Tutorial dedicated to ~MedeaHiasobi

Done for a cosplay reference thing, and many people probably know this already (another case of having the camera around while shooting the zipper tutorial.

But, it is still useful - I really kind of cringe when I see people with beautiful outfits, but then they just tack the bias tape on the top (it's even worse when they don't even use bias tape, and just use strips of fabric regularly *shivers*)

It really is a very quick thing to do, and takes as much effort (and time) as top stitching it in place does, so why not do it the nicer way? That's my theory, at least.

So, I hope someone out there finds this useful, and not too confusing ;P I'll try to make a tutorial on how to make your own bias tape, but that's something easily found in most sewing books, so... yeah... let me know if you'd like it done, though, so I know.

Another great tutorial! I already use this method, but I love how you've laid it out with humor and everything as well :D

Wow, this is awesome, although I would have also included a hand stitch tutorial. I don't like to stitch in the ditch, I hand stitch the other side down.

Thankies ^__^

I'll do a hand-stitching one, next time I'm doing some - I just realized how few people know how to hand-sew. I was just going for the quicker way, because i know the instant I would have put "now hand-sew the other side down like this" people would have freaked out :giggle:

Do you prefer to slip stitch it, or do a type of catch stitch? *is curious* I have found out I rely on slip-stitching like nothing else ^^;

I slip stitch. I only use a catch or blanket stitch when finishing off plushies. Trying to keep the line taught for a catch stitch on a corset takes too much effort.

Ha! You're not kidding - I've never loved hand-sewing as much as the last corset I had to make for class... the instructor insisted that I try the stitch-in-the-ditch method to finish off the top and bottom, and it was so horrible -_____-; Never again, that's for sure!~

Now I wanna go make some plushies *whines*

Ew I would never stitch in the ditch on a corset. You have to sew through the boning and all those layers...yuuuuck!

This was a great tutorial to do. Bias tape can be such a pain when you don't know how to work with it.
