Goodbye Star Wars Expanded Universe......Well there goes the Expanded Universe. Its been a privilege to contribute to the universe but now some of my SW works are just part of a glorified "fan fiction". I'm still looking forward to contribute to the new canon but part of the Star Wars fan in me died with the official announcement. I just hope that some parts of the EU will make it through to the new canon. As far as future Star Wars works are concerned I can no longer draw on my knowledge of the EU cause the slate has been wiped clean and everything will be new territory from here on out. Whether this is good or bad I really can't decide at this point. I'll just have to wait and see how things pan out.Goodbye Star Wars Expanded Universe......1 year ago in Personal More Like This
What are your thoughts on this news?
The night I was attacked by a poltergeist. It had been an extremely hot day, I had left the bedroom windows open to air the room. At about 1.30am I entered our bedroom to close the curtains and pull back the bed covers ready for bed. I didn't turn the light on at that moment. As I closed the door, I felt something slapping my head and blowing on my face, plus a loud flapping noise and scratching. I dived to the ground. The night I was attacked by a poltergeist.2 years ago in Personal More Like This
I do not believe in ghosts, but as I was laying on the floor, in the dark between my wife's dressing table and the bed I was certainly questioning that belief. All the time I could hear scratching and rustling noises, my heart was pounding out of my chest. It was beating so hard my face was tingling. I was sweating, the pulse in my head was throbbing, I couldn't breath, I was frozen to the spot, I have never felt so scared in all my life.
I was contemplating all my beliefs about there not being life after death and if this entity could hurt me.
I eventually plucked up the courage to run and turn the light o
PE: The power of contextA picture is indeed "worth a thousand words", a complex idea can be conveyed with a single still image. This quote also characterizes one of the main goals of visualizations, namely making it possible to absorb large amounts of data quickly. In our perception of artworks we see every day, some get closer to our hearts than others. Imagine a painting, strong and powerful, technique showing an experienced, steady hand, needing nothing but a pair of eyes to enter one's sensitive soul. Are you satisfied with what you see? I wouldn't count on that, but I would be quite sure that after a while your head fills with numerous questions.PE: The power of context3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
On the contrary, your favorite artist publishes their recent work and you, as always, immediately love it. If, however, you would allow your mind a little exercise, you could clearly see that if this work was shown to you at random, under different circumstances and you would not know the author, hardly would it catch your interest for a second.

-Apology theme! Make Loud regret everything she has done to him!

Yes, it's actually in stores now. I know, crazy right?
It's a property I've been working on for the past five years, and started here on DeviantArt. Thanks to the loyal fanbase of it, it was able to be turned into a book first for Heavy Metal. After, it was picked up by Paramount Pictures to be turned into a film, and now picked up by Dark Horse Comics.
I can't tell you how excited I am for you to all finally see it.
But most importantly, to the 2012 Pre-Orders, your books are on the way (TO US!) Once I receive them, I will personalize each one, and send the two signed prints as well. Thank you for your patience, it means the world to me.
To everyone else interested, here are some awesome reviews and link to the book itself.
Much love from Gabriel and I.

PE: 5 reasons to believe in yourselfSuccess is not a measure of how much money you earn or how popular you are, rather, it is being able to find your passion - one that makes you happy and ultimately, one that you would be happy to leave as your legacy. To make a step forward to reach your dream takes smarts and guts but why couldn't you? Here is five reasons why you can.PE: 5 reasons to believe in yourself3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
1. Everyone was born equal
More-less, this is true, some people are born more challenged than others but we all possess skills and ability to learn. It is possible to build something out of nothing if we really want to. It all comes down to our preferences and decisions.
"Nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent."
2. Overcoming your fears
By constantly challenging yourself, you can get rid of fears that used to follow you. You will no longer be worried, you'll know you can count on yourself.
"If you think you can, you can. If you think you can't, you're right."

Episode VII Stormtrooper v03 by juan7fernandez
It seems the Force has truly Awoken, at least it has here on DeviantArt.
It has been one week since the teaser trailer for the first of the Disney owned Star Wars movies was released. Twitter and Facebook nearly broke under the deluge of postings of the trailer and frame by frame commentary of it. Each commentator hoping to spot something everyone else had missed.

The 50 Foot / 50 Hand Challenge! CLOSED!THIS CHALLENGE IS NOW CLOSED! But feel free to do it just for fun/improvement!The 50 Foot / 50 Hand Challenge! CLOSED!3 years ago in Art Features More Like This
This was a drawing challenge from :iconSenshiStock: and :iconmostlyguystock:!
Hands and feet are pretty hard to draw. Lots of artists struggle with them! Even when other things come naturally, hands and feet can still be quite a problem. The best way to get better at drawing hands and feet is to study them!
The Challenge: Sketch or draw 50 feet AND 50 hands from reference photos or life.
Deadline: The deadline has passed for this challenge, but you can still participate and make yourself a better artist!
You can post them as one giant post, in groups, one at a time, however you want! But please make a FOLDER in your gallery and put them all in there then send me a link to the folder. (If you do one submission with ALL of them at once, then you don't need the folder.)
HOW TO QUALIFY: In order to make this a little easier for myself, please number yo
Just sayingI'm not one of those prudish people who gets antsy with some suggestive artwork.Just saying3 years ago in Personal More Like This
But one has to wonder why so many guys can't draw woman who aren't sex objects. Sure, I'm an 18 year old straight male, and I can understand it every once and a while, but I feel that's the direction too many people take all the time.
To be fair, there are girls who do that to guys too, but I tend to bump into that a bit less. But it's definitely out there.
I don't know, I feel sex that doesn't advance the story or develop the characters is just a desperate cry for attention or poorly built attempt to keep people reading an ultimately bad story. That or it's pronz, and I can accept that a bit more. Seems like an easy way to get lots of commissions
To each their own I guess.
Anyhow, enough of my ramblings.
Become a better artistTo improve and become really good at art. Isn't that what all of us, artists, secretly wish for? That we, one day, become as good as the idols we've looked up to.Become a better artist2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
Well, we can't be all born with mad talent. But there are certainly ways to speed up the process for you! In the journal here, I listed some tips and tricks that helped me getting to the point where I am now. I thought I'd share them with you. And maybe you can add to the list. I'm always willing to learn.
Give up on being a mangaka -- or hold more realistic expectations
Admit it. Most of us here started drawing manga because we liked the style at a certain point. How awesome would it be to one day become a pro in that field. A real manga artist (or mangaka, like they say in Japan)! The truth is... becoming a mangaka isn't that easy. It it were, many more people would be one. First of all, mangaka's live in Japan. That's the only country with a manga industry big enough to actually ha

