D-SLR(Digital Single Lens Reflex): Uses the same lens for viewing and shooting. This is what makes it different from a point-and-shoot.
Exposure: The amount of light necessary to register an image on you digital camera sensor
CCD(Charge Coupled Device): A name for the cameras sensor. It can also be called CMOS(Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor). The sensor is what replaces film.
Sensor Sensitivity(ISO): A measure of the sensors light sensitivity.
Composition: How things are laid out in your photo.
Viewfinder: The peice you look through to see your picture. A different choice than the LCD Screen.
Cropping: Zooming in photos while taking out unwanted parts of a photo.
Digital Zoom: Similar to cropping a photo, but done in the form of zoom. This limits photo quality compared to the normal optical zoom.
Dots Per Inch(DPI): The resolution of the image. The more dots, the higher quality the photo.
