How It All Began (Part 2)Both opponents took a step forward, and the real battle began. The grey-haired boy plunged his glowing hand into the ground, and spikes began rising up randomly everywhere. Mabel jumped back and forth in order to dodge them. In mid-air, she fired more jets of ink at the boy. He dodged them, and all the spikes retracted. How It All Began (Part 2)25 minutes ago in Introductions & Chapters More Like This
"You're gonna have to do better than that to defeat me." The boy sneered. His hand began to glow yellow again, and he plunged his hand into the ground once more. This time, it seemed that nothing happened.
"Uhh......" Both Mabel and the stranger stammered. The grey-haired boy just chuckled.
"Just kidding." More spikes rose out of the ground, and shot up at Mabel. Mabel jumped around again, and when all the spikes finished trying to get at her, she jumped up again.
"What're you jumping for? You're making yourself look like a fool." The stranger scowled. A random spike shot up from the ground, and Mabel ducked her head to dodge it. Unfortunately, the spike was actually ai

There is a house across a fenced in pasture to the right of me. Trees and brambles are intertwined with the barbed wire of the fence. A decaying corpse of a cow lay in the middle of the field. I dig around throughout the car to find things that I need to take with me.
In two backpacks I carry my sleeping bag, a tarp, a roll of twine, two pocket knives, my flashlight key chain, a can opener, my crowbar, and bat, and my remaining food supply consisting of three cans of ready-to-eat soup and two cans of beans. I get out of the car and carefully close the door behind me.
“Bye, Sal,” I say to the car before walking toward the fence.
I step on the lower two strands of the fence and duck through the space I've created. The smell from the dead cow is faint there aren't any others around. The field smells mostly of hay and manure. I keep walking at a careful pace until I reach the carcass. I stop and look

The kids game was interrupted as two cars drove down the soccer field street. Both cars parked in front of the same house, the very house that had seen such excitement only half a hour before. A young man hopped out of each car, hauling their bags with them. The two men were identical twins; from their looks, to their walk, to the sound of their voice. Heading for their house, they only made it ten feet, before they where glomped by every kid on the street. They were clearly favorites in the neighborhood, every kid was begging them to join their game. "Please Jeremy?" "Please Jeffrey?" "Come play." "Please?" The chorus of voices overlapped.
"We'll play with you later, ok?" Jeffrey said, "We promise." With a reassurance safe in hand the twins were reluctantly allowed to go into their house. "Mom! Gale! Sara! Peter! We're home."
"Jeremy! Jeffrey! You said you'd be here tomorrow! Oh, I'm so glad you're back! How was college?" Millie managed to pull each

After the encounter with the female Organization member, the gang had gone back to the Ball-and-Socket to rest. Ushered in by Ms. Plum, the matronly cook, they were holed up in the kitchen with Emily. Victor had disappeared, again. To say that the Bride was confused would be a vast understatement.
“He just ran off, without saying a word!” Emily exclaimed. “Are all men like this?”
“Well not really…” Sora began from his seat near the fireplace.
“I’m afraid none of them are very bright.” Ms. Plum cut off the brunette as she polished cutlery. “They get something stuck in their heads and you can’t do a thing with ‘em!”
“Hey!” Sora and Salem protested.
“Sorry, but she has a bit of a point,” Tegan conceded. “I’ve met plenty of guys who act like that…”

Once they got in the boat-submarine and were on their way back home, Private was making smoothies on the boat' slower deck, Monique and Marlene were relaxing in the submarine, Rico was skipping stones on the water (thankfully they weren't kidney stones), and Skipper and Kowalski were talking.
"Don't play dumb with me, Kowalski, it's not like you. Then again, I never thought that feeling low self esteem was like you either," the leader started.
It didn't take long for Kowalski to understand what Skipper was saying.
"She told you, didn't she?" he asked, though his instincts already gave him the answer.
"Through her anger. Anyway, you need to understand that when I have thoughts about you being less of...well...who you are,