The day has finally come…
Oh yeah; LMS HAS arrived in our warehouse (along with the promised prints) and shipping will begin this coming Monday. You have all been so incredibly patient (well; 99% of you and we can’t thank you enough for that. That said, a number of you have during the waiting period sent us individual emails with change-of-address-notifications.
Given the more-than-expected time that has passed and to really make sure that nothing has slipped through the cracks here, please respond to this final email and confirm shipping address.
We promise, it’s the last time we make you jump through this hoop and, in return for staying with us on this long and arduous journey, we have decided to add yet another print (in addition to the promised one). Dan will also sign each one of them, by the way.
Oh wait, what? LMS is up for pre-order?Before I begin: All 2012 preorders, whether Domestic or International, are still in order. You will get your books signed by me, with signed prints and a signed poster. We will deliver them as soon as they come in.Oh wait, what? But for everyone else, at last, 2 years later from it's original release, LMS: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter, is up for presale. Not only that, Dark Horse Comics (Hellboy, BPRD, Star Wars and more) will be publishing it.
This is the REPRINT. But! It's been completely rewritten, new story, new bios, new art AND at the back of the book will be featured 60+ professional artists' contributions to the LMS world. Such artists as Dave Rapoza, Anthony Jones, Andree Wallin, Reid Southen, Kekai Kotaki, Ash Thorp, Marco Nelor and more...
We're also not only in the top 100 best sellers right now, but we're beating out Bioshock Infinite's art book, The Hobbit, Avatar, Adventure Time and Star Wars right now. Cloud nin

Started a Patreon for my original comic Samurai Genji!
I have been living off savings from when i was a concept artist for a while, but the icy grip of life expenses is catching up with me. My budget will allow me to do 2 more episodes, so i will do my best to make them count, but after that it's in your guys hands. I love, love, LOVE, working on this comic, and i feel like the story is just getting started, but.... life costs money, and dreams don't pay rent /=
For these next two months, i will be giving Genji everything I've got, but if I don't succeed, I want to thank everyone that has supported Genji up to this point. It has been an amazing journey. Some of you have been following my art for a while, and some of you just started to, but since i basically sit in front of my computer all day, i see you guys as my friends. Making new episodes and reading your comments was seriously the most fun i have ever had. You guys seriously rock, and I a
Believe in your giftYour gift is something you're born with, ever had a person come up to you say why art? why not by an accountant, a banker, a doctor or a nurse?Believe in your gift2 years ago in Personal More Like This
The reason they say that is because they can't see your dream for you, if was given to you, not them. Self doubt, pity feeling, sorrow and anxiety are all things we allow into our lives when we are not focused on our gift. You know that feeling you get when you've finished a piece and it looks awesome, that feeling is the same feeling athletes get after finishing a race or a hiker gets after climbing a mountain.
Even though I didn't draw for most part of my life, I know I was born with the gift to draw. One of my first memory as a child is of my Mom painting a flower patter on a pillow. I remember taking part in weekend art fairs where we would sit on the grass and paint a landscape after which we were all given a piece of sweet and pencils. I remember all these as being my good memories, for some reason they stuck in my mind more t
Overpriced Games and Software in Australia - Tim*Please read all of this*Overpriced Games and Software in Australia - Tim4 years ago in Personal More Like This
Recently I have been shocked to find out that a few Aussie gamers and people I know had no idea that we here in Australia on average pay up to 50% more for games, music and DVDs then the UK or US do, to the direct exchange rate. Its something I have know about for quite awhile and I can say I've never been to please or impressed about it.
What shocked me even more was when I learned that Adobe and Autodesk products, such as Photoshop for example cost not 50% more here but double or even triple the US price. Now these prices in the US wouldn't be deemed fair, why do it to anyone else?
Even online retailers such as Steam who offer international, direct to buy and download games which have absolutely no delivery or infrastructure costs, still manage to rip off Aus gamers buy having the more popular games on sale through the Steam store to Aus gamers cost anywhere between 70-30% more then what the prices in the UK or US are, even to the exchange rate. Here is a si

If you're featured, please do the same in your journal with the person who featured you in the first spot, or don't I really don't care much for this particular rule. That being said, the idea of this is to spread art around, not to get a free feature.
