Surviving Love"I love you"Surviving Love6 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
What a silly phrase
Everyone says it
But very few know the true meaning behind it
I guess they want to say it,
Feel like they NEED to say it,
Simply to know someone cares,
At least a little
But how can you pick the real from the fake?
That's a fact
The fakes are chipper,
While the real smile,
But it's just an act
They're dying inside
They just don't want people to know
For then they would seem weak
And they've felt weak their entire life,
Because no one knows the true dangers of love
Because no one's strong enough to talk about it
If they were,
People wouldn't long for it so much
They would run away
Far, far away
When you're in love,
It tears at your soul
It eats at your body
Consuming cell after cell
Until you can't take it anymore
You bury yourself in blankets
Not because you want to,
But because you have to
These are the people you need to fear
Who may appear weak on the outside,
PoetryPeople say poetry must follow rules,Poetry8 years ago in Free Verse More Like This
It must ryhme,
it musthave certain sylables,
it must keep time.
Poetry should have hidden meaning,
That can only be found,
Between the lines.
Why can't people see,
that poetry can just be.
Not because of some rule,
is poetry beautiful.
That would be just cruel,
But because poetry is beauty put into words.

Soak up the blood-trust
Yet within the borders of familiarity
Regardless of all deception
Past and present
Its still all I represent

Vampire's Lullaby - poemFeel life fade into the abyss,Vampire's Lullaby - poem6 years ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
As you melt into the demon's kiss,
Awake as something darker, higher,
Dream of eternal night, newborn Vampire.
The stars at night will guide your way,
But stay your flesh from light of day,
Trust only in the kin of night,
Drink to live, not to bring might.
Your nature must never be revealed,
Seek not redemption, nor to heal.
Turn only those with a strong heart,
Protect your sired, from the dark.
Feel the change, rise from the abyss,
Remember the feel of the dark ones kiss,
Awake from death, rise from the fire;
Haunt anew, my dear vampire.
Advanced Writing TutorialWord choiceAdvanced Writing Tutorial9 years ago in General Non-Fiction More Like This
Word choice is imperative and potentially complicated. You want your language to sound in-character (it doesn't matter whether it's limited first-person or omniscient third-person; it still needs character) and intriguing without being confusing or nonsensical. It is good to have a thesaurus and dictionary nearby when deciding on word choice; neither one is more important than the other. It is very important to remember that even though words can be generally synonymous, that doesnt mean they have the same definition. This is where roots usually come into play.
Let's use the word "great" as an example; thats a pretty easy one. Imagine that you're writing a story, just typing along, and you want to substitute the word "great" with something having more intensity. Well, let's just think of a few of the synonyms you could use: magnificent, marvelous, fantastic, fabulous, amazing, awe-inspiring, breath-taking, excellent, wonderful.... The list goes on.

AbuseHer fragile body clings to the wall for support. His harsh beatings rain down on her body continuously. A scream elicits from her mouth after each punch. Each one muffled by the large, unscaleable walls of this dreaded place. All of his beatings break her inside. Slowly. Her body adjusting to the constant pain. Pale skin, covered in dark bruises. Some old, some new. Each one a reminder. Each one brings forth painful memories. Ones she wished were just nightmares. Silently he mocks her with each beating. But every time he opens his mouth, his words are as horrific as the beatings. Once he grows bored, he leaves her there to suffer. But before he leaves her there on the floor, broken. The same seven words leave his mouth each time. Tearing her to pieces and reducing her to tears once again.Abuse6 years ago in Short Stories More Like This

and now i'm standing on
with no breath to call my own.
somewhere far out
past the oceans,
somewhere in space-

singing on the moon,
with breath like bells
and a song
like a dying mermaid.
and he can sing;
and i cannot.
and he can breathe;
and i cannot.
but i try to not be jealous
of the things i cannot do,
or the things that i don't have.
because i guess in the end
i'm so afraid of disappointing myself
that i don't aim high enough.
and maybe i could be
the blue-bird on the moon-
singing and breathing.
but i'm so afraid of failing that
instead i just sit in my room-
holding my breath,
and staying silent.

the sky is empty. it's like an endless blue abyss of nothingness, dotted only by the sun, hanging effortlessly above us - perfection in its simplest form.
it's warm, and our hands are intertwined between us as we lay in the grass watch the silhouettes of birds cut through the blue canvas of the sky. i hear the air stir through the tall trees in my yard, and suddenly there is a refreshing breeze that skims our exposed skin and brings us back, reminds us of the reality around us.
i turn to face you, and in your eyes i can see the sun's reflection tangled with the brown flecks of your irises. we don't speak, but you lift yourself from the grass and press your lips gently to mine, and i can feel your lips slowly upturn to a smile, and i realise you make me happier than i've ever been before.
you were an ethereal epitome of everything i've ever wanted.

Define: Emo.If you are unsure of what the term emo means, and you attempt to find out by looking in the dictionary, you wont be successful (mind you, UrbanDictionary.com does NOT count). What would be between emit and emollient will not be found unless you search the Internet for hours browsing around the many emo websites you can find. If you like you can always ask someone on the street what emo is, though I honestly wouldnt choose that option as the majority of peoples ideas of the word are ignorant and prejudice.Define: Emo.8 years ago in Academic Essays More Like This
Theoretically, emo is a genre of music, but it is also considered a fashion trend and a stereotype. I believe the most correct definition I could give you for the word emo would be:
Emo is a music genre which is short for emotional hardcore, and is considered sub-genre of hardcore punk and/or emotional punk. After the music had originated, the term was also
