I did this for fun these last couple of days because I've seen the trailer to the short film "The Dam Keeper" which looks amazing!

Tried to do my take on it. I didnt quite pull it off, but I think the end result is interesting either way.

Test of Eohippus in the environment I'm making for it. Basically the same thing as this   except for a different palaeo-horse.

Now that I'm a certified animator, I figured I should start uploading some animations onto dA. HOORAY!

My sickeningly adorable film from VanArts about a boy robot, his toy plane, and a new friendship.

Animated in ToonBoom Harmony.

Music by :icontonyk-lyne:. Thanks so much, buddy!

= the Creative Process =

My year project in Multimedia workshop, questionning the Creative Process Through the hybridization of various media.

The first part shows us the processing of drawing my character Lunėwen, giving them life.
I sometimes jump into other works, that's cause of the creative process is not a linear thing where you only work on ONE job, but jump between many things.
I had to do a difficult choice :  I hate the idea to be seen, I hate seeing myself wrking, my expressions looks stupid. But it's a part of the process, too, I draw and my characters are front of me, in my own mind.

Some parts of the animations sucks, some details of the video too.

You can see that the picture crash, with pixels, it's a video capure of a working video capture that crashed and I couldn't use in the video software. It's a part of the process too, it's really difficult to show digital bugs. But they're very important in the ceative process.
When Lunėwen jump out of the screen, I change of work : I create, really, from nothing, the Ice spirit. It doesn't have name at this moment, it's not a character... befor I give them a face, a looking, an expression, and little by little, give them life.

Passing through animation, speedpainting, video, sppedsculpting, I show you all the parts of my creative process, from the sketch to the final image, all the parts of the creation of a running animation, exctracts of 40 hours of sculpting.

I reveal you a part of myself.

I hope you'll like it, many thing could be better, but I had to do choices.
Good watching :3

This video was given into this sculpture that contains a USB stick.

previously:  PWF - Breakdown

our behind the scene tour is almost over... this here is
the forth stage of this particular workflow, which we'll
name the Blitz Method for it's senseless speed ;]

this stage has all the keyframes of the animation
neatly collected in one easy to scroll trough file.

a rough timing can be figured out here (80-90%)
the next step is to simply "stretch" these 720 frames
to the final frame count of 3,600.

btw, here's a preview of how it looks at 20 frames/sec:
sta.sh/080qan4kx2s

there are a good few things to fix, but that's what the
next step is all about... called by the Maya folks as the
Final Polish.

frame count:  720
production time so far: 9 days

up next:  the final version

Along with my latest Commission I have also been working on an alternate rendering/shader setup.

This setup is primarily designed with animation in mind and I am looking for a happy medium between my original style and a more cartoony look. I decided not to include a lot of outlines using Freestyle because they increase rendering time by quite a bit.

Since I would like to use this for animation I am attempting to keep render time at a minimum. So I have forgone any sort of reflection, SSS, or FSAA and opting in for 'fakes'.

I may or may not add in actual shadows, I'll have to see how it looks with em on.

Modeled and rendered in Blender.
