More Vaerthe, because my gallery was suffering from a severe deficiency of black and blue as well as general sci-fi things.
This comes from one of several old sketches I dug out of my abandoned WIPs folder from years ago, this one originating from 2012 I believe. All it had was a valketh-shaped pose, which I had for some reason cast aside in favour of other drawings, so I decided I could do something with it and salvage it into a new piece. So I took the pose and adapted it into Vaerthe, and that was how this came to be.
You'll notice Vaerthe's design has altered slightly, but this is less so an actual design change as it is more an aspect of her character, that she simply alters and changes depending on the context I wish to draw her in; her form is not entirely definite. So here, I felt in the mood for a less 'hard' look and added more swirls and so on to make her plating look more traditional armour-like. Overall, this is fairly simple in the scheme of things, but I really am quite fond of it. It harkens back to my older styles while being up to my current skill level, and I hope the other old sketches I salvaged will amount to results much the same. They are also valketh-centric WIPs, so anyone lamenting their absence should be happy to have them back in some form or another in future work.
