The Essence of "Street"PART VThe Essence of "Street"2 years ago in Art Features More Like This
The series of 5 articles about Street Photography made by myraincheck and slightly edited by moi* ends with:
WHAT IS STREET PHOTOGRAPHY?
Trying to define a genre of photography like Street, it implies the consciousness that one definition will never be enough, or exhaustive, or able to cover the molteplicity of its possibilities and situations. Nevertheless let's try to comprehend the philosophy behind the passion for street photography.
Let's start stating that a street photo is not a photography of streets and it is not necessarily a photo taken in a street. So what does 'street' mean? Street is whatever background or surrounding, not staged, not posed by the photgrapher. And street is whatever photography which captures, explores humanity, the human behaviour, the relationships between individuals and between individuals and their surroundings.
"The essence of street photography is the impulse to take candid pictures in the

As some of you people know, I am a fan of Kill La Kill and have been riffing on the "uniforms" of the rebel group Nudist Beach with crossover characters.
As you can see from the recruiting poster, there is a basic uniform design but you can customize it - as I have - for the various characters I have drawn.
Even the 4 Devas have their very own version of a Nudist Beach uniform so there really aren't any limits except that you can't technically be wearing clothes - you can only wear accessories such as hats, belts, straps, s
Gray Cats - Bases Feature Volume 2:The Gray Cats & Bases Feature, is art chosen from the front page to DeviantART recently uploaded. Why the feature has this title is the terming of "Gray Cats & Bases" is an unfair term invented in the site forum for art not worthy of being popular that always shows up under newest. I strongly disagree with this stereotype. The idea that all art shown under newest is bad and people shouldn't look there for great art. Guys here is volume 2 of the front page under newest a.k.a. Breaking in to Lit!IntroductionBreaking in to Lit!2 years ago in Personal More Like This
Literature has long been considered one of the closest knit communities on deviantART. As a result, some people find it difficult to "break in" to the Lit crowd. There are rumors of elitism, difficulty in getting exposure, and lack-luster appreciation for the incredible work that goes into writing a good piece of prose or a well structured poem.
If you look at a painting you can see amazing detail, great use of color, and the importance of the subject immediately. You know it came from the artist's imagination and that he or she had to spend hours translating that to a canvas. The tangibility of the work is right in front of you. With writing, it is not quite the same. The effort the author puts into the work can only be appreciated if readers put in their own effort to read the work. The gratification is not instant, which is one reason the lit community is so close knit.
Those who do have large followings often also comment and read quite a lot of work h

PE: Literature Critique TipsAs part of Project Educate Critique week, the Community Volunteers would like to share more art specific elements to consider whilst giving good critique.PE: Literature Critique Tips3 years ago in Deviant Events More Like This
Today we are looking at the Literature gallery, with our Top Tips.
Before you start
READ the piece all the way through.
Read it again, making notes of what you would like to point out in your critique.
Stay Objective- you are critiquing the piece not the person.
These tips are areas which aren't just necessary in critiquing others' work, but also when self-critiquing your own writing. This is one person's suggestions and I welcome any further tips in addition.
A good opening. The opening to any form of writing doesn't necessarily need to involve a physical explosion, but it needs to have an initial hook; something to entice the reader in. It needs to be clear, something that
