Pinup Girl WIP, 2008
11 in high
Polymer clay; Wooden base

The beginnings of a pinup girl. End product will have a dress on but it's best to sculpt the form and then add the clothing.

This is being made as a present. Hopefully it will be well received...

On an entertaining note, she and Count Duckula are hanging out together faceless at the moment. She's also like godizilla to him!!

As mentioned, a dress, a whole lot of clean up, and a pile of details! All that and trying to figure out if I can actually fit her into my tiny beyond reason oven... bleh.

Very much based on `loish 's illustration ' pinup '
Not quite the image, not quite fan art... we'll say it's somewhere inbetween - it's a great image that I fell in love with and completely influenced this project. I tried a few things to deviate away, but still ended up being too attached to the stance and the proportions.

So all that and Bernie Dexter. She's definitely the other half of the inspiration for this one. The dress that will be added is a Stop Staring dress that she modeled.

Hopefully back with an update on this one soon!!

Great preliminary structure. I've always found that you get that right, and the clothes just fall in place!

Looking good. Will you bake the naked forms then build clothes over that - or will all stay soft till the last detail? Curious.

Very good attention to the sculpt and great choice in pose too.

Ya know.... that is a good question. I think in the end I'll be baking it before the clothes and before the hair. I really don't want to screw up the surface or basic shape... which I would inevitably do if I left it uncured.

That said, I've been putting some thought into molding her without the clothes and the hair and then casting in resin and doing the details in epoxy clay.

The more I look at it the more I like it as is and want to at least have a copy of it like this. Also there have been a few other ideas that have come to mind for clothes that I'd like to persue without having to resculpt the whole...

Well... we'll see...
