Morph Transfer Options Added to DS 462That's DAZ Studio 4.6.2, the latest version as of this writing.Morph Transfer Options Added to DS 4622 years ago in Personal More Like This
If you transfer morphs with Transfer Utility, you might previously have noticed that you have no option to only transfer SOME morphs. This can particularly be annoying with Genesis morphs, where you end up transferring hundreds and then have to sort out and save to library just the one you want.
Well, the newest version of DAZ Studio has an additional feature to help with this.
In the Parameters tab, when you've found the dial for a particular morph, right-click on it. One of your options is "Favorites." Hover over that and you can choose "Add Selected Properties to Favorites."
On most items, all morphs are not favorited by default, including Genesis. Mark just the morph or morphs you want to transfer as favorites in the manner described.
Now when you start Transfer Utility, uncheck everything but the "Morph Targets" option. You need to have the "Show Options" button checked to expand that par
XPS to Rigged Daz Studio FigureIf anyone interested finds this: I couldn't find anyone who had done this and wrote about it. I'm still figuring it out, after a lot of dead ends, but I do have my first working figure. After trying methods using 3d studio, blender(multiple versions since scripts seem to work only for the version they where written for- and Norton's hates blender.exe) , hexagon and a few others and addons I got it to work with Just XPS and Daz (with blender as a little optional help!). The Kasumi DOA figure rendered in my Gallery (as of this writing) was rigging automatically with the G2F skeleton (cleaning up the joints is on the "to do" list) using the DAZ built in transfer tool. The basic steps are:XPS to Rigged Daz Studio Figure1 year ago in Personal More Like This

1) Export a copy of the DAZ figure (in my case G2F) whose rigging you want to use, with a zeroed (default) pose as an OBJ (The pose is IMPORTANT.) I also had to rip o

