Oh, the distance is far
Between you, between I
But I'll always be here when you need me
And I'll wait in the field
Where the poppy seeds grow
Sitting 'neath our old looking glass tree

And we left footprints

But they're all that matter now
Cause we won't have another

Listening to Sublime causes...The sun is melting on the horizonListening to Sublime causes...5 years ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
And we'll sit and watch it, baby
Burn my eyes, burn my brittle soul
And start over in this feathered world
Summer's passing, spring ain't coming
There's no time left
There's no one home
So I'll sleep through the end, sleep through the day
The earth stops spinning
We all stop breathing
And there's a strange sort of spectacle
When the last leaves fall to the ground
But we'll be back
As the skies come to a halt
And the grass withers and fades
Cause nothing can break us, babe
Nothing in the world or out

Day with the DevilThere was an obnoxiously loud yawn beneath a blob of sheets, the unknown lump of fabric at the center of a soft, silken bed. Granted, this bed wasn't in the best condition it could've been in. For example, all of the pillows had been haphazardly pushed off of the mattress, the comforter in bunches, and, of course, the blob. The mass moved with a groan, an amber eye peeking out from underneath the white covering. "Uggggh " came the owner of the eye's voice, the gold blinking before pulling the sheets down once more to shield him from the morning sun.
