Passion for Art'Passion', I use to hear this word from lips of people that love what they do, from people that work hard, from people with ideals. They don't need to look weird or fantastic, wise or intelectual, they are just normal people. People that are in love with their work.Passion for Art3 years ago in Personal More Like This
'Passion', like when we drew for first time, when we were kids taking a notebook trying to fill these pages with our heroes, the things we wanted, we dreamed, our house, our family, our pets, etc.
'Passion' like first time somebody broke our heart and just a piece of paper and a pencil could console us. Like when our parents argued and we felt so frustrated having nothing to do just to define our rage in some doodles.
It's like something that comes from us without asking for permission, it just appears and burns, we don't search for it, it is something that we "suffer" but is according to our actions, our work, our effort. it is stimulated for the things that move us.
I hated art many times and I loved

In Defense Of Making A Living Through ArtThere's a frustrating element I've noticed lately in regards to Art. "Art with a capital 'A'", as a friend of mine calls it. And I suppose this blog was triggered by the cancellation of the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic fan game Fighting is Magic. The fandom lost its collective shit because Hasbro sent the developers a Cease and Desist letter. The entitlement was just amazing to watch, and even worse was the sheer ignorance. Some of it stupid, like "Technically, all fanworks are parodies, so it's not illegal!" and "Copyright laws are so stupid!" to cruel, like "They can just take their development overseas, then Hasbro can't stop them!"In Defense Of Making A Living Through Art2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I was baffled by this. Because Hasbro had the right to protect their intellectual property.
See, I've been a freelance artist for a while now. And it's hard. It is so freaking hard, and part of the reason it's hard is because the default attitude of most people you deal with is, "We're not, like, going to pay you a lot. Or give you i

Sexual Molestation and the Catholic ReligionHi there, I hope this doesn't offend.Sexual Molestation and the Catholic Religion6 months ago in Personal More Like This
I was raised a Christian btw, but not very devout. Anyways, I saw two movies recently that made me ask this question: why is there so much sexual molestation of parish priests against young boys in the Catholic religion?
Surely, I don’t think it has anything to do with the religion itself, I mean, anyone can be a rapist regardless of race, religion or gender but I wonder this because....
I recently watched Doubt (2008). A very powerful film that left me disturbed.
And then there’s The Godfather: Part II and Part III, the latter dealing more with the Catholic belief system but the former kinda asking the question of...well...Michael’s older brother, Fredo’s questionable...possibly closet bisexuality based on a childhood sexual abuse by a parish priest.
Oblivion FeatureOblivion Feature3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is one of my favourite games of all time, surpassed only by Morrowind, and I've been planning for a long time to put together a feature with original artwork. Unfortunately, it is very hard to find genuine fan art since almost all Oblivion-related deviations on dA are game screenshots (or manipulations thereof), and I found only a limited number of devs I could use.
Oblivion is an open-ended first-person RPG with an expansive and detailed world, released in 2006. The central plot revolves around the efforts to thwart the fanatical cult Mythic Dawn that plans to open the gates to the demonic realm of Oblivion. In addition to the extensive main quest, there are quest lines for several guilds, and many side missions. Despite being less diversified and immersive than Morrowind, the incredible amount of quality third-party add-ons add a lot of scope and replay value to the game.

Tips for smooth clean line artHi,Tips for smooth clean line art2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Is your line art shaky, wobbly, sloppy, fat, uneven or pixelated? The subject of clean line art comes up a lot so I've gathered together a number of tips from various DA members that may help you improve your line art. Some of the techniques described below may contradict other techniques described below so you may want to experiment and decide what works best for you. Most of these assume that you have a digital tablet. (Make sure your tablet drivers have been installed correctly. If your cursor is behaving erratically it may indicate a problem with your tablet or drivers.) Some posts have been edited for brevity or spelling:
"I developed my own technique. And it works quite well for me. It raised my Lineart cleanliness from 24% to 98%, yeah, really. Here is how I do it digitally when I'm not using a traditional sketch:
First a rough sketch, and I isolate it in its own layer then set its opacity to 50 or something near that value.
Then on the second layer

Dear Anonymous DeviantI know not who you are for you intended it to be this way. Your random act of kindness, seeking nothing in return, (not even recognition), floors me. There are not many whom I have encountered out in this world who are like you and becoming of praise. I thank you. However difficult or effortless this may have been to you it moved me. Very recently I've been reminded of all the evils in the world, the folly from other people's selfishness and the destruction that accompanies. My heart sank to a low place with these thoughts today. Your random (or perhaps very purposed) gift of generosity was like a hand outstretched to me this evening reminding me of all the bright lights and love on the other end of the spectrum. You lifted me up: there was still good that came to me today.Dear Anonymous Deviant3 years ago in Personal More Like This

