Apologies for yet another upload of this to all who've seen it before... I'm taking advantage of the fact that I've just joined the Deviantart Film section to upload a higher quality version that you can watch from the deviantart page, and annotate and all that!

DVD with full TV quality is available to buy here! :) The DVD also includes 3 extra short animations.

Watch it on youtube here!

Creation: The animation was created by me over a 6 month period as my final project for an Animation course at Kingston Uni.

Story: The story and characters are based on a scene from a story by *kandinsky-prince This was originally meant to be a trailer of sorts for a full length manga that we were pitching to Tokyopop. Unfortunately it never went through, and development on the story is now on hold for the foreseeable future.

Language: Completely made up by me and *kandinsky-prince! Based loosely on Spanish with smatterings of other languages.

Music and Sound: Music composed, and sound provided by the audio-gifted ~moosebeast :D

Technical Info: About 80% of the animation is hand drawn in pencil, scanned and coloured in Photoshop, then composited in After Effects. 3D Backgrounds, and the 'hall of fingers' animation created in Maya, with toon shading for lines, and hand made textures.

Wow! a DD!! @@ Thanks to everyone who has commented and faved, and thanks especially to *pixieface for the suggestion and ^feawen for the feature!!

Tell me if there's any better way to organize these, because this is huge. :[

I'm still highly conflicted on whether to post this INCOMPLETE and BADLY ANIMATED film, but oh well. Have some stills - because even though I'm not an animator, I'm pretty proud of the concepts and the final looks I managed to achieve.

Only two of the characters appear in the final animation. Yeah, like I said, incomplete.

Here is a video showing the making of "Taste Buds", my 27 m² abstract painting meant to be a temporary decorative and colorful working space for Michelin Star Chefs Yves Mattagne ("Sea Grill" Restaurant) and Axel Colonna ("Cent Pour Cent" Restaurant) during Culinaria 2013 gastronomy festival at Tour & Taxis Maritime Station in Brussels, Belgium. There was also an exhibition with some Pencil Vs Camera signed limited edition prints during the event. I also created the music for the video.

I actually have a fun story from the day we where recording. :P The scene where she goes bananas on the door... I was the guy standing on the other side, holding the door still with all my strength. I didn't mind standing a little in the the corridor. But as the actress where screaming like mental (as you heard in the film), several people at the hospital heard the screaming and went looking, what is she screaming for? Of course all they saw was a crazy guy (me) holding the door so she couldn't get out! As they didn't know we where filming, some went like crazy all over the place thinking I where trying to kill the actress or something. I couldn't tell them because the camera where rolling and the mice would catch my voice. :XD: Eventually I where able to tell them that we where actually filming, before one of them called the police xD

We have been working on this about a ½ year, mainly we have been 5 people following the project. Been a rather large production for such a short film =P

They are talking Norwegian but I think there is no reason to translate. It wont be the reason if you don't get it, but if you wonder about the ending... don't ask me :P

Directed by Eivind Solberg, he also wrote the script.
I've been the producer and done all the colours and VFX.
Behind the camera where Petter Olsen
Your mic girl was Åshild Samseth
Music by Thortrillion Tomsborg
Edited by Stine Carlsen

For those of you who wonder about the ending, here is the director's thoughts.

### The director's thoughts ###
She had to take her own life in order to wake up. By puling the cable she will some how kill herself in the current world and then be able to wake up in the real world. Only reason she is holding her child is to mentally overcome the challenge. So the ending is that she wakes up.

Anyway, that's just one way to look at it.
Enjoy, do comment if you like! :w00t!:
