How do you use Macromedia Flash for paintings?

What are your steps, would be interesting to comprehend...

it it´s not too private for you
Hi Sly55, I don't mind sharing. I scan my pencils and import to Flash where I add a layer and "ink" over the pencils. Delete the pencil layer and export the file at 300 dpi .jpg. Open the .jpg in Painter or whatever you do your colors in.

I started out with Flash5 in 2001 because it was the only image software I had. (I was into flash animation) Just so happens the brush tool mimics a quill pen pretty well. I used to get hate mail back then, when artists asked what markers, quills or brushes I inked with... I used to hear, "so the computer draws for you" or "there's no way you can ink like that with a computer" and "Flash isn't meant for inking and you'll never last in this business".

Funny how things change huh?

All the best,
Mark
hey thanks a lot, this was really helpful, I´m not new to art, but to digital art, and read a lot about the "in" programs like potoshop and painter, but the right inking method was missing, except the way all the comic artists I read about are making their inking - scanning an a3 paper and use the multiply mode in photoshop.

I will try it with Flash, eventually you will see a flash inked picture by me soon.

So, thanks a lot