How many times has each of us thought that our postings are getting buried by others? Let's face it: there are over 32,000,000 accounts on this site, and 160,000 pieces are uploaded every day.
One thing to consider is where you're putting your work.
Don't I want to put it in the most popular section of the site?
Not really. I know that the first impulse is to put your work right where you think everyone's going to see it immediately. But with 160,000 works posted per day, if everyone posts it all in "digital" or "
Klaus : more than just a pretty boySo, I've always gotten a very positive response from readers and watchers whenever Klaus is mentioned, but for those who have not read my book and especially my final draft, I don't feel like you know him well enough. around Chapter 8 at Edith's dinner party in late June
"Would you care to accompany me to the veranda for a cigarette?" he asked. "There's one on the second floor, and it's getting a bit stuffy in here."
I agreed, and soon we were standing out on the lanai, elbows leaning upon the cool iron, the brisk summer wind rustling the ivy that crawled up the side of the railing. Klaus pulled a pack of cigarettes from his waistcoat pocket along with a lighter. Imprinted in the copper were the letters K&K, and suddenly I wanted to ask him what had happened the other day—what Heinrich had said about choosing the Gypsy over him. I didn't have time to ask though, because K
What is art? There's a lot of deviations on the front page that I check out just so I can read the comments. What is art?4 years ago in Personal More Like This
A lot of users seem to think they can define what is art and what isn't, and this never fails to infuriate me.
Have these people ever been to any art galleries? A lot of popular modern art looks like it's been drawn by 5 year olds in 5 minutes, while classical art all looks exactly the same. Maybe they should go visit some museums and start shouting "not art, herp derp" until they get thrown out.
If stuff you don't like makes the front page, it means there's an audience for that sort of stuff, in which case you should be blaming DeviantArt's user base rather than insulting the artists. Funnily enough, unoriginal Pokemon and Pony crap doesn't get as much hate as a lot of nude stuff. I wonder why. (*coughpersonalinsecuritiescough*)
Wikipedia's definition of art is: "Art is the product or process of deliberately arranging items (often with symbolic significance) in a way that influences and aff
Benjamin Jastrow : Altruism or Self-Abnegation?An important point in the characterization of Paper Stars is that each character has one very important characteristic that defines them as a person and influences their day to day lives. Each of these traits are supposed to be both the character's greatest asset and their greatest flaw. They both build the character up and destroy their progress. And in this journal, I wannted to share with my readers an in-depth analysis of Benjamin Jastrow.Benjamin Jastrow : Altruism or Self-Abnegation?3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Easily the antithesis of Sara, Benjamin's defining characteristic is his altruism, and all of his other traits are influenced by it or are a result of it. His mild, gentle nature is centered around his carnal fear of causing others discomfort, which, in turn, becomes his own discomfort. His kindness is not limited to only those he cares for--it stretches to all those he meets, even when they are cruel to him, and he willingly shoulders the blame for any and all grievances around him. He is a human scapegoat, an alacritous martyr willing to give u
Copyrights, patents, piracy etcHay guys, to what extent do you think it's okay to steal/copy stuff?Copyrights, patents, piracy etc4 years ago in Personal More Like This
I'm really undecided about many of these issues myself, so I made myself a wee questionaire and filled it in with my opinions.
Keep in mind I'm not a lawyer, and don't really care about what the actual laws are.
Do you think it's okay to pirate software, movies, music and books?
I support piracy because I see it as free advertising and believe that most people who would have paid for it still will.
I make a point to buy stuff I really like, though I'm more likely to support poorer developers or projects that just didn't pay off.
How about pirating really old stuff (NES games, The Beatles etc)?
It really bothers me how Nintendo are still trying to sell their old games, but then again they'd lose sales on their new games if they gave away those old ones for free. So *shrugs*. I've never felt bad about not paying for old stuff though, it's more important to support those who are actually
[Tutorial] Transferring Character Morphs G1 to G2(Updated for new features in DS 4.6.2.)[Tutorial] Transferring Character Morphs G1 to G22 years ago in Personal More Like This
I've been hearing a fair amount of complaints about Genesis 2 Female lately, and I understand; I said many of the same things when it first came out. I should've known better, because I also did this when Genesis came out, but sometimes we live and learn slower than we'd like.
One of the most common, and most easily answered, is "I already have a bunch of characters for G1 that I can't recreate on G2." For this purpose, G2 refers to Genesis 2, not the old Poser G2 figures.
Well, as a matter of fact, you can. With practice you can do it in seconds per FBM (don't let the length of the tutorial fool you). The first version of this workflow came from Kattey on the DAZ forum, for which I acknowledge credit.
Here is that (lengthy) thread: http://www.daz3d.com/forums/viewthread/24093/
Here's what I've been doing myself.
First of all, however: there are two ways to recreate a character. There is the easy wa
About my TMNT rantGot a long journal head of you. I tried to break it up a bit so you can skim parts.About my TMNT rant1 year ago in Personal More Like This
It appears some people were a little less than happy with the idea that I’m not going to see the new TMNT movie, yet have already formed a negative opinion about it. Some people, who don’t understand what the word means, are calling this “hypocritical” since I often ask that people try to see both sides of an issue, so taking a definitive stance here with (what appears to be to them) incomplete data is wrongheaded of me. So now I gotta write this journal to explain my actions better. Hope you’re happy ‘bout that...
It’s just a movie! Why does it matter?
Because it’s not JUST a movie. Movies do not exist in a vacuum. How well (or bad) a movie does informs YEARS of upcoming movies and careers. Thousands of people’s jobs are dictated on the whim of what the box office rankings are for opening weekend. A now famous example is Guillermo

1st off, put away your snowflake porn, winter is over... \sicko\... that being said,
There is /b/ a rapidly expanding paradox within the scientific community that has been dubbed 'the singularity';
simply put, it is the rise of machines from mindless constructs to fully sapient organisms. (Moar specifically it is the eventual rise of a singular construct bearing intellect that equals the ENTIRE human race - but we are simply concerned with sapience and mote conscious at this hour..) Science fiction has covered elements of this subject in many forms, from tasteful compositions such as 'i Robot' to lesser artistic productions such as 'Stealth'. It is ironic that 'Stealth' is closer to the truth than the majority of these films. Behold, your (if applicable) military's 'Great' plan:

