Let's check out the FILM category! Something small, for starters. So far everything looks really swell, although you still have to be real lucky to get to play a movie... or upload it. Kind of reminds me of good old times back when I first signed up on dA...

Hmm, the sound seems off in the "normal" version... Any specific format I should've uploaded it in to prevent this kind of strange things?
Oh no, my carefully hand-picked thumbnails don't show up!

Well I finished! :faint: I was in a rush to get this done before this weekend when I will be unplugging my computer and more than likely being offline with the move for a week or more. So I am very happy to get this done.

The objective here was to make something very similar to the TV series Battlestar Galactica, trying to re-create/mimic the special effects and title sequence clips they had in the show. To "test myself" against what I consider to be one of the best special effects and very well written SciFi series on TV within the past few years. I wanted to see if I could do it.

ALL scenes withing this clip were rendered by me on Cinema 4D, the battlestar is the Ouroboros from SciFiMeshes.com, converted to Cinema 4D and materials re-applied by me.

ALL models were converted to Cinema 4D by me in the clip. In some cases custom materials applied. Each individual sequence withing this film was then imported into Particle Illusion and special effects were applied... explosions, light effects, smoke, etc...

Many thanks once again to the wonderful =Moonchilde-Stock for her fantastic backgrounds which I used in two of the scenes. Gorgeous nebula's!

Again I am experimenting here with flyby's and trying to create more "natural" environments. This animation includes a physical sun with lens flares. The ship is mostly in shadow, but this was to show the real "star" (lol no pun intended ;P ) of the show which is the sun and the sky revolving as the camera pans to follow the ship. In fact if you look closely you can see the constellation of Orion come into view in the lower left hand portion of the screen just before the sun comes into view - at the beginning of the sequence you can also see "The Seven Sisters" a star formation also known as the Pleiades.

The ship is the VCX-350 Light Freighter from the Corellian Engineering Corporation (also manufacturers of the popular YT-1300 aka The Millenium Falcon).

Ship model from [link]

Model created by Keith Hazelet

Sound effects are again by me, with the exception of the opening Lucasfilm sound. The ship flyby sound effect is again a recording of a car passing - I was lucky enough to have a brand new Mustang GT350 pass by as I was recording with no other traffic nearby ;) Yay!

In this 3D animation of the Republic Cruiser from Star Wars I edited the dynamics of the engine flare to include a distance scale - I also corrected the credits to reflect the source of the model.

3D animation test of the model of this Klingon Mek'hlar Class Destroyer created by Don't Shoot and converted by Trekkie on Foundation 3D.

Again I created the sound effect for the close passing of the ship, can anyone guess what the original sound was? ;) Not in a million years will anyone guess

I hope everyone enjoys this short movie :D

Another attempt at the animation of this gorgeous model of an Imperial Star Destroyer - this time with some close-up action ;)

Sound effect was created by me and is actually the sound of a car passing close by (I stood at the side of the street and recorded cars passing by - jeez did I get some strange looks! O_o ). I then passed the sound files through various filters and software until I had this - oh well it works for now lol!

Enjoy :D

Oops forgot to say in the splash screen that the Hoth image is from scifi3d as well - by Dan North :D

This was shot with a Minolta DImage F300 still camera, in 320x240 mode. We're at El Mirage Dry Lake, in Southern California, chasing Dust Devils. They appear fairly often on the lake bed during the summer. As you'll see from the movie, they come in many sizes and intensities, or "personalities" as I like to think of them.

The music is from a piano piece which I improvised a few years before I filmed the movie. I decided to choreograph the movie to the music. The roughness of the movement of the camera is intentional, as I felt it went with the music. Afterwards, I added a few new instruments to the piano score to beef it up just a little.

I filmed the dust devils on three separate trips to the lake. My camera took quite a beating, especially in the sequence near the end where I let one of the dust devils pass right over me. The air pressure changes a little in the middle of them and it's a strange feeling, a bit like you can't breathe, but only for a short second.

I'll hopefully get back there soon and shoot an HD version of this, with a different cast of dust devils. Now I just need an HD camera!

Hope you enjoy the movie.
