so far from home
for three years to live there
to replace warm Africa with snow...
When I am older. When I am older, I will know how to fold properly. When I am older.5 hours ago in Concrete Poetry More Like This
No one will have taught me.
I will simply just know.
When I am older I will call those younger than me naive.
Secretly jealous of the way they dream.
And I'll think, that used to be me.
When I am older I will accept that death is inevitable.
My fears over it will melt away.
As I realise that I am not forever.
When I am older I will understand that I cannot please everyone.
It is not my job.
It never was.
When I am older I'll learn that being perfect is not only impossible but boring.
I will discover that when I fall down I become less perfect.
And more human.
When I am older I will have no regrets.
Just altered memories. Things were done the way they were meant to be done.
When I am older I will look at my youth.
I will stare in the mirror to find that I never left.