"Why do you get that look in your eye when you speak to Daniel? Has he offended you in some way?"
Saul bit his lip, but didn't respond.
"It isn't him, is it? It's Benjamin. You dislike him because of his brother. Why do you hate Benjamin? He has done nothing wrong!"
"Sara, don't you understand that he did this to you?" said Saul, his voice stretched. "I know he was a nice boy and that you loved him, but you've turned him into a saint in your min. You've canonized him, and you don't realize that if it weren't for him, none of this would have happened to you!"

In response to this, Anonymous launched their biggest attack ever against organizations like the MPAA, RIAA etc and took down their websites.
Since the SOPA protest was received extremely well, it'll be exciting to see what other political moves the internet can make in future.
The fascists won't be able to beat down protesters on the internet like they did with Occupy Wall Street.
Teslapunk technologyHere's a question for the physicistsTeslapunk technology4 years ago in Personal More Like This
If we discover a way create a path of low electrical resistance through air (wireless electricity, electrical fields with sharp edges), what are some of the technologies that might spring from it?
So far I've got:
(1) appliances that pick up electricity from generators in the area (like wifi)
(2) weapons that zap you, like wireless tasers
(4) a shell of low resistance sandwiched between shells of high resistance, the middle shell filled with suspended bits of metal. Set it to spin. Instant shield.
(5) create different paths for metal shards to move down, and your rail- or coil-gun becomes a variable-length chainsaw. Or boomerang gun.
(7) a powerful and complicated looped path for electrons. Pass it through electronics and watch them fry. Pass it through someone's head and they die or go insane.
Any other ideas?

Seriously... This is dA we're talking about.
This is nothing new (as seen that this same thing happened in 2013 and onward) but please, be on your guard.
Quite a few people have been posting about this web url that supposedly was sent to them by Deviantart about a 'free premium membership' through either a note or an email.
First of all, DON'T CLICK IT.
Chances are it's a virus, phishing site, or it'll put a Keylogger virus on your computer... which means it'll take all your information about your dA page and hack/p

Like millions of kids growing up in the 1980s, I spent many happy hours imagining what it would be like in the rosy future when George Lucas made new Star Wars movies. It was almost as difficult and delicious to imagine as adulthood.
Return of the Jedi came out in 1983, but many, many years would pass before we had new stories. In the meantime, we created our own stories with fan art, fan
An Offer For You, as an ArtistDear D.Artist,An Offer For You, as an Artist3 years ago in Personal More Like This
this offers refers to you, as to other D. Artists who wish to:
- candidate their images to my offer
- develop a new image to submit for this offer (Very appreciated!)
I have a project, I'm developing a free game that will be released in April-May 2013.
This game will probably reach thousands of people in a few months and many more in a few years.
In the first phase, I grant you Credits and website address reference on any image of yours.
When it will turn commercial, you will also earn an annual income, calculated in a percentage.
Do you want your image, with your credits (name and website), to be in this game since its very start?
The contract provides you that:
- in the first phase of the game, it is free, and I grant you visibility granting credits and web reference to you.
- in the second phase it is released on the market, so it turns commercial, and I also grant you an annual income..
This way, I legally bind myself to pay you an annual percentage of the income, an

Thank you everyone for joining in!
Well it looks like part 1 went well enough to continue to part 2 and for this while there is a deadline for the entries to be displayed in this journal you can still feel free to make pictures using some of these great designs some time down the road. The idea for part 2 is to do a picture with one of these outfit designs that have been created from part 1 and other then that there really isn't too much of a guideline so just have fun with it. I guess I need to note that you did not need to have done part 1 to do part 2 so I hope that avoids any of those kinds of questions.
With that all said have at it!
