These are really lovely, however I do think they are a little dark. Hope you don't mind me saying so.
I am really hot on presentation. The other day I was browsing the front page latest fractals and one stood out above all the rest was one that the artist had taken a little time with and added a border. A border that suited the image. It complimented the work so well that it was part of it. It had subtle lighting effects too. I have since seen the image featured and it still stands out.
Your work is so good, please don't let it be lost in the crowd.

is right...your work is so very good! Personally, I don't think it's dark at all. Personal taste enters into the critiques at times. All of your work is really outstanding.
thank you so much! i know i should go to the photo program i have and learn more about contrast and borders and stuff like that but i haven't yet! i am glad you enjoyed this piece!

Do you not have a photo program? I find that some images that look really grainy don't look half bad after they are rendered... Try the contrast control and Gamma works well for me.
I have Paint Shop Pro and Photoshop and Gimp and a few other dubious programs I use from time to time. But I far prefer Paint Shop Pro. I have the Flamingpear filters for it. You can get an Essential free set that has a filter called Kyoto colour. for me it has been an absolute essential piece of digital art kit. Sometimes when I have rendered an image I look at it and think I would like to see if it looked better in another colour. This filter allows you to adjust the gamma, change the colour and much more. I use it every day...
Gimp I find to fiddly and it just takes so much time to do anything with it. I guess I need to practice more... Same with Photoshop. I bought loads of filters on Ebay. A great source for digital artists... Or at least it used to be, however I recently got a completely legal copy of Paint Shop Pro on there for £20 ($40) No fancy box to throw away...
Having been at it for years I have accumulated a great deal of art software, including 3D max, Z Brush and many others. I seem to get stuck doing Apo and everything else is forgotten.

You're welcome, Light. I should learn more, a lot more, about my photo enhancement/graphics programs as well. I have 4 or 5 programs and only know a little bit about each. Hells bells, there's only so many hours in each day, and not nearly enough of them!
By the way, thank you for the add/watch. If I haven't returned the favor, not to worry, I will. I'm so far behind it's not even funny, but I am catching up!
i went back and enhanced some of the most recent ones! and even added borders on a few!~

it very much reminds me of pearl. nice job. i dont think there dark but i keep my monitor just on the edge of where the black is just making black. i believe also in some cases depending on if your monitor is back lit or not will show images differently. and what not. but i will say i have never really made anything that i haven't manipulated in some way or form.
even if its just a slight smoothing in spots or a contrast/brightness enhancement. or even a subtle hue change.
sometimes just the slightest little change can really bring a piece out. or make it runt for ya to.. LOL
thank you! i went back and enhanced a few of the most recent ones! i just can't decide what looks better or when to change things or even what colors to use!
