The wreck of the Edmund FitzgeraldThe wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald3 weeks ago in Songs & Lyrics More Like This
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
of the big lake they called "Gitche Gumee."
The lake, it is said, never gives up her dead
when the skies of November turn gloomy.
With a load of iron ore twenty-six thousand tons more
than the Edmund Fitzgerald weighed empty,
that good ship and true was a bone to be chewed
when the "Gales of November" came early.
The ship was the pride of the American side
coming back from some mill in Wisconsin.
As the big freighters go, it was bigger than most
with a crew and good captain well seasoned,
concluding some terms with a couple of steel firms
when they left fully loaded for Cleveland.
And later that night when the ship's bell rang,
could it be the north wind they'd been feelin'?
The wind in the wires made a tattle-tale sound
and a wave broke over the railing.
And ev'ry man knew, as the captain did too
'twas the witch of November come stealin'.
The dawn came late and the breakfast had to wait
when the Gales of November came slashin'.

And a land turned to ash,
Run by the lawless,
The brave, and the rash.
The sky had turned dark
And the clouds had turned red,
For all of the blood
Fallen soldiers had bled.
We walked through the rubble
And over-turned stones,
Away from the castle
Made of blackened bones.
We heard shouts from behind,
So we started to flee,
Not begging for mercy;
We ran to be free.
We ran through the trees,
Skeletons of themselves,
And hid in the places
Where darkness does dwell.
We heard all the soldiers,
Who chased us, they thought,
Where instead we had hid
So as not to get caught.
We waited till nightfall
Before we unearthed
From our sanctuary
Of darkness and dirt.
We watched for the stars,
But hidden they were,
Obscured by red clouds
Now covering the Earth.
But still through their smog,
The sun filtered through,
And though it was weak,
Hope inside of us grew.
We jumped and we shouted
With the joy of the free,
Before setting off
To find people like we.

Stab twice with iron knife
To take your share of hers black life.
And then stab thrice to make a grave,
A hole to bury those who brave.
Who brave to stab their mother once
Even if she birth them giveth hence.
And those who stab their mother twice
For they believe it's their life vice.
And last be those who did it thrice
For they did not assume the price.

Born as four but live as one
They all were very close
They lived a privileged life, tucked away

With every year, they grew and helped
The Big Pair helped in the hospital
The Little Pair kept all entertained
And their lives went on
Until 1918, in July
The girls and their family walked downstairs
It was there they breathed their last

She wants to feel something,
Other than the sadness,
That is crushing her,
And making her weep.
She wants to look up at the sky,
Seeing something good,
Knowing that she isn't alone,
And has someone that cares.
She wants to feel warm,
In her heart of hearts,
Where it truly matters,
And only she can really judge.
She covers her mouth,
As to watch her words,
Before she speaks them,
Knowing that every sound,
Can be a powerful weapon.
She wants to be happy,
Because she's forgotten how to be,
Amidst all the pain around her,
She has hope,
And will continue on tonight.
BraveBrave, we all have to be right?Brave1 month ago in Free Verse More Like This
We all have to stand up for others even when the favor's not returned
Even when our names get slashed & burned, Well maybe that's not true...
Cause if we're not brave then we're a coward right?...We're nothing but shadows hidden in the silence without a voice, without power...
Maybe the problem isn't that we're not brave, it's that we haven't found or voice yet, or maybe we've lost hope in all that's good...because tell me the point in being brave, when no one's brave for you...when no one's there to help you pick up your pieces.
Cause we all can't carry this weight alone, after all we're only made of flesh & stone. Why can't we share the courage & unite as one. Because almost when the day is done your ready, ready to be the one to die cause no one was there. No one cared enough to be brave for you as you were for them....Cause in the end you ask yourself..."Is anyone even really, truely brave at all?"...guess not.
ChoiceYou will not see the choice at first.Choice2 weeks ago in Free Verse More Like This
Don’t panic. No one does.
You see the pain, the hurt and anxiety and feel ten times more than you see.
You don’t know how to deal with it. Anger erupts. Of course it does.
The rage and frustration that goes undirected because you don’t know where it should go so you give it to yourself.
And it grinds away at your soul, chipping it apart, piece by piece, until you find your nails digging in, a voice silenced by the world and a blade across your skin and you can’t quite remember how it was you got to this place where the hatred never stopped flowing so it drowned you.
You didn’t see the choices. You didn’t think you ever had any.
But now you do.
That realization has unlocked you, pushed you off that path of destruction, even if it is just a staggering step you have paused and looked around you to see where you are and that is what matters.
You have looked around.
The power of the anger cannot touch you while you lo

in that way it's nearing the end of a now rather old one.
But in his mind.
His mind clear after a sound sleep,
one taken after another, not so sound one.
No longer is he feeling empty,
but rather feels empty of the feeling of emptiness,
with the will for life and victory returning stronger every second.
He thinks of his torturing saint,
the one who led him here. The girl.
He thinks again, of all the emotions he felt over this one terrific person.
All the joy turned to anger turned to angst turned to anguish.
And he's past the point of needing that pain.
A smile spreads across my face.
I feel alive again.

Both good and bad
There’ve been some rough spots
That we have had
And other times
We celebrate victory
Here in our home
The land of the free
No matter what they say
We are together
For better or worse
Now and forever
Some come from the shadows
To tear us down
And claim that they are
The best the best that’s around
But let me tell ya buddy
I got news for you
Just be prepared for
The hell you’re gonna go through
We still have our problems
But we’ll get through it all
And one thing’s for sure
We won’t give up and fall
Honestly I think peace
Is something that we all crave
In this land of the free
And home of the brave

Because today is such a different day.
Leave all the bad behind you, run if you can,
But sometimes you have to get up and take a stand.
Run like a demon, a demon out of hell,
Forget all those memories, the ones you cannot tell.
Embrace in the sins you have taken and drowned yourself in.
Take the bad things and turn them into rights,
You can't get over the dark if you don't turn off all the lights.
Keep your faith up on on your shoulder, don't ever let it down.
Because the tears you are crying, will surely let it drown.
Let the seas claim back their waves, as you do with bad deeds,
You've fulfilled them, you've given into your needs.