“Oh god, you again…” she grumbled. “I already got permission to wear my regular clothes around the school, so stop bothering me about it. And I think we’re on a first name basis now, Viola.”
“Those clothes can hardly be called ‘regular’,” Viola muttered, but raised her voice so that she could be heard again. “That is not what I wish to speak with you about.”
“Oh?” Silvia raised an eyebrow. “I can’t think of any business you’d want with me.”
“You think,” Viola started in a dangerously low tone, her voice quivering with anger.
The Real World of Emory PaigePeople don’t think the way I do. I’ve always known that. I’m different—that’s what my mom always told me, anyway. The way I see things is just, I don’t know, strange. My world is different from everyone else’s. It’s not because there’s something wrong with me; there’s something wrong with the world.
It wasn’t always like this. My best theory is that it started with the accident that took my mom. I was injured and I think that, maybe…I never woke up. Maybe I’m dead and in some kind of afterlife, maybe I’m in a coma and this is all in my head, or maybe this is some test I have to pass to either wake up and go on living or to “pass on”—whatever the hell that means. I don’t know. I haven’t figured everything out yet.
All I know is this:
My world isn’t real.
I think I’m supposed to leave. I think there’s a chance I may still get my

“I knew some people that would hate this place.” Calvin admitted. Felix trained his eyes on the brunett.

“My mom, when she was alive, or my sister. I don’t know where she is either.” Felix looked at him confusedly.
“I’m sorry, I guess...” Felix mumbled. Truth be told, as someone living in a place like this, he didn’t really know how to respond. They stood there silent, engulfed in darkness. Felix flashed his eyes over to the window. “Ah! The sun is rising! Come on!” Felix grabbed Calvin’s hand and pulled him into his room.

“Alright to the kitchen now,” said Evan pushing Gina and Jeff to the doorway.
“What are we going to do?” asked Jeff standing by the door to the sleeping quarters.
“Simple we just stay in here until the new person goes nuts and goes to his room,” replied Gina pushing herself up so she could sit on the counter.
“What kind of plan is that? You just think that this new person won’t find the door and try and break it down?” asked Jeff his voice becoming squeaky.
“Jeff calm down we do have other options. We will just use Gina’s plan as a last resort. Now the key now it to find out everything we can do and use what we know alright?” Gina and Jeff both nodded their head in agreement. “Alright, what do we know about the new person?”

I can see her now. She is walking slowly toward me. Her clothes seem to be stained reddish-brown. Her T-shirt hangs limply from her thin frame. I turn the lights back off before climbing through the back seat into the hatch. I grip the handle of my brother's old baseball bat and watch the woman as she nears. Beyond the windshield, the woman appears to be about twenty feet away from the front of the car. Her movements are slow and I might have time to escape if I get out quickly. Shelter is shelter, though, and I don't want to leave this close to dark. The woman is silent now but she is only getting closer. I wrap myself in my sleeping bag to possibly hide my scent. I spray around me with the strong perfume that I got for Christmas two years ago. I pull the sleeping bag over my face and hold my breath. The sound of the woman's feet shuffling through the loose rocks on the pavement and frogs croaking in a nearby pond is all I can hear beyond my pounding heart

So it was finally Friday afternoon and as usual I was pretty excited. Friday afternoon has always been one of my favorite times of the week. You finish up with school or work and you have the whole weekend to look forward to. Anything could happen. Normally nothing much actually happens and this is the best I feel all weekend, but I felt this one was going to be pretty great. It was starting to warm up outside and I had finally applied to graduate after only five years of college, but also there was something else pretty new and exciting.
Most Friday nights I ended up spending with my roommate Jon, his girlfriend Chelsea, and our friend Kristin. It was a good enough time; we’d watch a movie or play some games, sometimes have a few others over for some drinks, but

"Oh gosh, I'm so nervous! No pressure on me that my Dad's been pressurising me to get into top set for ages..." I tell Cindy. She finished writing in her homebook and turned to face me.
"I'm nervous too, my mom will probably be disappointed if I don't get a good mark." Cindy was nice, I thought. The only problem was that she often tried to act smarter than she is, and also she would write out my answers quite a lot. It didn't bother me much, everyone seems to. The bell rung and everyone packed away their things. I shoved my books into my bag and finished by topping it all with my black pencilcase.
"Do you think the test will be hard?" I asked Cassy on the way out of the room.

After reassuring Emily, the girls all made their way back to the Ball-and-Socket to wait for everyone else. Emily had fixed herself to the piano in the corner, staring glumly at the worn-out keys. Deciding it was best to give the Bride some space, the three teens sat up at the bar.
Tegan swung her legs lazily as she let her mind wander. Slumped over the counter, she was occupying herself by tossing munny into an empty glass.
Tegan looked up to see Angelique and Kairi staring at her worriedly.

“Oui, you ’ave a very…’ow do you say it, ‘spaced-in’ look.” The two redheads stared at Angelique in confusion, before Tegan got what she was trying to say.
“You mean ‘spaced-out’?” she shrugged.

"No way..." She muttered. "It looks like they're coming from where the graveyard was..."
"Do you see any signs of a leader?" He asked her.
