Depthcore XLIII - "TIME"The Depthcore Collective is proud to release it's 43rd themed chapter exhibition, "TIME". As we near our 10th anniversary, this seems to be an appropriate subject for us as a collective to reflect upon. Ten years have passed by, and the students and teenagers who once populated the group are gone, replaced by full time freelance artists, independent small-business owners and focussed creative professionals. Finding the time (oh, the puns are endless with this theme) to create these Chapters has become increasingly difficult.Depthcore XLIII - "TIME"3 years ago in Personal More Like This
And yet, here we are, with one of our largest collections in the past few years. It certainly came together slowly - after the excitement of our presentation at OFFF and our first exhibition here in New York City the come down from the highs of travelling and showing to the reality of starting over to create a

Started out as a taxi driver and saw so many things on the streets that he kept saying "If only I had a camera…" A camera seemed like the only way to capture the crazy stuff which was happening almost every night.
Claims that the 70's were more interesting than the 80's, but in December 1984 bought a competitive camera, an AE-1 and a 50mm lens.
Started out in color film, but one year after he turned to b/w, because color was tricky to develop.
Thinks that failure is important, and that failing over 99% of the time and not giving up is something to be proud of. Takes "awful pictures on a daily basis and always will. There aren't too many other types of photography where that's the expected result."
Suffered from the photographic equivalent of "Writer's Block" for many years and it would be the crazy decision to spend most of my savings on a pair of M6′s and a few lenses that helped him to comeback. "The 28mm & 35mm lenses are the perfec

Lots of bitching...I haven't been on DA all that much lately due to work commitments, but it seems like every time I log on here people are bitching about this, bitching about that.Lots of bitching...3 years ago in Personal More Like This
Look, at the end of the day, this site provides a service. You can choose to pay for it, or you can choose to not pay for it. It works either way. If you really don't like it, not only should you not pay for it, but don't use it. No one is forcing you to.
It seems like a lot of people seem to think that being a member of this site gives them ownership of it. It doesn't. Be grateful it exists. Be happy that it is (now) profitable. For a long time it wasn't. The people who work on it deserve to make some money - they work hard.
If you don't agree with any of this, I think you're lacking in perspective. There's nothing keeping you here if you don't want to be. I think DA does a great job of listening to a vast community and trying to make changes to please it's members. It can't be incredibly dynamic and flexible to accomodate e
