Whispers Down BelowThe silent voices only grow,Whispers Down Below2 days ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
the dispossessed and their silent screams,
hark, there are whispers down below.
Fat men upstairs, they move so slow,
are stomping elephants, it seems,
while silent voices only grow...
Just up they look, and up they go,
possessing worlds and stars in dreams,
but there are whispers down below.
Their progress and prosperity to show,
whipped to a lather are their teams,
and silent voices only grow...
Gold and riches, bling and blow,
that's all that matters, so it seems.
Yet there are whispers down below.
And all the time they do not know
that whispered words can turn to screams,
that silent voices only grow,
and that already, there are whispers down below.
Lifestyles of the Broke and Nameless. They look down at you from their pillars.Lifestyles of the Broke and Nameless.3 days ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
Stone canopies full of the colorful and gilded.
“You can’t come up here, you’re not the right kind.”
“Stay on the ground, no sun for the wilted.”
They stand on you. They live so high.
On the broken backs of the working class.
Hold them up, work til you break for a shot.
To climb up too and sit on your ass.
We hold these truths to be self-evident,
But denied to those south of the canopy.
That all men are created equal,
And have the right to be happy.
Something is terribly wrong here.
Where the spoils go to the spoiled.
A lifetime spent on the ground,
A lifetime spent on the work toiled.
Never enough to get to school,
Never enough to afford to retire.
Barely enough to window shop.
Barely enough to even aspire.
From the pillars, they look down.
As the pillars break and the broken stand.
Since all men are created equal,
Let them join us here on the land.
Nationality -- sonnet #3As citizens defined by law we areNationality -- sonnet #32 days ago in Traditional Fixed Forms More Like This
The members of our Nation; given rights
To make our lives the best so none can mar:
Ability to seek the Glory Heights.
Alas, we shan't absorb in endless greed!
Begone forever members who deny --
The Law doth dictate certain civic deed
Including lawful du'y; the People's Cry.
But in addition to dictation lain,
Include ye inside, Father's olden mores!
A worm enables soil to contain
Enough supplies to germinate the Moors.
For every soul has power to improve
The Life, the Goal, the Peace -- mankind's spirit, move.
