Once you start looking for it, it's hard not to be amazed by the influence that the invention of containerized shipping has had on the world.

Stencilable!

Although unrequited, I too have always had the love of the shipping container.

Buk! I loved April's nature photos.

How have you been?

Terrific. Busy but getting outdoors to relieve the stress. I do love shipping containers by the way-I wasn't joking. Why Do you love them?

I think partially it's an appreciation of how such an incredibly simple thing (basically a box in a few standardized sizes) can change so much in such a fundamental way.

The other part to it is the fun of looking out for things whose design is influenced by the constraints of shipping-container dimensions. It's sort of like being privy to some occult information (like the megalithic yard, or the pyramid inch, only real) and seeing it where most people overlook it.

Interesting. I hadn't thought above the utilitarian aspect of them. The prospects for their use after the initial use is the thrill for me. When I was stationed in South Korea I was amazed at how many people used them as their homes in the countryside. Many were immaculatly tidy and brightly painted. It challenged the way I thought about utilityand thrift.
