cold gurgles wending
between the shadow
and the sun,
at moments, droplets
add their minuscule
as icy overhangs
their snowy layers

Other times, great chunks

startling an unsuspecting bird
with whirring wings
into the nearby pines.
Willows run yellow with sap,

Rocks long hidden
by the icy cap are revealed.
Soon the first bursts of true green,
will have their day in the sun,
and the ice will retreat until
it is its turn

If we want change
we have to find harmony
If we want peace
we have to learn from mother nature herself...
just as the elements keep the world together
~When there is earth there must be air
Just as it makes our atmosphere and fills the crevasses of the earth's crust to support life
~When there is air there must be water
With oxygen as apart of water it benefits all living creatures
~when there is water there must be fire
It burns in the core of our earth and from the sun comes the seasons
Each element plays a role
one can't go without the other
~no more, no less
all that is left is the spirit of life
we are the final role for the future
what will happen until then depends on our actions
even if we are small
in comparison to space and all it's wonders
~We are meant to be and discover

Can't you see the star still high?
Up there white moon still in wait
For the sun to cut through the night
Awaken by the sweet chirping call
See the horizon where the sun still crawl
Why should I wait for the day to start?
When I'm ready to play my part
Well who would have thought
Morning have its beauty to be sought
Don't you like the fresh scent of the air
Don't you find the quiet city to be rare
Why do people yawn in early morning
Just because their cellphones don't ring
It never hurts to be an early bird
To find the beauty of sunrise

Splintered limbs litter the thrashing fields
and crimson leaves whisper
as they shrivel in the wind.
Branches grow barren
and a long night towers
thick over the mountains
as the loud hush fades.
Lightning in the darkness
or darkening in the lightness.
Silence so complete
the world sighs on its axis.

Drops of water falling
Falling from the sky
Splash upon the ground
And shatter like jewels
The parched earth
Soaks it up
Like a man in a desert
At an oasis
The plants bathe their leaves
In the cool deluge
Thankful for relief
From the scorching sun
As the Summer rain
Drenches the land
The animals are resting
In their cozy dens
The clouds begin to part
The rain no longer falls
Dewdrops glisten in the light
A rainbow hangs in the sky above

The leaves begin to change
From brightest green of emerald
To shades of orange and yellow
The turning leaves flutter
In a soft breeze
One by one they fall
Drifting to the ground
They cover the world
In a beautiful blanket
A perfect compliment
To the setting sun

Crunch, crunch, crunch
The bright white snow
Breaks beneath my feet
Sinking up to my knees
Light glints off a frozen stream
The cool water burbles underneath
I sit beside it and watch the flow
As flakes of snow fall softly from the sky
The cold, dry wind whistles through the trees
Their creaking branches reach for the sky
Like old, withered fingers seeking warmth
Though none is to be found in the frozen sky

Tempting irises with an earthly fury
shift as forest shadows dance and writhe,
breathing so close, you can't believe
the trees haven't fallen silent yet.
Sunlight spirals twinkle down to fireflies,
tiny flares lighting on quivering whiskers.
The stage is set for unrequited desire;
you pack up your camera as she stirs, languid.
Some things aren't meant to be captured
and out here, your camera is a cage.

The sun begins to set, but wait!
A flicker of purple blocks out a couple sun rays.
The sun continued on it's path down, until another flicker of purple crosses it's way.
Then another, and another!
Swirling and twirling,
Swooping and gliding,
Their wings, soft as velvet, shimmer in the last of the day's sunlight.
Whirling about the landscape, dotting the primroses and marigolds,
Not a flower nor a faIry,
But simply, a butterfly.

I stand in the crowd and block out all noises.
For me, everything is silent until the first "CRACK!".
A colorful and festive burst of silver in the sky starts off a spectacular firework show.
The colors of the fireworks spread out as if they are running.
The light waves like ribbons.
The ribbon curl to unfold a blossoming, giant flower.
The specks of fire in the sky mimic stars.
They want to be stars, but a force draws them.