Musical discoveries!I love it when I find out about stuff that barely anyone knows about, and thus this journal will be all about songs and bands you might not have heard of before, but will make you wack yourself for not knowing them.Musical discoveries!4 years ago in Personal More Like This
First up! I'm sure you're all aware of who Danny Elfman is. If you aren't, you will probably recognise his music from a vast majority Tim Burton's movies, such as "Nightmare Before Christmas", "Edward Scissorhands", and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
However, Danny Elfman also had a few projects of his own. No, I don't mean his band Oingo Boingo (which is pretty awesome, but still.). About a year ago my friend :iconshy-angel42: introduced me to one of his abandoned projects, a musical called "Little Demons". the story follows three evil children who kill people to bring back their mother. That's as far as I know about it. The music style is very much like TNBC! Here are some choice songs.

I love you guys lots!! R.I.P. Phillip Seymour HoffmanI was shocked learning of the death of Phillip Seymour Hoffman, a great actor and artist at the age of 46. I primarily know him from his role as Max from "Mary and Max" -- one of the most touching (claymation at least) movies I've seen that speaks to me on so many personal levels. As well as his role in "The Big Lebowski" -- another favorite of mine. When it comes to movies, I'm not quite well immersed with everything I should see, which sucks.R.I.P. I had no idea that Hoffman was a Heroin addict, which shows how much I know. This world blows, quite often, we lose great men such as Hoffman. He will be missed!

Homestuck? More like homeSUCK. (An elaboration)At the risk of my watchers looking down on me, I've decided to express my distaste for homestuck.Homestuck? More like homeSUCK. (An elaboration)4 years ago in Personal More Like This
It seems like everyone either, 1) Likes the fandom (art) of homestuck, but doesn't actually like homestuck itself, OR 2) Likes homestuck but can't stand the fandom surrounding it.
I, personally, don't appreciate either.
I find homestuck to be an incredibly mediocre...webcomic? that got really really blown up for whatever reason and now I cannot escape it. It's everywhere online. The overhype is oozing into every crevice of the internet like a mildly warm combination of masturbation-sweat and zit-puss. All of the fanart is blending together into one big clusterfuck of grey skin and candy corn.
The argument that's always presented to anyone that dislikes it is "WELL, KEEP READING, IT GETS BETTER".
I'm sorry, but if I've been sitting here reading something for as long as it could have taken for me to watch an entire movie and I'm still bored as all hell:
IT'S NOT A GOOD STORY.

The Animalia WebAfter looking all over deviantArt and finding mostly people who either have no idea what the difference between furries and anthros or have incredibly misguided definitions of them, And people stereotype people such as those who call themselves furries as people who have sexual attractions to animals based off of these totally misguided definitions. That's not even close to right, so this list needed to be made. The Animalia Web4 years ago in Personal More Like This
There are many people who say that furries and anthros are the same thing, but there is in fact a distinct difference between them. The dictionary definition for the full word, Anthropomorph, is "ascribing human form or attributes to a being or thing not human" . If you look closely, you'll see that the definition says nothing about animals, but tells us that an anthro is anything not human that is given human traits. RJ from Over the Hedge is an anthro. Mickey Mouse is an anthr

Ok so if you have never played the portal series, you're probably wondering, who in the fuck is Doug Rattmann?! Well I'll tell you what I know.
Doug Rattmann, most just call him Rattmann, is a scientist at Aperture Science. He had apparently helped program GLaDOS. And I may want to mention Rattmann was a Paranoid Skytsophrenic (lol I'm back with grammer) so he had to take Anti-Physcotic medication to keep from going crazy. In the Labrat Portal 2 comic, Rattmann says the creepy line, "You can always ignore your consiounce." Well, the poor man ending up being right. When GLaDOS was finally activated, she had decided to take over and flood the facility with nuerotoxen, and of all days, she chooses bring your daughter to work day. What a bitch!

Who do I pray to to straighten out this problem?
Straighten out this problem, straighten out my mind.
Straighten out this crooked toungue...
My mind has wandered, from the straight and narrow.
My mind has wandered from the flock you see.
My mind has wandered, the man just said so.
My mind has wandered, I heard it on TV.
And the flock has wandered away from me.
All around the world now
Like a big bright cherry cloud
Traveling from home to home
TV sets and telephones
Here it comes just like a storm
Bathe in it and be reborn
Time to let the world know
Welcome madness, say hello
Like a wave we cannot see
Washing over you and me
Hiding here and hiding there
Madness hiding everywhere
Such a curiosity
Here it comes to set us free
Plenty left for you and me
Say hello insanity
I am the virus, are you the cure?
I am morally, I'm morally impure
I am a disease and I am unclean
I am not part of God's well oiled machine
Christian nation, assimilate me
