The composition bothers me; I stuck the head so far up there...
In any case--
It's quite the well spread concept: Valykries, the Morrigan, the Amazons, etc.--warrior women figures/goddesses.
I figure she shouldn't be TOO pretty, because, c'mon, now: perfect features and flawless hair on a warrior? Noses break easy! She's probably still too pretty...but hey, no reason she shouldn't be kind of pretty, right? Anyway, you can be quite sexy without being pretty--and although it's less common, pretty without being at all sexy. I gave her eyebags for good measure. *shakes fist* Damn things are one just about everyone.
I'm thinking of coloring this, which would mean you'd be able to tell that she has blue/green swirl tattos/paint...which is quite Celtic. She has the bird (eagle, hawk, raven, crow, etc., whatever--crows specifically are sacred to the Valykries, and also the Morrigan, which is logical: carrion birds, war, decaying bodies, and so forth. Eagles are important for war, too, though, and hawks are generally concerned fierce--war HAWKS vs. peace DOVES, that kind of thing) claws tied in her hair, which I've always thought would be cool...
Mother actually owes a raven claw, which I always CONSIDERED tying in my hair, but, uuh...no.
She has three runic symbols tied in her hair, as well: Ansuz, the rune sacred to Odin (Norse god of war and poetry), Algiz (the Valykrie rune--for protection, healing, all that nifty jazz) and Tiwez, the rune sacred to Tyr (another Norse war god).
[I'm a dork and after my first surgery I taught myself to read/write/divine with runes. :3]
She has an arrowhead stuck in there, too, because...uuh...it was cool. The Amazons in particular where supposed to be wicked shots, cutting off one of their breasts to draw their bowstrings better.
AND FEATHERS! THREE FEATHERS TIED IN THERE! Again, I just think this is cool, although I think the Morrigan are supposed to have feathers in their hair.
Speaking of the hair, I like it: I think it's dyanmic and the length is logical.

The amazons never cut off a breast they had a speacial type of armour that just flattened it. I like it though its nice. How do you come to know runes?