The Smells Of Rotting Leaves Engulf One's Soul
A Bird Cries, "Winter!" It caws," We must migrate!"
The towering pines sway in the morning breeze.
They grow higher than any other tree and are proud of it.
The other trees envy them. "Soon we will grow!" hiss the maples, birches and buckeyes.
The wise oak does not care, for he has been around the longest,
"I've had my peak of growth and now I will slowly rot away,"
He whispers distantly.
"Autumn draws near!" Howls the morning breeze as it whips across the forest.
The crinkled blackberries clutch to the last of their gloss.
However, after three seasons pass the blackberries will return, like waking up from a bad dream.
The blackberry bush must wait patiently.
She frails in autumn. She frosts in winter. She blossoms in spring.
And after long last, her prized berries return in summer.

The most dreadful winter of my life came.
I abandoned the idea of a blossoming future,
Fled the misery of my own motherland,
For a woman I have far too often dreamt of.
Among the singing buds of the Shinto shrine
A white plum caresses my back,
Its petals lull me, my eyes are sealed, sweet reverie,
A convent of grass
The junk of my thoughts
Send me to Amaterasu.
Blushing Lotus, enticing Lilacs, panting Azaleas,
So many mistresses!
Enough perfumes to be drunk from them.
Why, my promise, have I been waiting so long to join you?
Your hair like Sakura flowers
Your laughters sound like Shamisen.
Over the pond, a dragonfly sits down and begins to dream

Infinite and invisible,
A part of everything,
You and me,
Beautiful mountains in their winters solace,
A romantic candle light,
The rushing gargantuan tsunami,
Silvery sheen on a murderer’s knife,
Last rasping breath of your dying,
Not so easily destroyed is matter,
But so easily overlooked,
Yet it is necessary,
Short lived and visible,
Individual to one person,
Impulsive desires to express,
Centre of our studies,
Freedom to do as we wish,
To see those mountains,
To feel the warmth of the candle,
To choose good or evil,
These are the things we decide,
But to fall victim to the tsunami,
We have no say in that,
So is it really Mind over Matter?
Because the matters of the mind,
Are nothing more than mindless matters,
And is it right to think that matter does not matter?
For the mind is made of matter,
And matter makes the rules of the mind,
So this Earth is not governe
EyesMy eyes are blue,Eyes1 day ago in Free Verse More Like This
Or so everyone says,
Are they the same shade for you as they appear to me?
So do they shine like an unblemished sapphire?
Glistening in the glow of mornings first light,
Or do they resemble dull blue rings,
Revolving around a black hole,
Just plain balls of gelatinous goo,
Twisting obnoxiously in ovular sockets,
Is this what you see?
My eyes are amazing,
Or so the men in white coats tell me,
Can you gaze upon a scar in barren lands of which once a river flowed?
And wonder in awe in the same way I do?
Or do you scan the lands of a forest and notice nothing more than a sea of lifeless green?
I can’t help but notice the pearlescent green beetle scuttle,
Or the glinting eye of the staring moon at night,
Is this what you see?
My eyes are condoning,
Or so it seems,
Can I discount the ant as I walk?
Can I judge the scraggy flea ridden dog begging for shelter?
Can I fear the fierce tiger in pursuit of prey?
Can I condemn the murderer for a crime he didn’t commit?

Regal and proud,
In the suns last light,
On the sparkling ice,
A mountain atop smooth silk,
Gliding elegantly and effortlessly,
Gentle waves lapping,
On the icy shores,
Aquamarine shimmers from the waters below,
Like a pendant,
Suspended on a gold chain,
Admired and loved,
Aged crystalline faces,
Watching the breezeless sunset,
Calm and undisturbed,
It marched onwards.
Beneath the polar wonder,
On the spear of enormous ice,
Reaching down far,
Into the darkening depths,
Of vermillion green,
Light shows dancing,
Across its scarred surface,
Its peak sharpened,
By battles won,
With metal and flesh,
Like a tyrannous king,
Feared and respected,
Its doomed journey started,
At the cliffs of the Arctic,
Waiting with endless patience,
Till Judgement Day calls,
And great mountain of ice,
Will become the sea once more.
